Driven to the Top (Chasing the Beeps)
Good day fellow gamers, and a belated welcome to 2021!
For many people 2020 is a year they would rather forget, spending large lengths of time not being able to leave the house except for essential items. Being isolated from the rest of society. Spending full days without getting dressed... I guess for most of us on here it wasn't really THAT much different to any other year

.
But away from lockdowns, and on to the normal topic of unlocks.
In the last post I was setting my targets on reaching the last week of GTTSC, sadly this didn't come to fruition as I fell short of the penultimate week, finishing 350 TT Difference short of the cut-off line in 22nd place. I can only blame myself for this as I fully intended to use around 1,000 worth of bonus in order to get that bit of boost towards the end, but me being me I managed to sleep through the cut-off time and despite a late frantic rush in
AO Tennis 2 I couldn't quite get there. I had managed to earn 460 TT Diff over the last few hours, but I just couldn't get the two trophies which would have added another 475 to that total which 'might' have been enough. Alas, 22nd from 308 was still a fairly decent run and a good follow up to the 20th place achieved last year.
With that in mind I may as well reflect on the past 12 months.
I had started 2020 needing to work through 1009 pages of leaderboard entries over 8 different categories, with a bit of direction over the last 12 months I had managed to cut this figure more than in half to 473 pages at the start of this year, as of right now I have that down to 450 (but this is still based on the tables from Jan 1st). I have decided to set myself goals, very optimistic goals, on reaching the top 1,000 in the TT leaderboards in 7 of these categories, which a target for the top 500 in terms of Games Played (seeing as I'm already inside the top 1,000 there). A bit of quick maths will show that this brings the total leaderboard pages down to 150, but for a more realistic goal, ending this year with only 250 pages left to work through is pretty much the main target.
There was one TT update which caught me completely by surprise though. Finding myself top of the 2020 leaderboards for Racing games in England in terms of both Trophies won, and second in terms of TrueTrophy scored was a surprise to say the least (4th and 7th in Europe respectively). I know I play plenty of Racing games as they are usually an easy way to pass some time, but I didn't realise it was quite so often

.
I doubt that will be repeated this year though, I started by having a mini "bean dive", bringing my completion percentage down from 42.55% to 41% , but the extra 24 games has already took me 11% of the way towards my yearly "games played" goal. I've since brought it back up to 41.33%, but still a long way to go to reach the 50% marker I've set for myself.
Since elimination from GTTSC I've been a little more relaxed in my gameplay. Barring the bean dive I've managed to finish 4 games over the course of January (excluding DLC). I feel I've got a couple of good games in the backlog that I can continue to work through to a completion and hopefully that percentage will rise a fair bit during the rest of January and in to February before the new PS Now and PS Plus titles are announced.
This week has also seen the start of the Warboats contest, with 64 trophies picked out for the contest it gives a bit of a challenge for me in terms of working through a few titles I might not have considered returning to any point soon over the next few weeks. Even if I manage to sink all of the ships I will probably still aim to finish off the rest of the trophies, just as a little side quest to give me a bit of direction.
Tonight will hopefully be the day I FINALLY manage to complete the DLC packs in Saints Row IV, then it's on to these Warboat trophies.
Until next time,
Keep Gaming and Keep Scoring!
