By Rebecca Smith,
Seven months ago, EA announced that they had ended their partnership with Tiger Woods. From that point onwards, their line of golfing games would simply be known as PGA Tour. As you had probably noticed, this year's instalment was also dropped, leaving golf fans wondering what was going to happen next. Well, EA Tiburon took to the stage at E3 to explain just what has happened to the game now known as https://www.truetrophies.com/EA-SPORTS-PGA-TOUR/trophies.htm. The result wasn't entirely what everyone was expecting.

As well as taking the franchise exclusively to the next (current?) generation of consoles, the developer will be harnessing the power of the Frostbite 3 engine to render their courses. After a player begins a round of golf, there will be no loading times; you can move seamlessly between holes. You will also be offered a full view of the entire course. The game engine also allows the developer to be a little more imaginative with their fantasy courses. I'll let the trailer demonstrate:

In case you didn't get the reference, the Battlefield Paracel Storm course allows reality to fly out of the window. You won't have to hit the ball around that battleship; you can strike the ball towards the bow, bounce it off the deck and land it on the green that way instead. The game's Executive Producer Brent Nielsen explains:

One of my favorite things about the game is discovering new shortcuts and alternate routes to the hole on fantasy courses. Players are encouraged to wander off the beaten path and find new roads to success. Now that the entire course is open at all times you are as free to be as creative and imaginative as you want in your pursuit of a low score.

If you prefer your courses to be grounded firmly in reality, you'll probably be interested in the screenshots for the "real" course instead.
