With a Kickstarter campaign as ridiculously successful as Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, it's not surprising that the $5.5 million in funding will in fact spawn multiple games. Developer INTI CREATES has announced the release date for Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, an 8-bit standalone Bloodstained title that was promised as a stretch goal for Ritual of the Night.
The game stars Zangetsu, "a demon slayer bearing a deep grudge." Players will see Zangetsu off on a quest to defeat his latest demon conquest, who is holed up in a creepy castle. Along the way, additional playable characters will be unlocked through travelers met during the game. The travelers bring additional skills and even outcomes:
Switching to these characters with their unique abilities will unlock new paths through the treacherous stages. Your choices in recruiting these adventurers will change the difficulty of the game, and may even affect the ending!
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will release for PlayStation 4 and Vita on May 24th as a standalone digital game for US$9.99 or is included for players who backed the required Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night tier.
