GTTSC Strategies or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Decay
TT difference.
We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious.
DPH. What is it and why should we consider using it?Whilst high-dif scoring titles are a simple (and most obvious) way to gain your score, do take note of how long it'll take you to gain the most from your chosen titles. For example, let's start with one of the most notorious titles on PSN:
Crypt of the Necrodancer.
Including DLC, CotN holds a whopping 13.1k TT dif. It would be an immense feat to pull off during the entirety of the event. But there's one, teensy little downside...
That's correct, dear reader. 900 hours
as a minimum to pull off one of the most epic, foot-tappiest, brain-meltingly plats of all time. So how does this pertain to DPH, and what even is DPH?!
DPH is TT
Difference
per
Hour. How can we determine DPH?
That's
Difference (x)
divided by
Hours (y), equalling DPH (z).
Back to Crypt of the Necrodancer. 13,107 difference, divided by 900 hours giving us a DPH of...
14.56.
Onto a main-stay of past GTTSC's,
Totally Reliable Delivery Service.
TRDS has it all. 2x stacks, the ability to be finished in less than 8 hours solo and 2x easy DLC trophies, also with a decent amount of dif. So why should you choose this as opposed to CotN with its mega dif?
DPH. The EU stack of Totally Reliable Delivery Service has a DPH value of
231.5. That's almost 16 times higher than CotN! The Necrodancer will probably stay in that Crypt (idk, I haven't played the game fully).
Our next game is Bus Simulator 21: Next Stop (PS5). The fantastic
Cloud-side managed to pull this one out of his magic hat in the final week after the most recent patch had fixed the dodgy trophies. Whilst BS21:NS has dropped a staggering 5.4k decay since then, Cloud-side managed the plat in 65 hours, giving BS21:NS a DPH of
303.2, at the time of completion.
Currently, BS21:NS sits at around 236.5 DPH although this is expected to drop.
In short, you could focus all of your efforts on Crypt of the Necrodancer for that mega plat, with no guarantee that your gamble will pay off before your inevitable elimination.
Short and sweet titles will score more than you think.
