Steep Hands On Preview

By Rich Stone,
Back in the early 2000s, you couldn’t move for extreme sports games. Barely a year went by without a new Tony Hawk’s skating title, and multiple games were released for BMX, quad bikes, and motorcross - there was even a freestyle scooter game.

Extreme winter sports were covered too - both the Amped and SSX series sold well and reviewed favourably, and SSX Tricky is still regarded as an extreme sports classic even today.

Since the launch of the current gen consoles, the genre has been somewhat under represented, with just Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 and Mark McMorris Infinite Air releasing on PS4; it would not be unfair to say that either reviewed particularly well.

Ubisoft is looking to reinvigorate the winter sports genre with Full Kiss Steep, a new open-world multiplayer IP set in the dramatic mountains of the Alps that combines snowboarding, skiing, wingsuit, and paragliding. Last week, we had the chance to squeeze into our salopettes, wax up our boards, and spend some quality time exploring all of the game's various features.

Check out the video to see how we got on (and please note that any graphical glitches in the video were caused by our capture software and were not actually visible during gameplay).
