Focus Home and Asobo Studio Announce The Plague

By Mark Delaney, 1 year ago
It wasn't enough for Focus Home Interactive to agree to publish upcoming Spanish Flu-era bloodsucking RPG Vampyr, nor were they satisfied enough to stop the Lovecraftian reimagining of Call Of Cthulhu. They needed more dark and sickly games under their umbrella and thus, in collaboration with Asobo Studio, comes The Plague.

Next to nothing is known about The Plague right now, other than the fact that it exists and is billed as an action-adventure title, but the publisher did say more information is due in early February at their Parisian gaming event, What's Next de Focus. Teaser art seen below seems to indicate the game's focus on two main characters, perhaps siblings or a mother-child duo. The swarm of rats and the approaching monolithic tower paint an image much less than family friendly, which is interesting given Asobo's history. They're better known for being the lead on several Pixar movie tie-ins, such as the Playstation 2 era versions of Ratatouille and Disney Pixar's UP. The sort of ill-fated — and simply ill — aesthetic of The Plague could be a drastic new direction for the studio.

Only "PC and consoles" were mentioned with regard to platform destinations. We'll know more in just a few weeks. Stay tuned.
