Most dungeon brawlers follow a familiar pattern. You're the hero, and you need to bash and smash your way through lots of creepy monsters in order to complete your quest. If you ever caught yourself sympathising with these poor monstrous security guards who never get to win, Powerhoof's upcoming Crawl
might be the opportunity to get some revenge.
will allow you to take on the role of the hero as usual, but you also have the option to play as the hulking monstrosities a hero would usually encounter. Local co-op allows for different set ups, whether you team up against the boss monster, control him as a pair, or square off against each other. When not controlling the monster directly, you can maim or generally freak out the hero by rattling chains, throwing furniture and bringing paintings to life.
Starting out as a game jam session but turning into a three-and-a-half-year development project, Crawl
will include sixty different monster types to master. These cover the traditional fantasy stereotypes. You've got your basic rats and spiders, your common-garden witch that can turn heroes into amphibians, and "tentacled wizards teleporting at will". Alright, that last one is a bit less traditional.Crawl
will be released on April 11th for Playstation 4.
