Metal Gear Survive's Single-Player Campaign Revealed, Beta Announced

By Andy Mills,
With only a couple of months until the release of post-Kojima Metal Gear Solid spin-off Metal Gear Survive, Konami has revealed a bit more about the title with a look at the game's single-player campaign as well as the announcement of a multiplayer beta coming before the title's release.

Metal Gear Survive 1

Picking up from the final stages of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the player — a random Mother Base soldier — is pulled through a wormhole that takes that soldier to a dangerous world filled with all manner of biological threats and hostile environments. The player will have to adapt to survive, including building up a Base Camp. If the sound of that intrigues you then you should check out the over six-minute long trailer, which goes into more detail.

It's not all single-player news either as those of you who watched the full trailer will know; Konami also announced that the game would be receiving a multiplayer beta before the game's release. Coming a month before the game's full release, this beta will allow players to try out the game's co-operative mode to fight alongside friends. Those who participate in the beta will receive rewards in the full game too, with bonus items including a FOXHOUND name plate, Bandana accessory and even a Metal Gear REX head.

Metal Gear Survive's beta will be available from January 18th until the 21st, before the full game releases a month later on February 20th.
