PermalinkReview: Saints Row - Gat out of Hell
External image

Not long after the Events of Saints Row 4 It's Kinzie's Birthday and we find ourselves back on the Ship, Where Your Character (The Boss) Gets dragged into hell by Satan after playing a little game on Zinyaks Oujia Board. Loyal Friend to the Boss is Johnny Gat who threatens the Oujia Board To Take him as well, Kinzie volunteers to join also tags along. Welcome to New Hades, Get comfortable you're going to be here a while. Upon first arrival Gat and Kinzie sees a billboard of the Ultor Corporation and the first clue on who to talk to. Dane Vogol. Johnny Gat has a personal hatred for Dane and rushes to see him. Dane knew that one day he's have to Deal with the Saints and was prepared ahead of time. Giving you Lucifer's Cracked Halo as a Gift for not killing him grants you the ability to Fly and Run at Lightning Speeds.

External image

Dane is a businessman and like all business men have a ulterior motive in mind, You help him overthrow Satan and you can have your boss back, but in return puts him in control of Hell. A Risky Deal but one that needs to be done. They always say Dont Deal with the Devil but Dane was no Devil and Dane was not going to Cross the Saints a Second Time after all messing with them is what got him in hell in the first place. We learn How to Fly Correctly in this game. No Hovering. Let me tell you that Flying in this game feels so much better than Gliding in Base Saints Row 4. After enough upgrades you'll be able to infinity fly and it feels so good to just soar the skies of new Hades.

Your Job is to piss Satan off and as Johnny like to put it "Shoot him in the Face" You have to do whatever it takes, Destroy, Kill, Have Sex with the Devil-Girls. Whatever. There are a Variety of Activities to Pursuit here from HellBlazing which is just SR4's Blazing with Flight, Mayhem (Blow everything up) and Fraud, You will surely get Satan's Attention and he will start coming after you like a Angry Bull sending Legionnaires, Spires, Dark Inciters and more to stop you. The way you play the game is like Saints Row 4 in which you'll get powers similar to it's base game. Blast, Super Stomp, and Aura makes a return here along with a new addition to summon. Death From Above also makes a Return here.

In the previous Review I mentioned a Character unfamiliar to the series. Her name is Jezebel (I love that name by the way) She's Satan's Daughter forced to marry your Character (The Boss) She has a strong Defiance against Satan but Satan's Determination and Ferocity is strong telling Jezebel that if she doesn't marry the president he'll kill her along with the president. She continues to defy but also finds Johnny from a newspaper clipping (Word travels fast) and heads to the Ultor Corporation to see her saviour. Johnny not buying it.

As to note there is no Music in the game license wise, but there are musical-like numbers sung at each chapter (Kinda) It was funny to see Johnny Gat singing as he stated in previous games. He doesn't Sing. Nether does Kinzie as Stated in Saints Row 4 when the Boss wanted her to sing along to Paula Abdul. We get to Hear Kinzie Sing full stop here. It was nice because I Love-Love her Voice. Speaking of which you get to play as Two Characters this time around. You can switch between Johnny Gat and Kinzie Kensington. Both very likeable characters, Both with funny comments and quips to other characters. Both make references to the previous Saints Row games with Kinzie making a Sick-Burn to Grand Theft Auto when making her Idle. She says "Say what you want about Saints Row but at least they let you play as a Female" I Never Laughed so Hard upon hearing that statement. I kissed the screen, Kinzie you are Awesome.

Other than the fact that Jezebel is Satan's daughter forced to marry the boss there really is no back-story to Jezebel other than the fact she just exist to push plot. Jezebel is a really cute character and Since She returns to the Ship at the end of the game gives me hope that she'll play a role in Saints Row 5. Earth was Blown up in Saints Row 4 so we got to see a lot of Familiar Faces in Hell. First is Viola Dewynter [White Shades] who found her sister Kiki [Pink Shades] who was also in hell. Before Viola Died she was Head of the Federal Reserve in the Bosses Administration for the White House. Other Fimilar Faces we see and hear about is Philip Loren and Killbane Both of them ran a Gang in Saints row the Third. Killbane is Running the Snowballs Chance Casino in Hell. Which brings us to the last Familiar Face in Hell and the last we'd thought we'd see. DEX. Dex was always the Avoided topic to the boss whenever he was mentioned. Johnny never wanted to talk about Dex. Dex played a huge role in the saints row history timeline,

External image

External image

He worked with the saints in SR1 to help with eliminating Stillwater of the Los Carnales, Vice Kings and Westside Rollerz. He then Worked for Ultor in Saints Row 2 effectively betraying The boss and Jilius and got Julius to Betray the Boss at the end of Saints Row 2. In Saints Row 3 he was only mentioned but Dex was still alive. which makes me believe that Dex Died with the Destruction of Earth. to Fall in hell as a wandering Husk forever. We get to Effectively Kill Dex Over and Over and Over Again for Revenge for his betrayal. And Satan says if you die, It'll Hurt and your body gets formed back painfully so Dex has to go through that every time we kill him. I managed to kill dex 210 times During my Playthrough.

There was a few things I didn't like about this DLC. The Trophy Double Trouble.
Saints Row: Gat Out of HellDouble TroubleThe Double Trouble trophy in Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell worth 49 pointsPlay Saints Row: Gat out of Hell Co-op for 3 hours

UGH!!! NO! Just No!, Never Force me to Team up with others for the sake of a Trophy. That was horrible. AND FOR 3 HOURS!! 3 Hours I was forced to hear some dude breathe over the open mic. and trying to start conversation with me. This by far had to be the Worse Trophy in a game period. The second Horrible Trophy has to go to.
Saints Row: Gat Out of HellLet's BounceThe Let's Bounce trophy in Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell worth 26 pointsIn Torment Fraud, hit 5 vehicles in a row without touching the ground

Ugh!!! The amount of time i spent on this horrible Trophy. just kill me now. I was frustrated to all hell here. to those that played the game.. you know what i mean. it comes down to luck at this point because most times it felt like when i needed that 5th car...nothing was ever in sight. Last Painful and Annoying Trophy was.
Saints Row: Gat Out of HellAre You Crazy? The Are You Crazy? trophy in Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell worth 23 pointsGet a Comet into the Ultor lobby

Picture this..Comets are very fragile vehicles, you breathe close to one and it will combust into flames and explode. So imagine having to try and steal one, then drive (CAREFULLY!) to the ultor building and get the doors open and (CAREFULLY!) drive one inside without the car exploding is a miracle in it's own right. a very. painful. miracle!

The Ending I chose was to Retcon the world and re-imagine the world of Saints Row, Agents of Mayhem was Bought and I will be playing that game for the first time. Review Comes later.

Other than the Painful Trophies I listed Above the Platinum wasn't too bad, a few headaches and the forced manditory 3 hour co-op session you gotta have with Blow-Hard mouth-breathers.
Kill me now! I'm just very glad it's over to be honest. The grind was too real in this game. I'd say it was a less than average platinum to get. Will be difficult for some. Frustrating to others.

PermalinkReview: Saints Row 4: Re-Elected
External image

Ok, I understand that the Re-elected Edition was for the next gen consoles. This version I got came with the stand alone DLC called "Gat out of Hell" Which I will review later as well. This Review however is for Saints Row 4.
The 4th instalment in the series, and Home to the dreaded "Fourth and Forty" Trophy. I say that because this game was not worth 40 Hours. I completed The Main Story all DLC's (Enter the Dominatrix and How the Saint's Saved Christmas) and All Side Quests and I still had to wait 20 more Hours doing nothing. Now before I actually start let me clarify that I am naturally A Lewd Person, My mind is normally in the gutter and I like looking at Nude things. Normally you will see it in my actions with future games. With that said don't be surprised when a game allows you to play around with nudity and I just strip my character bare for the sake of Eye-Candy...because I will! With that said let's go.

From Ruffian Thugs fighting for territory, to national celebrities, To being a President of the United States. is there anything the 3rd Street Saints can't do? No, Actually no they can do everything they want. and so Enter Zinyak
A Alien overlord who's sole purpose is to break the president down mentally. Thrown into a Simulation prison you now have to figure out how to escape and save your crew. The story is that directly ripped from the matrix, with some caveats here and there. Kinzie was the first taken by Zinyak but the story never tells you how'd she escaped his prison. The game plays a slight of hand in making you look one way when something else is going on in the background. Right away we play into the hands of a 50's sitcom everything seems peaceful until things starts glitching out and looking weird, wasn't long until you started blowing things up and pissing Zinyak off. Maybe Pleasantville Steelport wasn't your bag. ok, Welcome to Simulation 17, Your new home minus the benefits. No Cribs, No Planet Saints, nothing of yours to call your own. Luckily we have Kinzie, Let's change that.

You are first tasked to buy a gun and some new clothes..and since this is saints row I went with my trusty .45 Shepherd and no clothes...well since you got that Annoying Mosaic Censoring when you go full nude i did the next best thing. Nipple Covers and a Bikini Bottom. Seems fitting. Zinyak wont know what hit him lol. Brace Yourselves I played the Entire game this way. It was great. Anyways. After a while about 20 minutes in, you get your first set of powers. Super Speed and Super Jump. Both fun powers to have soon after the tutorial you noticed Glowing Blue Clusters everywhere. I started collecting them as I see them , OCD is really kicking in now. Note: Let me tell you not once did I feel this was Tedious or boring, I had lots of fun collecting things (That's very Rare). Before you know I'm hopping all around the map collecting these things, Like Pokemon I felt like I gotta collect them all. and if you're a trophy hunter like me....you really do gotta collect them all. There's no avoiding it.

External image

This game gives you a Variety of things to complete from Blazing through races with Super Speed to Throwing things with your mind in "Mind over Murder". Some missions can really be annoying let me explain. Any missions that disable your Super Power can just go die in a ditch somewhere. Those were horrible, I don't care about Protecting and following Night Blade or playing Metal Gear with cardboard boxes in a spy mission those in my opinion was boring to me and I just wanted to plow through those. I wanted powers and I thought Asha was a pretty Meh character I mean she was just introduced in this game and they want me to care about her. I cared more about Shundi and Pierce than Asha, and don't get me started with CID, I felt like the story went downhill from there. Cid is just pretty damn annoying from a story standpoint and a character standpoint. The story with this guy is that he was invaded long ago by Zinyak and cid tried to defy him, Zinyak destroyed his body, so cid is stuck in the simulation like a ghost with no body to go back to...so you're tasked to finding him a body. after you get him one, sure he helps you with taking Zinyak down but they never personally went into his back story...why should I care for Cid? another Hole in the Plot. So if there's a Saints Row 5 we'll have 3 new characters to worry about who doesn't have a Fleshed out Story Line. Asha, Cid and Jezebel (We'll get to her much later).

External image

Let's talk about music which I think this game has a good selection of and is present throughout the game, Songs like Robert Palmer's Simply Irresistible and Paula Abdul's Opposites Attack stands out here because they tie into the story really well. but we have other songs in which you can make a playlist of while you dash around the city. From artists like El-P and Killer Mike, Haddaway and even Cypress Hill. Just like old times pierce gets you to sing. I'm not sure how many of you remember the Virtuoso Trophy from Saints Row the Third where you have to get your character to sing to the radio. Something like that but this was story based. Saints Row always did have a thing with music whether to tell a story or just amuse you with the antics that follow like the ending where Montell Jordan's This is how we do it Plays.

But my favourite moment I'd have to say is the beginning of the game where the rocket shoots into space and Aerosmith's I don't wanna miss a thing plays. Geez i cant even immagine how much of a Copyright nightmare this must be to people who let's plays this game. This is a reason as to why I don't stream. And my Ultimate favorite gun in this game by far is the Dubstep gun (whether it's the DLC or the Christmas Variety) it's a awesome weapon to have equipped at all times. This bad boy clears armies of aliens, And everyone Dances in the streets while you're on a killing spree.

External image

The Super Hero play was fun, Some missions strip them away from me which drained the fun. Some mission forces me to drive when all I wanna do is Run and Jump and Hover over to my next Objective. Let's talk about the Side Scrolling Mission "Saints of Rage" which I greatly enjoyed. Can we please appreciate how even the costume you choose for yourself still works even here.. loved that part. It would've been awesome if Volition created this as a stand alone game 10 stages with your personal character and Johnny Gat. too much to ask? ok. I think Saints Row 4 might be the Best Superhero game we ever had. it's a underrated statement I understand

Pretty Standard faire when it comes to platinum, nothing too overly difficult, A bit time consuming when it comes to cleaning up and that extra unneeded 20 hour wait for that last trophy. all in all Saints Row 4 is a great addition to the Trophy Cabinet. It's all about just clearing everything the game has to offer one by one.

PermalinkReview: The Legend of Korra
External image

Before anyone asks yes, this game has been DE-listed from all stores due to license expiration it happens, I got my hands on this game from someone whom I used to play GTAV with on a daily bases on the Xbox he has a Playstation account
which he let me use because he sold his Playstation. it currently has 8 games which I can use. 2 I already own and played, 3 are sports games (I don't do sports games) and that leave 3 games I'm willing to play.
Legend of Korra is one such game, the other two is "The Deadly Tower of Monsters and Dead or Alive 5: Last Round (Complete)" Which we will get to in another Blog. Right now this Review is about Legend of Korra lets get to it.

External image

The Legend of Korra was made by the developers Platinum Games, the same Developers who brought you the masterpieces Bayonetta and Nier: Automata. Platinum Games from what I can tell treat their IP's with respect, Not once did I hear any foul play involving the developers and that's good. The Legend of Korra was in definite good hands here, What I played was respectful to the series and believe me I've seen all 4 books of Korra. What I respect from platinum Games is that with their Korra game Have a very Original Storyline it takes place after the last season, you'll get references to Unalaq when crossing the giant Gap in the middle of Republic City and a Slight mention of Amon when fighting Chi Blockers.

External image

The Story is very well put together. I very much enjoyed the story, It starts up like the TV show, you know that Intro with Korra and the statue of Aang in Republic City. then it gets deep, I will try to reiterate without spoiling
There's this Mysterious Old Man who's putting a crew together really putting a damper on things. Found a way to take Korra's Avatar Abilities away, not like the Chi-Blockers who are able to lock her powers temporarily but this time it feels permanent, you are now charged with finding out where your powers went and how to get them back. Only one Character from the show other than Korra makes an appearance and that's Jinora Daughter of Tenzin. (unless you count Naga Korra's Polarbear Dog and Guardian of the Avatar.) This game has a lot of Cutscenes that are beautifully Animated and tells the story really well.

I kinda wished Meelo was in the game, he was funny (Be The Leaf!)Oh! I'm so posting a video of that. LOL

External image

The music in the game features tracks from seasons 2 and 4 not to mention the theme song in two different versions and the Pro Bending Theme and Announcer Track. While we are here let's talk about the Pro Bending League, This Sport is a staple in Republic City. For those who don't know what it is. it's a stage with 6 benders on it. Each Side must have a team member of each element. Earth, Water and Fire. the team we control is of course "The Fire Ferrets" Which is a pun named after Pabu (Bolin's Ferret). The members in the team is Mako (Fire), Korra (Water) and Bolin (Earth) Bolin is kinda like the Sokka in the series except Bolin can Earth-bend and he's awesome.

Your Job is to Zone the Enemy Team Back and Knock them off the Ring with your Respected Power. The Avatar (Korra) Cannot use any other power other than Water in the League. Rules are Rules.

External image

External image

The Combat is top Notch, You get everything here, All The Elements [Water, Earth, Fire, and Air + Spirit Bending] The Spirit World is a Huge aspect of this game and that's awesome. Korra makes some references to this about her season two's decision to leaving the spirit realm open a few times. You got Combos, lots of combos as a matter of fact you got at least 10 combos for each Element, there's a damage multiplier for each consecutive hit. There's Dodging and Blocking which can be doubled as a Counter button (You'll be using this alot.) Each Ability can be Levelled up for more Damage potential and let's not forget the sacred and best power in the game "The Avatar State" Which makes you look like a bad ass Super Saiyan, Gold Aura and Everything.

External image

External image

External image

All in All I really really had fun with this game, For Fans of the TV show like me would really enjoy this, it has a good length to it and the Difficulty is fair including Extreme Difficulty for those Familiar with Bayonetta will know to utilize your items, dodge and counter alot and watch your combos if you wanna make it through Extreme. This is a Decent Platinum and I Recommend you play this game if you have it in your backlog.
This game cannot be purchased any longer. Maybe in the future they may re-release it back to the marketplace. but for now you can no longer buy it on Xbox, PS4 and Steam. and that makes me sad. because this game really went underrated.
