Slowed To A Crawl By Blistering Heat.
It's not just hot, it's unreasonably hot. Today it was 30°C, (that's 86°F). That the overall average temperature for the Sahara fucking Desert!!! I'm in Northern UK. I'm at a higher latitude than every major city in Canada, yes even you Edmonton (by 0.1 of a degree); I should not be putting up with these temperatures. It's 21°C right now, and it's MIDNIGHT!
Naturally, that means that everything is just way too hard. I can't be arsed... I can't even find the will to play my games. All I want to do is sleep and drink the entire North West supply of Orange and Apple Juice. Looking at my recent trophies I've had an entire week without a decent game playthrough. I got the second ending on Beyond: Two Souls
and I've been tackling Rogue Legacy
and Velocity 2X
both on Vita, but I'm rarely playing more than 20 mins at a go, sometimes little more than that per day. The last few days I've literally got my trophies in the last hour of the day, so my current streak has been precarious at best. That said it's only an 11 day streak as a migraine ruined my last streak massively.
Limited Run have another procedurally generated 2D platformer coming out on Vita tomorrow called Xenon Valkyrie+
, and I'm somewhat tempted by it.
The needless cheesecake 12 year old over-sexed anime girl on the cover is something I could have done without frankly; you can always trust Japan to be unapologetic paedophilic perverts. But the games itself doesn't look too bad actually. Kinda like Spelunky
from what I've seen. I was expecting a bullet-hell space shooter based on the cover, because for some reason, even though you never see the pilot in game they always make the pilot of the mech or spaceship in bullet hell games a pre-teen anime girl with giant hair, wearing a string bikini. It's genuinely pathetic.
That aside, just trying to decide whether I want to spend money on this game now, or wait and spend much more getting it second hand should I decide to pick it up via eBay. I'm a bit strapped at the moment, but I can probably manage it. Would prefer to see some more linear platformers though, all this procedural generation is fine but it lacks the elegance of proper design work.
