Original Journey from Developer Bonfire Entertainment Is A Mixup of Genres

By Ashley Woodcock,
Publisher Another Indie and developer Bonfire Entertainment have teamed up to bring a title to gamers with an eclectic mix of gameplay elements in the form of Original Journey. The game will take elements from genres such as "shooting, platforming, tower-defense, racing, and puzzles" and put them together with strong narrative in a mysterious and forever-changing world.

The game will revolve around the Ato, "a race of space faring vegetation", who are on a quest to save their home world. In order to complete this massive quest, the Ato will need to get their hands on the Origin Stone, "an artifact of unlimited power" that is on the ominous Planet Shadow, according to the grapevine. The Ato will need to invade this planet if they want to have any hope of surviving, but how far will they go to save their own planet from certain doom?

You will join up with the Ato army and take control of The Rookie. Don your customizable mech armour and tinker with the buffs that will affect your speed, life recovery, fall damage and more. You can even arm the Rookie with turrets and upgradeable weapons that each have their own distinct playstyles, providing different solutions for different situations.

Iain Garner, Director of Developer Relations at Another Indie, gives us a preview of what's to come in the following statement:

Original Journey demands skill to vanquish the creatures of Planet Shadow and offers an arsenal of weapons so players can find their favorites, but the story asks some hard questions. Original Journey will take players on an action-packed journey as they explore the limits of their own morality.
