Fans awaiting news regarding the Kickstarter project Fabular: Once upon a Spacetime
will be pleased to hear that developer Batowski has released news update #19. This includes some new details about the progress towards the alpha build of the game and some of the key elements of the title.
In this particular update, the main game hub, the Throneroom, is introduced. This is where the adventure will start when the player is dispatched to save the kingdom and family. It will also be the point to which the player returns when a quest fails. However, if all goes well, it will be possible to persuade some of the different characters that can be encountered to return to the Throneroom, which will open up new quests and potentially new items, enemies, locations and playable ships. As the room becomes increasingly populated with additional characters, the player will notice that the whole mood of the hall will change, from dark and desperate towards a lighter and more hopeful feeling. Along with the explanation, a short video is included showing how this appears in the current build of the game, although given the current progress in the title, there's not all that much to see.
The update also provides some more details regarding the development of the audio within the title. Whilst the original concept was a retro 8-bit vibe, as the team has become more experienced with the Fmod audio solution, a new more realistic soundscape has been developed. To give an idea of how this now sounds, the team has released another short video featuring combat gameplay demonstrating the new sounds.
Fabular: Once upon a Spacetime
remains in a pre-alpha stage of development and no release schedule has been revealed.
We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Fabular: Once upon a Spacetime trophies.
