Back before the likes of Playstation and Xbox, there was Penguin Wars
. Originally released on arcades in Japan way back in 1985, publisher Dispatch Games has announced a remake for the title, unsurprisingly also called Penguin Wars
Starting with five balls on each side, the aim of the game is to get ten balls on the opponent's side, with strategies like hitting the opponent with one ball to stun them, providing the opportunity to get more over. With this remake, there's a story mode where players can level up their characters, who can then be used in the game's multiplayer, both locally and online. Other additions include multiple new rule-sets and a remixed soundtrack from notable Japanese musicians that Dispatch promises "will make you want to listen to the music while you’re out for a run or dance to on a Friday night with the family".Penguin Wars
is set to come to consoles early next year. There'll even be a limited physical edition that will come with a digital code for the game's full soundtrack for $30.
We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Penguin Wars trophies.
