I decided to start reviewing games i play in a short blog. It's not meant to be a full review, just my thoughts that might help people that are on the fence about a game. To start this process off, Godzilla gets the first shot. I think i will start posting them as reviews. Feel free to like or dislike and tell me how i can improve them as i tend to take a different style than a proper review.GODZILLA
I picked this game up from gamefly. I looked at reviews when i found out it was on the way and prepared myself for a game that was not good and would not be completed because of the grindiness. I had a slight hope i might like it as i read some people's positive opinions and i tend to find things i like instead of what i don't in games. Boy, was I wrong. If you like your games to feature a walking tank with simplistic attacks doing the same thing over and over again, this might be for you though. I don't understand why people like the dynasty warriors series, so i guess people could like this.
The "Story" takes less than an hour to finish. You literally play 7-9 missions that take a few minutes each to finish. Every level you have to destroy all the generators which are basically skyscrapers that have a defensive shield that will occasionally blast you. During each level after a certain amount of time, another monster will appear that you have to fight. The combat is absolutely atrocious. Spamming buttons with big clunky monsters was just too boring for me. There is 1 more thing you can do in each level. There are 4 video point that you have to get into a zone, click R3, and sit there a few seconds to capture video of your destruction. It is strange playing as Godzilla or another monster and having the people you are trying to destroy get tips on how to defeat you. I beat the story mode once and didn't unlock any powers for any monsters although i did unlock quite a few monsters. I realized just how many times i would have to do that chore and decided i was done. Graphically it felt like a late ps2 game with the exception being monsters. They were actually good looking but not nearly enough to enjoy watching.
I played 1 versus mode game. Got right into the match against a guy that had played quite a bit and evidently had his monster leveled higher as his ranged breath attack cooldown was a lot shorter than mine. I lost, but didn't get beat too bad. A little more strategic than story mode, but a good fighter it is not. Other than those 2 modes i entered the other passive modes to get a few trophies and then decided after maybe 2-3 hours that i was done with this forever.
I ended with 13 of 45 trophies and 224 of current 3131 TT score. Good thing completion percentage is something that doesn't bother me. To complete however, it is not very hard. It is just very grindy unlocking all the upgrades.
On a scale from 1 - 10, this is what i would give the game:
Gameplay / Control : 1
Sound : 3
Graphics : 3
Trophies : 1
Overall = 1 (0.5 stars)
