Weekend Announcements April 14-16th: Warriors All-Stars, Naruto and More

By Rebecca Smith, 4 months ago
The Easter weekend is over and our chocolate hoard is likely diminished by now. Despite the four day weekend in many areas, there were still seven new titles that were announced over those days. Well, six of them are new titles and one is a collection of titles that will be new to Playstation 4. Let's take a look:

Dark Rose Valkyrie

As the new leader of Japan’s covert military agency (ACID), players must defend humanity from the threat of the Chimera Virus, brought to Earth by the Black Garnet meteorite. The virus causes people to transform into inhuman creatures that change in form and strength and has wiped out 3% of the world's population. The problem is that the virus isn't the only threat — there's a traitor in your midst and it's up to you to find them. This action RPG features a story from Takumi Miyajima and Kosuke Fujishima of the Tales of franchise. It will be available on Playstation 4 on June 6th in North America and June 9th in Europe.

Deathstate

Bread Machine Games' title is lovingly described as "the best transdimensional indie bullet hell single-stick roguelike shooter ARPG ever made". As the description states, this bullet hell title isn't a twin-stick shooter. Instead, the player will always shoot at an enemy as long as it is close enough, placing the focus purely on movement and avoidance. Players assume the role of a student trying to find the truth behind the disappearance of Professor Elinberg from a New England university. Unfortunately, the student's meddling sees her trapped in a library, but this isn't any old room. This room is suspended between reality and the professor's dark discovery: the Deathstate filled with planes of monsters, bosses, treasures and mysteries. You won't even have to wait too long to try it out — Deathstate releases for PS4 next week on April 25th.

Gunhouse (Vita)

Necrosoft Games has four titles in development right now but only two are confirmed for Playstation platforms. The first is this one. Previously released for the ill-fated Playstation Mobile platform, this cross between puzzle and tower defense will be making its way to Playstation Vita "soon". Players must match tiles and string together big combos to allow them to launch special attacks and a hail of bullets at incoming enemies. Protect the orphans from being eaten by the giant, improbable bosses in this game that never ends.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Legacy

Legacy is not a new Naruto title — that comes along in a minute. Instead, Legacy brings Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 1, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 to the Playstation 4 for the first time and includes them with Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 for the ultimate remastered Naruto Shippuden compilation. The collection of four titles can be purchased at retail with an exclusive metal case, art book and anime disc this fall. Alternatively, if you already own NS:UNS4, the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy will be available digitally and includes the first three remastered titles. The trilogy will also be available this fall.

Naruto To Boruto: Shinobi Striker

As promised above, there is a new Naruto title in development by Soleil Ltd. Featuring fan favourite Naruto characters and teams from the series, such as Naruto, Sasuke, and Team 7, players will compete online in 4v4 matches with all eight ninjas taking part in the battles simultaneously. The title includes a "brand-new graphic style with vivid colors", but most important is the "dynamic third-person ninja gameplay style" where players can use vertical running and jumping to make use of elevated areas and environments with increased verticality. Will you become an elite ninja master? The title will be available for Playstation 4 but we don't have a release window.

Oh, Deer! (Vita)

The second of Necrosoft's titles also has a deceptive name, because I'm pretty sure that a driving game with an emphasis on drifting was not going to be your first guess. You'll need to drift your station wagon along the perfect line to Grandma's house. The catch is that there are deer in the way. Lots of deer. The more deer you hit, the darker and more disturbing the graphics and music will become. Avoid more deer than you hit and the world will become lighter and fluffier. Yes, really. You may have already tried the game's alpha that was also released on Playstation Mobile, but the full title will be heading to Playstation Vita "a bit later" than Gunhouse.

Warriors All-Stars

Omega Force's latest hack and slash one-versus-very-many title brings together a selection of characters from many of KOEI's franchises. A mysterious land is on the brink of destruction after its source of power, a magical spring, dries up upon the king's death. In times of dire need, champions are summoned from other realms but the ritual goes wrong. The heroes are scattered across the world and the young princess Tamaki is tasked with finding and recruiting the best and strongest of these heroes to revitalize the spring. Characters include Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden), Kasumi (DEAD OR ALIVE), William (Nioh), Yukimura Sanada (SAMURAI WARRIORS), Zhao Yun (DYNASTY WARRIORS), Horo and Oka (Toukiden), and Sophie Neuenmuller (Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book). Players in the west will get to try out this PS4 title on August 29th.
