Round 1: Fight!
Anyone that knows me could tell you that Monster Hunter is my jam. I got the Collector's edition of the Monster Hunter World along with the Limited Edition Rathalos PS4 for my birthday. When one of the employees at may local GameStop saw that I had reserved a used copy of Street Fighter V, they knew exactly why I wanted it: to unlock the exclusive Street Fighter gear in Monster Hunter World. They offered to let me return it after I unlocked my goodies, but I decided to keep it.
When October rolled around and the True Trophies community Challenge came up, I scoured my game collection for Trophies that I could get without starting new games and messing up my completion percentage. Turns out there were some easy ones on Street Fighter V. I got the trophies I needed and more than I bargained for.
Aside from Smash Brothers and Playstation All-Stars, the last fighting game I got into at all was Soul Caliber on Dreamcast. For the first time in forever, I had sore thumbs from rolling a D-Pad for hours. I have since purchased a Quanba Drone Fightstick. Watching beginner videos and reading starter guides has only pulled me in deeper. Whether or not this ends up being a passing interest or a lasting obsession, I can't really say yet; but I definitely have a new appreciation for a genre I have for years ignored.
