Weekend Announcements May 4-6th: The Good Life, Punch Line and More

By Rebecca Smith,
Last weekend may well have been a bank holiday in the UK, but that didn't mean things went quiet. Instead, we have 13 new titles to bring to your attention. Some are confirmed for PlayStation, some are only confirmed for the infamous "consoles", but they still may be of interest. The list is below; see if there's something that attracts your attention.

Airport Simulator 2018

The simulator genre was previously most at home on PC, but in recent months, more and more are heading towards consoles. Toplitz Productions' upcoming title is no different. Unsurprisingly, players manage an airport, making sure that all planes' visits run smoothly while the passengers have a good time while they're there. The title is aimed at genre beginners, as well as "simulator-pros" and is heading to unspecified consoles this summer.

Beep! Beep! Deliveries

Beep! is a world full of traffic, customers, characters and crazy driving. Players assume the role of Pook, who is paying his annual visit to Uncle Bub and his delivery company. The problem is the Greedy King keeps making everybody's life difficult, stealing their belongings and sending his guards to bully them. As such, everyone has problems, yet some also still have dreams. Pook will need to complete quests, solve puzzles and explore the area. Can he make a difference as he makes his deliveries? The title is delivering itself exclusively to PlayStation 4 this summer.

Chicken Assassin: Reloaded

OneShark's "strategic button-mashing, action-RPG" is coming to PlayStation 4 on July 17th courtesy of publisher Akupara Games. Mean Mcallister is the baddest chicken in town. He's exactly what you would expect if you combined Rambo, Foghorn Leghorn, and a bottle of hot sauce. His girlfriend, Candy, has been kidnapped by Spritzel and his henchmen, and he must take on a variety of enemies who get in his way. New fighting styles and skills can be acquired along the way, as well as a variety of weapons and clothing to boost his stats. Will he get her back?

Disco Dodgeball Remix

As they push further into the publishing market, ZEN Studios revealed they've signed an agreement with 82 Apps to bring their upcoming title to PlayStation 4 on May 22nd. Promising to be "your new favorite sport-type-thing", the game combines first-person shooter with dodgeball and places it into a series of arenas. Killer robots throw dodgeballs at each other for one hit kills, using powerups and trick shots for extra boosts, all while avoiding their opponents' shots with "skateboard-style movement". The title will include a single-player mode, as well as local and online multiplayer.

Play With Me

Loosely inspired by SAW, AIREM's upcoming "point-and-click adventure game with horror-elements" puts players in the shoes of Robert Hawk, who has been kidnapped alongside his wife Sara. Investigating officers believe the pair have been captured by a serial killer known as Illusion, who Robert has been investigating for quite a while. Before Illusion's identity could be revealed, Robert finds himself in the "Illusion", facing a series of puzzles that he must survive by making use of nearby objects and all the cryptic clues he can find. The thing is, he's not alone. Other prisoners could help him but he faces many moral choices that won't be easy to make, leading to variety of different endings. The game is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and will be released in the future.

Psyvariar Delta

This classic shoot 'em up was first released in arcades 18 years ago. Now, an enhanced version is making its way to PlayStation 4 this summer. The title will keep the classic BUZZ system where players could level up by avoiding direct hits or avoiding enemy attacks by the skin of their teeth. However, new features include a new user interface, new planes, and new game modes. REPLAY MODE+ allows players to take on any level with their chosen planes and bombs. Meanwhile, SCORE ATTACK MODE means choosing a difficulty and aiming for the highest score possible.

Mages' latest Visual Novel Adventure game is heading west thanks to publisher pQube. Yuta Iridatsu is a high school boy who faints if he ever sees girls' panties. When he's caught up in a bus hijacking, his soul is separated from his body. Stuck in a ghost-like state, he finds he can look up skirts and cause all kinds of trouble. The problem is that this time, if he gets too excited, he faints and causes an asteroid to hit Earth, destroying all life. Able to travel back in time before the asteroid strike, he must find answers to all of the problems he's causing. The title is coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita this summer.

Sentinels of Freedom

Underbite Games' turn-based strategy game just reached its Kickstarter funding target to bring it to PlayStation 4 next year. The title draws inspiration from Sentinel Comics: The Roleplaying Game and features a campaign where players join forces with a team of heroes to take down a variety of villains. A seemingly ordinary bank heist turns into something much larger. Will you lead your team to victory and save the world?

Siralim 3

After Siralim and Siralim 2 made it to PlayStation 4, developer Thylacine Studios promises the third instalment in the franchise will also be heading this way. The monster taming RPG allows players to summon and customise over 700 creatures. These can then be used to help fight your way through procedurally-generated dungeons, finding rare treasure along the way. You'll be able to craft new items, upgrade your creatures and learn new spells as you spend as much time with the game as you can — there's no level cap and there's "an infinite amount of content" for you to discover when the title appears later this year.

Super Dungeon Tactics

At the bottom of the description for Sentinels of Freedom was a comment that the team's previous title would also be heading to PlayStation 4, this one arriving this summer. Another turn-based strategy title, this one places players in charge of 15 "traditional" RPG characters, each with their own unique abilities. You'll need to take on the Dark Consul's forces in the fantasy world of Crystalia, working your way through dungeons and defeating hordes of monsters along the way. A randomly rolled ability dice can turn the tides of battle, allowing players to boost stats or unlock abilities to use to their advantage. Will you be lucky?

The Good Life

SWERY's latest creation, a "debt repayment daily life RPG", met its crowdfunding target the second time of asking. Players assume the role of Naomi, a New York journalist who moves across the ocean to the remote British town of Rainy Woods. She has a massive debt to pay off, but she can do this by photographing and producing reports on the bizarre events that happen in what is supposed to be "the happiest town in the world". Will you cope with all the mystery, horror and charm that surrounds the town? The game comes to PlayStation 4 towards the end of 2019.

The only PlayStation VR title on the list is Electric Hat Games' "visceral parkour title". Human-piloted robots, the Super Bots, have been engineered with super powers and tasked with protecting humanity. Using either Move controllers or Dualshock 4, you'll need to beat dozens of levels and pass a rigorous training program at the To The Top Academy to prove your worth for piloting one of the robots. The title will arrive on PlayStation 4 on May 29th.

Tour de France 2018

Now that the cycling season is well and truly underway, it's time for CYANIDE to turn their attention to their annual two-wheeled racing title. As usual, the game features the tournament's official track, along which players will fight to get the best trajectories and perform the best team racing tactics to get the yellow jersey and team victory. This year brings along a new game mode, Pro Leader. Here, players can create their own rider and work through his career, completing objectives, improving, and gradually gaining more responsibilities as the seasons progress. There's also a new team Progression System, an improved Fitness Peak System, new races (including Classics such as Paris-Roubaix), and more realistic AI. The title is due to hit stores on PlayStation 4 on June 28th.
