Playstation Experience Roundup: Part 5 - Trailers

By Rebecca Smith,
Playstation Experience isn't just about releasing titles and announcing new games. Plenty of other titles get new trailers and new details, too. In Part 5, we look at some of the new trailers for upcoming titles that had been announced prior to the show.

Absolver

Absolver's latest trailer reminds people of the premise behind the title. The intense combat RPG puts players in the role of a Prospect, one who has taken a scared vow before joing the Absolvers. This elite corps of combatants must fight to maintain stability in the world. Players will wander the lands of the fallen Adal Empire and will encounter other Prospects online in a bid to eventually become an Absolver. Their travels will teach them new combat styles and attacks, as well as allowing them to find better weapons, powers and armour.

ACE COMBAT 7: Skies Unknown

After a year of silence, Ace Combat 7 returns with a new trailer that allows players to "climb into the cockpit of one of the most advanced war planes ever created". Players can catch a glimpse of the game's photorealistic visuals, the "multitude of authentic and futuristic aircraft" that they can fly, the game's return to Strangereal and, of course, some of the franchise's typical dog-fighting action.

Boundless

Another title that has been silent for over a year, Boundless returns to remind you that there is a place for you in its massive open-world sandbox universe. Whether you wish to be a seasoned hunter, a weathered explorer, a master builder, a shrewd trader or a natural born fighter, you can do whatever you like. "Create your citizen, define your role, make your mark, become Boundless".

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

When the trilogy was first announced at E3, it wasn't given a title. Now it has — make way for the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Naughty Dog also explains that this trilogy is more than a remaster: it's a "remaster plus". The gameplay has been rebuilt from scratch to account for modern gaming, meaning that the developer has rebuilt levels, characters and cinematics. They've also added new features, such as unified checkpointing, a save game system, a unified menu system and time trials. Take a look at the first trailer for the game:

DEATH STRANDING

Technically this trailer originated at The Game Awards earlier in the week, but it was re-run at Playstation Experience. The trailer confirms that Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Hannibal) will be joining Norman Reedus as part of the game's cast. If you're expecting the trailer to be less strange than the one that we saw at E3, you will be disappointed. You wouldn't expect anything less of Hideo Kojima.

Fallen Legion: Sins of an Empire

Not only did this action-RPG get a new trailer, it is also coming to a new platform. Joining the previously announced Playstation 4 version of the game is a version for the Playstation Vita. However, the Vita version is not just a port — it has its own unique story. Playstation 4 players take on the role of Princess Cecille, the reluctant emperor of a dying kingdom. As she attempts to restore glory the Fenumia, the Legate plans a coup d’état to take over the throne. Playstation Vita players will instead play out the game's events from the perspective of the Legate. Both the Vita and the PS4 versions of the game will be getting limited physical copies thanks to Limited Run Games, so don't wait too long to place your order for the game that will be releasing in the first half of 2017.

Gran Turismo Sport

The newest trailer for the delayed racing title shows off the photorealism of the game, enabled by "numerous cutting edge technologies such as HDR, VR, and wide color". Take a look for yourself:

Gravity Rush 2

The game hasn't even been released yet, but Sony took the opportunity to announce free DLC that will be releasing in March 2017. "Another Story: The Ark of Time – Raven’s Choice" will feature a new story that focuses on Kat’s partner, Raven. Following on from the events of Gravity Rush and without the assistance of Kat, Raven must battle to save the Lost Children who have been left trapped inside the Ark.

Hob

Runic Games went down a different route for their action-adventure title Hob. Instead of an ordinary trailer, they released a partial walkthrough of the game's Forest level. The developer's President Marsh Lefler and Game Director Patrick Blank uncover hidden secrets, shift the world and explore the mysterious ruins.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

The latest trailer for Horizon: Zero Dawn showcases the beastly machines that players will encounter as they travel through the world with Aloy.

Join us for part 6 where we look at the remaining trailers! You can find the new game announcements in part 2, part 3 and part 4. You can find out about the game updates and surprise releases here.
