Paladins Opens Console Beta to Everyone

By Kelly Packard,
Hi-Rez Studios' first-person shooter Paladins started on PC but eventually gravitated toward consoles. It first landed on Xbox One and PS4 in December as a closed alpha. Cut to March and the development cycle reached a closed beta, for which we gave out 10,000 codes. The time has come for the floodgates to be opened and all players to be allowed in. The game has entered open beta as of May 3rd.

While it's still the same game closed beta testers were already playing, the biggest change is that the code requirement has been dropped and everyone can now download and play the free-to-play title without going through any extra hoops.

The game has reached 24 champions and hundreds of cards with which the various characters can be customized.

If you've played Hi-Rez's other game, SMITE, the free-to-play aspect is structured similarly. Characters can be unlocked with in-game currency or real money and there is also a Founder's Pack that unlocks every character currently available as well as every character that will be available in the future. It also includes other goodies like exclusive cosmetics, all the standard voice packs, bonus currency and more.

The Paladins beta is now open on Xbox One and PS4.

We've got the full list of Paladins trophies - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
