Yeah, when Slayer went on a mad Steam achievement rampage last month, the feed was totally unusable! Makes what Clanky did seem like nothing.
I have everything condensed so if anyone goes on a mad spree i don't get that issue.
Yeah it is always strange when the feed is 3-4 entries and that's it. Especially when I got 20k on TSA last month =)
I think the feed options should how many items display instead, so someone winning 89 trophies counts as '1'
Where in the settings?
Game Pages- Site Settings - Group same game same day trophy wins (change to YES) and Group DLC in trophy list (change to YES)
That is if you want to group everything up. But otherwise to extend look for Friend feed (under Friends Feed title) items and change the number mines set to 200.

There is also a setting for grouping comments with 3 or 4 feed items.
Just looked it up, the setting is called Auto collapse comments, set it to yes. It's the same thing as the same day trophy wins basically.

Ah yes, I remember playing the multiplayer a few years ago and having the same issues - lost progress several times on my way to the General rank trophy. Damn
frustrating and I'm not sure there's a way to prevent it :/
