Weekend Announcements January 12-14th: SNK Heroines, Dragon Sinker and More

By Rebecca Smith, 11 months ago
After last week's seam-busting weekend announcements, it was far quieter over the last weekend. We still have six titles that you might have missed, though, all of which will be heading to the Playstation 4 and Vita in the future. Take a look:

Dragon Sinker

In EXE-CREATE's retro-style RPG, an evil dragon who is causing havoc. Wyrmvarg was originally sealed beneath the surface by a party made up of a human, an elf and a dwarf, but he broke free. Now, one man must team up with up to 11 other characters to sink the dragon once and for all in turn-based battles where players can swap between three teams of characters for the best result. The title is coming to Playstation 4 and Vita in Q1 2018.

Below The Game's puzzle-based action-adventure title puts players in the role of the titular Haimrik. He finds a book and quill but no ink, so he decides to do the only sensible thing and use his own blood to sign his name. Doing this absorbs him into the book and a fantasy medieval world, where he faces magic, warriors and dragons. Players run over the words that are on the floor, grabbing some of them to make them come to life and using them to defeat the words that threaten Haimrik. The title will be coming to Playstation 4 later this year.

Last Encounter

Savage and technologically superior aliens are the threat in Exordium Games' roguelike twin-stick shooter, and it's a part they're taking fairly seriously. With all hope gone, players assume the role of the last remaining human pilots trying to stop the enemy in their own territory. The galaxies are procedurally generated but you'll have a variety of upgradeable ships with a number of different attributes to help counter any unpredictability. The component-based weapon system also allows players to customise bullet type, fire pattern and other factors. Local co-op is available for up to four players to take on the aliens together when the game is released on Playstation 4 later this year.

SNK HEROINES Tag Team Frenzy

SNK's 2 vs 2 fighting game allows players to take the role of some of the developer's iconic heroines from previous titles. The aim of the game isn't just to chip your opponents' health down all the way; you'll need to use a Dream Finish technique to be declared the winner. There will be Special Moves that can be activated at the touch of a single button, and special items that can turn things around instantly. You'll also be able to watch matches online and bet on the outcome using in-game points. The winnings from these bets can be used to buy voice clips and costume accessories so players can customise their fighters. The title will be coming to Playstation 4 later this year.

Super Cane Magic ZERO

Studio Evil's rather crazy action-RPG enters a world that has been created by cartoonist Simone Albrigi, otherwise known as Sio. The game tells of the events after AAAH! the dog eats a powerful magic cane, unwittingly throwing the world of WOTF into a state of chaos when the village of Poptarts explodes. Dude, Dudette and their friends must collect items to eat or throw at enemies, survive the reality-transforming spells and defeat their enemies across three different modes. This can be done alone or with the help of three friends in local co-op. The title will be coming to Playstation 4 this spring.

The Forbidden Arts

Soon to enter Early Access on Steam, Stingbot Games' action-adventure platforming title won't be arriving on Playstation 4 for quite a while yet. The game's hero, Phoenix, is suffering visions and seeks help from a druid. In doing so, he realises he has pyromancy powers that can be used to stop a powerful necromancer from destroying the world of Chora. With the help of his companions, he'll overcome mental and physical challenges and discover new powers to assist him along the way. You'll need to wait until early 2019 to get your hands on this one as the game is currently only at the alpha stage of development.

Will you be getting any of these titles?
