Weekend Headlines Feb 3rd-5th Pt 1: Announcements, Patches and Release Dates

By Rebecca Smith,
Last week, most eyes were on a certain match with the words Super and Bowl in its title. Despite this, there was still a fair amount of Playstation news to be found. This included four announcements, a large amount of patches, and a handful of release dates. There were also trailers, screenshots and a reminder about pre-order bonuses for an upcoming game, but we decided to split those off into a second part to stop the article from becoming too long. Take a look at what you missed below:

Knights of Valour was released in Asia in September 2015. Nearly 18 months later, publisher GAMESinFLAMES has confirmed that the "side-scrolling, stage-based beat 'em" will also be coming to Europe. Each of the game's seven playable characters has their own unique abilities and playstyles that allow them to take on dozens of enemies, including "mighty" bosses. Players can collect equipment and learn new skills to upgrade their characters' abilities and create custom skill combinations. Up to four players can team up to take on enemies in online co-op mode when the game is released for free later on Playstation 4 this month.

Nightmare Boy tells the unfortunate tale of the region of Donorok in Noctum. When the region's king, Aster, disappears, chaos engulfs the land and the balance between Monsters, Mongos, and Dreamers is skewed. Now that they're defenceless against the forces of evil, the children of Donorok become trapped in a malevolent wizard’s dreamlike world. Locked in darkness, only the Nightmare Boy, otherwise known as Billy, is willing to enter the nightmare and rescue them. Each rescued child will grant him new abilities and powers, but NPC interactions can go either way — do you dare risk it? You'll get to enter your own nightmare when the game is released for Playstation 4 later this year.

Full Kiss Stranger of Sword City Revisited is a new version of Stranger of Sword City. Using the original as a base game, developer Experience has added new classes, reworked the combat and gameplay systems, put in more items and added another dungeon. Players will be able to try out the new version of the title on February 28th in North America for $29.99.

Tesla vs Lovecraft has all of the elements that you would expect when the designer of the electric AC system meets one of America's most renowned horror authors. Players assume the role of Tesla who is the "last bastion of reason against the neverending waves of madness". This top-down shoot 'em up features lots of crackling electricity courtesy of your Tesla-Mech, splattering gibs and a whole host of nightmarish creatures that spawn from Cthulhu statues. If you are to defeat the lovecraftian horrors in the game, all of these statues must be destroyed.

Updates and Game Patches

The next system update for Playstation 4 will bring along a much sought-after feature: the ability to use external USB 3.0 HDDs. Players can use a HDD up to 8TB in size to store games and applications long after you've filled up your console's hard drive. Other features that it will implement are the ability to use screenshots as the background wallpaper for the home screen, additional improvements to the Quick Menu, a simplified notifications list, the ability to view 3D blu-rays and the ability to post straight to your PlayStation Network Activity Feed. You can find more details about these features in this blog post.

ReZERO Starting Life in Another World The Prophecy of the Throne Asianad Only Memories was released with some buggy trophies. Patch V1.02 should fix the issues with those trophies and allow players to save in EX. It also fixes "most known bugs", although a list of these isn't available.

Headmaster will be getting more content very soon. As well as PS4 Pro support, the game will add Party Mode, eight new levels that you can play with your friends. This includes a basketball level that promises to be difficult even for experienced players. You can take a look at a couple of the levels below.

January has come and gone and there is no sign of Dying: Reborn. While publisher Oasis Games hasn't given a reason for the delay, they have promised that the game will be arriving this month for Playstation 4 and Vita.

The Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Opening Ceremony gave us a fair amount of Final Fantasy news, the first part of which was a release date for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. The game will be arriving on July 11th in North America and Europe. Asia will need to wait another couple of days — they'll receive the game on July 13th.
