Revitalised, But Disappointed By Delays
I've found my jam again when it comes to gaming, was playing Splasher
yesterday, and booted up the Spider-Man
DLC early this morning. Got loads of games to play so there's plenty out there for me to be doing. Even double-dipped on the PS4 version of Dynasty Warriors 8 XL Complete
as I've been enjoying Warriors Orochi 4
, but I think the original series is just a bit better fundamentally. The AI seems smarter, the levels seem better arranged, the challenge is higher, and the cartoonishly daft story is at least a story unlike in the Orochi series where previous relationships between characters are largely ignored and it's just a series of battles where the guy who was just fighting you to the death immediately switches sides and joins you after the level finishes, this happens literally every single level, and they act like that's normal... I know I say I don't play Musou games for the story, but when it quite literally doesn't have one, it does detract from the gameplay.
Enjoying the Spider-Man
DLC, though the load times seem unusually long; maybe it's because I'm using external storage. That would make sense. I've not got too far into it and I'm debating whether I want to do a new game plus playthrough yet. Maybe, I'll decide once I've finished the three DLC chapters. Platformer wise Splasher
is a fantastic game, it's really easy to pick up and play, very speed-runner friendly, one of my favourite modern platformers so far. Really though I've been avoiding starting anything big because I had a game planned for December... and now due to unexpected delays I don't.Path Of Exile
, a fantastic game I've played quite a bit on PC; is finally coming to PS4 and I was really looking forward to tackling it with a controller and see how it holds up, with the full intention of going for the platinum trophy. Sadly the game has now been delayed, so rather than having it come out in 5 days, I now have another 2 months to wait as it's scheduled for February. Extremely disappointed as it was going to be my online game of choice until March when the The Division 2
comes out; but now they'll actively be competing for time, which is a shame.
I suppose this gives me time to get the last multiplayer trophy in The Last Of Us
, and that extremely time consuming "reach level 50" trophy in Red Dead Redemption
. These have been on my radar for months now and I keep not doing them... largely because they're extremely time consuming. Still, this means I have to find something else to play over the next two months. I'm probably going to dive back into Monster Hunter World
at some point as I can play that with friends online.
One game I do want to go back to is Hollow Knight
, I barely dipped my toe in there and I think it has potential to become a favourite of mine if I give it the time investment needed.
