Dishonored 2's Second Update: Mission Select and Custom Difficulty Settings

By Kelly Packard,
Following on from last month's Dishonored 2 patch that added New Game Plus mode, the promised Update #2 that adds Mission Select and Custom Difficulty Settings will be available shortly.

In addition to the preset difficulty settings like Easy, Medium, Hard and Very Hard, a Custom difficulty option will now be available. Instead of just adjusting the game's difficulty as a whole, players will be given the option to tweak certain features about their experience, like the effectiveness of sleep darts or the number of enemies that can be drawn to you at once. For those who are supremely adventurous, it also adds Iron Mode, featuring permadeath and no ability to load or save.

A much-needed feature is also finally being added with Mission Select mode, giving players the option to select, play and replay missions out of order. Bethesda has confirmed this will ease up the difficulty on trophies like Clean Hands or Shadow by saying: "You’ll also be able to replay any mission you unlock after the update is installed – giving you a better shot at nailing that Ghost or Clean Hands run." This should be a nice addition with regard to all those missable collectible trophies, too.

Note: these selectable missions will retain the status of your playthrough at the start of that mission (character, chaos, runes, money, choices, etc).
The Steam client will be testing out the patch beginning January 18th, with the full version launching on consoles come January 23rd. If you're curious about the exact patch notes, or were waiting on a bug fix, the detailed notes aren't available yet but Bethesda has promised to update this article with them in the coming days.

We've got the full list of Dishonored 2 trophies - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
