New Details and Media for The Persistence

The Persistence from new developer Firesprite promises to scare the pants off of players while they struggle to stay alive after a terrible accident in outer space. Hundreds of crew members of the spaceship The Persistence are accidentally teleported into space during a science experiment. In a desperate bid to save the crew, the ship's AI Iris brings them all back, but during the return trip, their DNA is all mixed together and begins to mutate with some horrifying results. Thus begins The Persistence.

As a surviving crew member, it's up to you to save the ship, but you first have to manage to stay alive. One of the enemies you will have to face is The Berserker:
He’s 9ft tall, over 4ft wide, and has serious anger issues! It’s safer to run and hide when you see a Berserker but by taking a risk, you can use his rage to your advantage.

If you can somehow cause him damage, then the red mist descends and he’ll smash anything and anybody including other mutated crew! Of course, if he spots you then his snarling face is going to be the last thing you ever see!

To defeat him and other monstrosities along the way, you have to carefully choose your strategy. Your first stop will be the Fabricator machines, which allow you to make lethal power-ups such as "The Anti-Grav Smash" (i.e. Hulk Smash!) or a half-dozen small killer droids called "Swarm Droids." The approach is up to you.

This is a VR title, so the game promises to be terrifying all by itself, but Firesprite has added a twist. The title has a companion app that will let up to four non-VR players connect to the PS4 with their tablets or phones, allowing them" to directly affect gameplay." How exactly the game is affected hasn't yet been specified.

We also have two trailers fresh from E3.

The Persistence will be coming to PS4 and the VR, but no release window has yet been specified.
