Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiates Become Pathfinders

I have to take my space helmet off to Electronic Arts for coming up with a Mass Effect: Andromeda PR stunt that is very nearly out of this world — putting a group of would-be Pathfinders through real astronaut training.

When the Andromeda Initiative was launched last November it seemed like just another game companion site to build up hype for the next instalment in the Mass Effect Series. However it turns out to have had a hidden agenda involving recruiting human content creators to board the Ark Hyperion, presumably because someone at EA realised that intergalactic exploration is meaningless unless documented on social media.

Electronic Arts is collaborating with the European Space Agency to give their Pathfinder recruits an authentic astronaut training experience at the European Astronaut Centre in Cologne. The lucky content creators chosen to become Pathfinders are:
  • Squeezie from France
  • TheGrefG from Spain
  • Pietsmiet from Germany
  • Jane from Outside Xbox from the UK
  • SciFun from Poland
  • Steffan from the UK

Mass Effect: Andromeda will be released on Playstation 4 in North America on March 21st and Europe on March 23rd.
