With a few days before Call of Duty: WWII
's first DLC releases, Sledgehammer has announced a community event that will complement the DLC content. The Resistance Event not only goes hand in hand with the DLC, but it also brings a plethora of new content for players.
The Resistance Event will see the return of prop hunt, a game mode that was previously seen in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
, which will allow players to take a break from the warzone. It also sees the return of Captain Butcher, who will be available at HQ to deliver Resistance themed loot boxes. He will also have Resistance Collections for players to complete, and gives players the chance to sign up for contracts.
The most important part of the event is the new division that will be available: The Resistance. This new division is more of a tactical, stealth team who has similar skills to citizen soldiers from all over Europe, and also features a new skill named Tactical Knife. The Resistance Division will have a new 9mm SAP pistol, and new skills for players to experience.
Another game mode that will return is an old classic, Demolition. This game mode has been available in many Call of Duty
games. For those unfamiliar, Demolition is similar to Search and Destroy, but instead you have plant the bomb at both bomb sites. New weapons will be available, such as the Orso SMG and the Volkssturmgewehr assault rifle, which will be unlockable as Contract rewards. Also, new Resistance themed gear will be available to style your soldiers out for the battle ahead.
That’s not all either. 2XP will be active in a variety of game modes, and players will receive a Resistance loot box every week during the event. The event runs for five weeks, January 23rd to February 27th, with the contracts and the weekly orders changing every week.
The best part of this event is that it’s free for everyone. That’s right, you don’t need to have the season pass or the new DLC when it releases. So what are you waiting for soldier?
