Trove to Add Mini Games and New Challenges to Console Versions

By Kelly Packard,
A blocky sandbox title? With mini games?! No one has ever done that in the history of video games! Okay, Minecraft jokes aside, Trove is soon to add the mini games from its PC version to its newly-launched console versions. If you read the fine print, the addition of mini games will also offer new options for the challenge-related trophy.

When the patch goes live, there will be some premade game modes in effect:

  • Target Practice – Every class can try their hand at a ranged combat – this minigame challenges hand-eye coordination. Blast apart targets to collect points! This style of minigame can be custom built in your Club Worlds but only Racing and Ring Collecting appear in the Hub at the top of the hour.
  • Racing – Glide through the air with the greatest of ease as you fly through rings to finish the map with the best time. Be on the lookout for power ups to improve your race time!
  • Coin Collecting – Run around the map collecting Silver Coins (one point) and Gold Coins (five points). Find the best route to maximize points and collect your way to victory!
Players can also create their own maps using the Worldspring Crafting Bench.

In a post detailing the mini games, it was also mentioned that mini games will "provide more options for players looking to complete Hourly Challenges," relating to the Here Comes a New Challenger! trophy.

According to the article, "At the top of the hour a portal may spawn in the Hub leading to one of two types of minigames – Racing and Coin Collecting. Hop into the portal to be taken to the current Minigame map and take part in these quick Challenges." Perhaps these new mini game challenges will end up being preferable than the ones currently available every hour?

Mini games are set to be a part of Trove's "Megalithic Update," which does not yet have a release date.
