Weekend Headlines July 28th-30th Pt. 1: Destiny 2, Gran Turismo Sport and More

By Rebecca Smith,
We couldn't bring Weekend Announcements back without bringing Weekend Headlines back with it. Accompanying the 12 announcements this week is a list of trailers, screenshots, release dates and other details that appeared over the weekend, all of which might have slipped past you. There was so much news that we've split the article into two parts. Take a look at part one:

Blue Reflection

In GUST Studios' latest JRPG, Hinako must take on a mysterious enemy known as the Sephira. She does this using the special powers of a Reflector, which makes for some interesting battles. You can take a look at some of the battle mechanics in the game in the new gameplay video below.

ChromaGun

It's hard not to compare Pixel Maniacs' upcoming title to Portal, especially when the developer admits that they "wanted to recreate that feeling of playing Portal for the first time, and bring back just a little of that magic". You'll get to find out just how similar it is when the game is released on August 22nd. For now, take a look at the first-person puzzler in the new trailer below. Just remember, they're colours, not portals.

Dead Alliance

Last weekend was the free multiplayer beta for Illfonic's upcoming team-based multiplayer zombie shooter. If you weren't able to get your hands on the game, we've procured a trio of screenshots that demonstrate what you missed. The game will be out on August 29th if you need to mark it on your calendar.

Destiny 2

When Destiny 2 is released next month, there will be the inevitable console bundles that come with it. The PS4 Pro bundles will include a copy of the game, its Season Pass and "Premium digital content" (Legendary sword, Legendary player emote and Cabal Empire themed emblem). The PS4 Slim bundles will come with a copy of the game. Strangely enough, there will also be a limited edition controller, although this will not be included in any of those bundles. The white controller will have a touchpad customised with the game's logo, plus the logo and character class insignia in gold on the controller itself. The controller will be available from September 6th, although strangely not in the UK.

Fire Pro Wrestling World

Spike Chunsoft is initially concentrating on PC for the new instalment of the Fire Pro Wrestling franchise. As such, the game has just moved into Steam Early Access. To celebrate the occasion, a new trailer has been released. While the title will be coming to Playstation 4, its release is a long way off as this version of the game will not begin development until after full release on PC. For now, though, you can have a look at the trailer to see what you can anticipate.

Graceful Explosion Machine

Vertex Pop's upcoming shoot 'em up was one of those titles that just popped up out of nowhere before disappearing once again. However, they're back and this time with good reason — the game has a release date. You'll be able to blast, hack, shoot and explode your way to victory on August 8th. In the meantime, check out the game's latest trailer below:

Gran Turismo Sport

It will have taken nearly four years, but in October there will finally be a Gran Turismo game on the Playstation 4. Playstation Underground managed to get their hands on the title to try out a variety of the game's single-player modes. These include "bite-sized" missions and the tutorial-like driving school challenges that are designed to help you to improve your driving.

GUNDAM VERSUS

VSTG Project's latest in the famous giant robot mech series will be arriving in the west on September 29th. Before then there will be an open beta for players to try out the game first. No more details about the beta have been revealed but they're promised soon. Players who don't need the beta and already want to pre-order the title will get receive some bonuses if they do so. Certain retailers are offering the "BN-876 ß Hot Scramble Gundam2" as well as two bonus DLC characters: "ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus" and "GN-005 Gundam Virtue".

Limited Run Games

Gone are the days when you wouldn't know what releases were coming next. So that you can plan ahead, Limited Run has revealed at least some of the titles that will be coming over the next four weeks:
The contents of the Wonder Boy Collector's Edition have also been confirmed. You'll get an oversized box with a copy of the game, an 18 x 24 inch poster, 2-disc physical soundtrack CD, and a 10-card trading card pack.

MOTHERGUNSHIP

Who remembers the Hugbots from Tower of Guns? Well, the developer's next creation, first-person shooter Mothergunship, will see the creatures return due to their overwhelming popularity in the previous title. Their exact role is yet to be revealed but the developer is currently taking suggestions on what mean things he could do to the player if they killed one. If you have any fantastic ideas, join in the discussion on Twitter.

Stay tuned for part two and more gaming news that you may have missed.
