Introduction
Name's Yoeri, I'm a software test engineer and programmer for profession. I'm a console gamer for the greatest part, I've tried PC gaming, but I just prefer holding a controller. Even PC games I try to mainly play with a controller apart from some games.
Kind of hard to tell much, I like reading otherwise... I never watch TV, which people tend to find odd. My TV is for my consoles, not to watch TV programs. I might watch a movie or something at times, but if that happens once a year, it's quite a thing already. There are few series that interest me, I've managed to actually watch Game of Thrones, but I bought all those on DVD...
Was mainly curious in the differences between books and TV show.
Gaming
I... started gaming on a SNES. Not my own console, but from my older brother's friend. Although, I suppose I did also at times play on my brother's MSX. At some point I managed to get my own first console while young, which was the Nintendo 64. Later I played also games on PC with Windows 95...
At first I played a ton on like the GameBoy with Pokémon Blue, god was I addicted to that game.
I also played tons of Super Smash Bros. which still is a favourite of mine. My older brother was 10 years older than me and at the time studied in IT (a thing I followed him in), so he had a lot of hacked games at the time that I also played. I guess those were also early ROMs and such as my first encounter with Final Fantasy was Final Fantasy IV back on my Windows 95. Which eventually became my favourite video game series.
For a great time I played a lot of World of Warcraft, but it never really could keep me entertained, so I kept going into that game on and off since the classic days as I did get friends in there. Apart from that I slowly started to get more interested in console gaming as things go and focused mainly on RPG's and fighting games, both genres I still enjoy to this day. My younger brother liked to play a lot of racing games, which... was a genre I did not enjoy at all, but tried to play at times. Also both older and younger brother played a lot of shooters, which we ended up getting a clan in (another genre I was not all too interested in, so I guess I just didn't match that well with my two brothers).
From WoW I also started to look at other MMORPG's and played a ton of different ones. Some kept me entertained, others did not. These days I'm mainly playing Final Fantasy XIV, but I still explore many other MMORPG's that show up. Sadly none of my family ever got really into console gaming and my friends aren't really into it either, so I really just find friends here and there and sometimes some stick, others don't. I guess I'm just weird like that.
I play Dungeons and Dragons and lots of board games with my friends. I'm actually really into board games, which I sometimes wonder if it's odd for someone who also plays a lot of video games. Mainly miniature board games (I have a lot of miniatures I really need to get back to painting), which I have a lot of. Anyway, I'm starting to type probably way too much on the gaming topic. @_@;; Just wanted to try and write a biography as I found one on several of the people on my friendslist (since I recently actually got a ton of people on my friendslist here at TT).
Platforms
PlayStation 4 is definitely my main gaming platform. I'm most of the time on it, way more than anything else. Unless I feel like either playing a game of an older console or some other special reason... or just want to continue Assassin's Creed...
Nintendo Switch is probably my secondary gaming platform... Usually for games like Pokémon, Mario, and The Legend of Zelda. As said earlier in the big Gaming topic, I was really addicted to Pokémon for a time and never really let go of that. So I still grab every new generation. Also I love Fire Emblem since I discovered that. And I'm a huge Super Smash Bros. fan, hahahah.
Xbox One is the third console I usually have connected, but my main reason for playing on that these days is... practically only for Assassin's Creed. I once started the first part on Xbox 360 and since then wanted to do the entire series on the Xbox series. So right now I'm busy with Origins on the Xbox One. It's... kind of the only reason I start it up at this point.
PlayStation 3 is the last console I still have connected to my TV. I still start it up a lot, right now still working on Kingdoms of Amalur, but I lost my controller cable upon moving. So as I'm afraid of my controller running empty, I've left it off until today for completing quickly VF5. Once I refind my cable, I'll be playing more on it again.
PlayStation Vita is my main handheld console, I got quite a few games I have on it that I wish to finish. I'm also always taking it with me to just crush some spare time whenever I'm waiting or am camping.
Nintendo 3DS is my secondary handheld console that was probably my main before, but it's seen less use as the years been going by. I still frequently use it, though.
PC is... well... I dunno, I still start Hearthstone on it, I guess? Just to kill some time. Outside that since this entire COVID-19 happening I use Tabletop Simulator on it to play D&D with my group as we cannot come together. I don't have a gaming PC, I actually don't really buy PC's, I got like 8 PC's and 2 laptops... why? Cause friends, family, acquainted individuals all just give their stuff to me when they're broken and wanting to throw them away, but know I can usually use the parts. So I tend to build PC's and laptops out of scrap and some are surprised I can even get the stuff working. So yeah... they're not really that good for gaming.
Other Consoles are usually pulled off the shelves and put into use whenever I want to continue an old game or just feeling nostalgic. Right now I've kind of collected them kind of... I have from Nintendo, Sega, Sony, and Microsoft kind of most things. I have from Nintendo: a NES, a FamiCom, a SNES, a Nintendo 64, a GameCube, a Wii, and a Wii U for the older main consoles, then a GameBoy, a GameBoy Color, a GameBoy Advance, and a Nintendo DS for the handhelds. I have from Sega: a Master System, a MegaDrive, a Saturn, and a Dreamcast. I have from Sony: a PlayStation, a PlayStation 2, and I already mentioned the PS3 as I still got it connected. Then also the PlayStation Portable for only previous handheld. I have from Microsoft: an Xbox, and an Xbox 360. Then I also have from Nokia the N-Gage. And that's pretty much all of my consoles.
Other
Welp, I dunno what else to add really.
I just been typing too much as things are, probably.
