Bandai Namco just dropped some details regarding Dragon Ball FighterZ
and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
. Each game has a new character joining their respective rosters, and the latter has new free DLC on top of some added gameplay features.
Starting with Dragon Ball FighterZ
, the mysterious Android 21 has officially been added to the game's roster of playable characters. Android 21 is a completely new character, having never appeared in Dragon Ball
or any of its variations. Her creation was supervised by the series' author, Akira Toriyama. Android 21 is a scientist who has the same level of knowledge as the creator of the Androids, Dr. Gero. She also has a connection with Android 16, and she plays a significant role in the game's story mode.
Gameplay-wise, Android 21 can use her "Tasting Cut" Ultimate Attack to drain her opponent's energy and gain the ability to use their attacks. Android 21's Meteor Ultimate Attack allows her to turn her opponent into food, which is completely expected when thinking back to the pink Majin villains found in the series. You can see some of her moves in her character intro trailer below.
As for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
, Bandai Namco provided details on a character addition, new avatar costumes and skills, and a new battle system. First off, Jiren from Dragon Ball Super
will be joining the game's roster. He is the most powerful fighter from Universe 11, and some of his special moves include Meditation and Power Rush. Android 17 now has a brand new fighting style, and he is now able to absorb attacks with a new ability.
The addition of Jiren and the new Android 17 is paid DLC; however, there is also free content coming to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
. This free content includes a new battle system called "Limit Burst", which can be used once per fight. Limit Burst offers a boost to the player's abilities that varies depending on the fighter, as well as the number of enemies on the opposing team. Limit Break effects can range from team power-ups to enemy debuffs. This free update will also include the "Awaken" skill, allowing player avatars to reach the Super Saiyan Blue form.
Also, just in case that wasn't enough, the update also provides new swimsuits for Android 18 and Videl.
Lastly, since the release of Dragon Ball FighterZ
is right around the corner, Bandai Namco has also dropped a launch trailer for the game.
Dragon Ball FighterZ
launches this Friday, January 26th.
