Playstation Experience Roundup: Part 2 - Announcements

By Rebecca Smith,
Part 2 of our PSX roundup begins to introduce some of the 26 titles that were announced over the two day event. While we have already revealed Uncharted The Lost Legacy, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and The Last of Us Part II, that still leaves 23 titles to go. Here is the first eight of those titles.

Celeste

Matt Makes Games, the developer behind Towerfall Ascension, has returned with a new platformer called Celeste. Inspired by rock climbing and SNES-era platformers, the game pushes players to climb 250 stages of a mountain, which include a variety of different areas like an abandoned city, ancient ruins, precarious cliff sides, and a haunted resort. This in itself wouldn't be an easy task, but your character also has to battle her inner demons if she is to succeed. The game arrives for Playstation 4 in the middle of 2017 How high can you climb?

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

The third main title in the murder-mystery adventure game series, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony puts players in a less than ideal situation. A new cast of 16 characters has been kidnapped. They're being held hostage inside a school where some will die, some will get away with mere punishment and others will even have to become killers themselves if they are to survive. Nobody can be trusted and the player will have to use their skills to try to solve each murder before they become the next victim. Fast-paced trial scenes and new mini-games will also keep players on their toes. The game will be released in the west on PS4 and Vita sometime next year.

Dino Frontier

The creators of Wayward Sky return with a new VR game to put Jurassic Park to shame. Dino Frontier is a "light simulation" title where players build and manage a Wild West frontier settlement. However, this is no ordinary Wild West -- this frontier has been invaded by dinosaurs. The dinosaurs may well be a dangerous enemy who thinks nothing of eating your settlers alive, but they can become domesticated if you're careful enough. Is the effort worth it to get a raptor steed? Of course, it is! You can build your own dino-rama next year.

Dreadnought

Developer YAGER has teamed up with Grey Box and Six Foot to bring their "class-based spaceship action game" as a console exclusive to Playstation 4. Across a variety of online multiplayer game modes, players can command one of more than 50 massive and powerful spaceships as they take part in tactical team battles. Each of these spaceships belongs to one of five classes with specific roles, like frontline assault, long-range bombardment or strategic support, but they can be customised with different weapons, modules and cosmetic upgrades to suit your wishes. Players can take part in a closed beta at the beginning of next year, although a final release window has not been mentioned.

The Flame in the Flood: Complete Edition

Released on PC and Xbox One already, The Flame in the Flood: Complete Edition tasks players with surviving a rogue-lite river journey through the backwaters of America. The first rain has fallen and the gathering clouds indicate that floods are on their way. Players assume the role of Scout who has strapped her belongings to her raft and is setting out for higher ground, along with her faithful hound Aesop. The one thing to bear in mind is that you only get one life. If you die, you go back to the head of the river and you start your journey all over again. The only small mercy is that Aesop will return with you, and he'll still be carrying the supplies that he was carrying at the time of your death. Will you make it to the end? The complete edition will also include gameplay enhancements and a Directors’ Commentary mode when it is released in January 2017.

Full Throttle Remastered

Following the likes of Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle Remastered is another LucasArts adventure title that will be remastered for Playstation 4 by Tim Schafer and the team at Double Fine. The game features the story of Ben Throttle, the leader of the Polecats biker gang. He has been double crossed by a mysterious enemy that has trashed his bike and messed with his gang... and they're coming back for more. The remastered edition will feature new hand-drawn high-resolution artwork, as well as remastered audio and music when it is released next year.

Games of Glory

Lightbulb Crew's Games of Glory is a MOBA that mixes unique characters with the playstyle and weapons that are usually found in a shooter. The Games of Glory is "the sport of the future" where players can create their own clubs with custom logos and skins. Not only will players be able to take on fellow PS4 gamers, they can also battle alongside and against PC players. The game will enter closed beta early next year -- you can sign up for that here.

Hand of Fate 2

Announced for Xbox One six months ago, only now can developer Defiant Development confirm that Hand of Fate 2 will also be coming to the PS4 and PS4 Pro. The sequel to Hand of Fate brings the Dealer back to the table and restarts the Game of Life and Death. Not only are lives at stake, there's the fate of the empires too. Hand of Fate 2 brings a range of improvements and new mechanics, including the Dealer’s Challenge Board, new challenges, new opponents and companions who will fight at your side. The game will be released in Q1 2017.

Stay tuned for part 3 that will bring more new announcements! You can find out about the game updates and surprise releases here.
