The co-op beta for Metal Gear Survive
has just finished, giving console players the chance to return to the world lovingly crafted by Hideo Kojima to fight zombies in tower defence battles. Metal Gear Survive
has been the subject of controversy since it was first announced in 2016. It is the first instalment in the franchise to be released since Konami and Kojima parted ways in 2015, and is set following the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
. One way or another, the upcoming title will show just how important Kojima's guiding hand was to the success of the franchise.
The co-op gameplay of Metal Gear Survive
combines elements of survival horror and tower defence. Players must scavenge for resources such as food, water and crafting materials in addition to protecting their base camp from zombie hordes. Familiar weapons such as Walker Gears and Fulton balloons will appear in the game in addition to a range of new gear.Metal Gear Survive
will be released on February 20th in North America, and February 22nd in Europe.
