3. Oninaki Story walkthroughUpdate notes

Taddan Plains - Raom Meadows - Main

Not much to do for a good few minutes at the beginning of the game, just a bunch of dialogue, cutscenes and learning, integral to the premise of the game, so take your time reading. After said cutscenes, you'll be introduced to battle for the first time, followed by more dialogue.

After this, immediately head south to where you started/came from to get your first save point. Once registered with this, just proceed on with your objective. Once you get to your objective, you'll have to fight against a strong enemy, in which you'll then be introduced to the Cross the Veil mechanic. Go ahead and do what the game wants you to do for this segment.

Hide ads

Now just proceed onward like you have been. There's another save point here just below where the boy was, so make sure to register this one and proceed onwards to your objective. In the next area, you'll find a tough enemy to fight. This'll be like the first time where your veil will be dark and blind, so go ahead and kill this stronger enemy with all the others in the area to cure your veil blindness. Go into the Beyond realm and kill whatever is in this area, then open the two chests here. Staying in the Beyond, you can get across the gap in this cavern using the portal that shows up, meeting with your third save point. Make sure to save your game as there's an upcoming boss.

In the area immediately north of this, there should be a green dot on your map. Cross the veil to initiate a flashback/cutscene. After this, once again be in the Beyond whilst you interact with this figure, being introduced to your first (second) Daemon 2/10 - Zaev of the game, awarding you with your first trophy.

Immediately afterwards, you'll be put into your first major boss fight. This one is tough right off the bat with no warmup. The newly acquired daemon is your best tool, in my opinion. The boss will have two annoying major moves, in which this new daemon will be of use. For one move, it performs a ground pound, causing damage to the entire area. This new daemon allows you to jump with cn_X, rather than dash like with Aisha. Use jumping to avoid the attack. The other attack shoots missiles at you after turning his back to you. You can use the cn_O ability Meteor to send you into the sky, causing most missiles, if not all of them, to miss you. Make use of your 5 incense during this fight too, and also hit cn_L1 to Manifest when you're over 100% to do more critical damage. This boss has a ton of HP and is tough, but it should be doable with some practice. If you continue to have trouble, don't forget you can play this game on Casual if you just quit out and go back to your previous save, which should be just before this boss.

Once done, you should have produced 1-2 Spear Stones for the newly acquired Zaev, as well as a couple of Sword Stones for Aisha. Go ahead into both their skill trees and obtain new skills if you haven't already and make sure to get the free node for both characters for their first memories. Use any save point, even the one just below of this area, and go into the Daemon Lore menu and watch/read both of their memories. Now that you have two daemons, you can switch between them. The one you use is the one you'll obtain Stones for, so use whoever your prefer. Maxing out both these Daemons skill trees in the future will be done either way, so it's a matter of who you max out first.

Now, move onward to your objective once again in the Beyond realm to trigger the next story cutscene. After a bunch of talking, go forward and interact with the door of this house for even more dialogue and lengthy cutscenes.

Szaka - Deto - Main

Not much to do here in this town. Feel free to explore it both in and out of the veil to fill out your map so you can see everything. You'll be here quite a lot, with further progression of the story unlocking merchants etc. The game will want you to fast travel out of Deto, but before doing that, go to the top right corner of the giant square area you're at as you come down the stairs. Here, you will see a little boy's outline, a lost soul. Lost Soul 1 - Longing Boy - Start. His request will now be registered in the Lost Souls tab of Memories, so we'll come back to him later. Now go ahead to any save point, go to Fast Travel, press cn_S for World Map, and proceed to Teppo Ruins. The way this menu works is a little odd. You have to press cn_right to bring up a list of locations, then select the one you want, or click on the picture that pops up when hovering over an area.

Teppo Ruins - The Lost Town - Main

Your veil will immediately be blinded, so proceed north while killing a few smaller enemies to find the bigger enemy causing it. Take him out. He's very simple; he'll raise his arm and swoop it in front of him, so just keep to his back at all times. Aisha and her dash does wonders here. Once he's defeated, he should drop you a fancy new weapon, rewarding you with a fancy new trophy. If not, then enemies from here on out will begin dropping weapons like crazy, so no worries.

Now that you can use your veil again, go into the Beyond realm and explore the little area before this enemy to get some additional XP. Loot a chest before the bridge, and one after the bridge for some materials/incense. Talk to the little boy just beside the second save point. Now you can proceed onward. Beyond the bridge will be another area where you're blinded in the veil, so don't bother crossing over here for a good while. Once you fight the enemy that cures your veil blindness, go left of this enemy to find another lost soul. Lost Soul 6 - Venturous Man - Start. He'll want to see a woman and will automatically come with you. Proceed with the story and we'll deal with his request later. Now go backwards in the area and explore it within the veil for additional XP and stones. Proceed into the door/church, interact with the trapdoor in the corner and enter the next area.

Teppo Ruins - Purewater Ruins - Main

Not much to say about this first portion. Just go ahead and kill all enemies both in and out of the veil, assuming you've cured your veil blindness. Once you're at the point on the map where you can go left, up or down, with the left way being behind a fence, go down for a save point and cross the veil here to access a portal putting you in the right direction. Continue on with the slaughter of the enemies and gaining XP.

This is just a typical dungeon for the most part. It was around this point that I had used Gale Slash enough times to gain an awakening power, so if you're the same, or before/after this dungeon, make sure to go into a skill tree and apply an awakening power to it for added power. Assuming you've been manifesting with cn_L1 as often as you can and killing everything in your way to gain affinity quickly, you'll most likely obtain the following trophy within this dungeon, like I did.

Just before reaching your final destination, you should be in another boss fight. This boss is particularly easy compared to others so far. He just bounces back and forth, punches you for very little damage, and has one stronger punch. No real tactics here, just beat him to a pulp. He didn't pose much of a threat, even on higher difficulties. Proceed to your objective, into the room, and let the cutscenes play out until you're finally in control, back in town.

Szaka - Deto - Main

Your second visit to Deto will be a lot of story-driven happenings, dialogues, cutscenes, etc. Some really important stuff to the story, though. Also a trophy!

Once you finally have control to run around the city, and your next destination is the Dais of Life, do not leave the city yet. In the main square, where save point #2 is, go to the left side, about halfway up. There's a girl sitting on a bench next to a tree and some barrels. Walking up to her will automatically trigger a small scene, resulting in the completion of a lost soul. Lost Soul 6 - Venturous Man - End. Now that we're done here, feel free to adjust your inventory/equipment if you haven't and spend Stones on your Daemons to level them up, getting more skills and more memories. Once you're ready, head on back to the world map via leaving the city or save points.

Kiro Marsh - The Sook Fens - Main

Same routine as always. Go forward and kill everything in your path, cure your Veil Blindness, then backtrack and repeat the killing. In the first major circle of this map, near Save Point #2 is another Daemon. Go into the Veil to interact with them, and Dia is now yours to control Daemon 3/10 - Dia. Dia uses ranged weaponry which will come in handy for many bosses, especially if you're having difficulty with them. Go downwards from this area to go away from the objective, meaning more to explore, more things to kill, and more loot/xp. The next big circle area will have a portal in it, letting you cross the water to the other side. There's nothing on this small island yet, but it's better to have it mapped out. Backtrack to proceed with your objective.

Once you reach Save Point #3, there'll be a new type of fog-enemy to defeat. This one is an orb/portal that'll infinitely spawn enemies. We can use these to grind stones/awakenings/manifesting, but there's no need to until post game as there's plenty for us to still do. Take it out, loot the chest in the Beyond in this area, and clear out all enemies in both Realms for additional XP. Now for a boss.

This boss wasn't particular difficult for me. I used Aisha and was on Normal Difficulty. Always stay by hide side. He'll throw out tornadoes beginning from his front, and he'll also use his spinning-saw-blade-claws to stunlock/damage you. He'll lift up his wings occasionally when attack, then later on they'll be open for long periods when he does bigger attacks. Just damage his side, and try and get around to his back as often for massive damage. This is where Aishas dashing came in handy. I dashed behind him, spammed my moves, especially when I manifested mid-battle. Even the poison doesn't hurt that much from him, so this shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Now proceed to your objectives like normal. Everything should be dead so it's an easy run all the way back to that tiny island from earlier. By the end of this dungeon, you should have acquired these two, if not, no worries, they can happen in any future dungeon/area, and definitely will.

Szaka - Deto - Main

Not a lot of optional stuff here. A bunch of dialogue, a bunch of running around. The only choice you get here is picking a name of a potential suspect, with the correct one being Zale. Though it doesn't really matter who you pick, your destination is the same either way. So, onto the World Map we go for a new destination.

Lake Lud - Kiho Shores - Main

You know the routine, proceed onwards with exploration and killing. To the left is a dead end with an enemy spawner, great for some XP and Stones. Also cures Veil Blindness. Nothing of importance in this next, huge area. Just take your time killing everything in both the normal and the beyond realm, for a ton of xp, materials, and stones. There's a Save Point in the bottom right corner of this huge space. Going up the slope, then to the north will take you to a dead end with an enemy that is blinding your veil. Finish these, then return to to the center and go south this time to another dead end, there's a chest here in the Beyond. Return to making your way to the objective.

Lake Lud - The Sunken Ruins - Main

Once you pass through the door into the new area, you'll have Veil Blindness as per usual, proceed on with this path until you're met with an enemy spawner, take this out to cure your Veil Blindness, then take a 180 and head back to where you came from. Near the start of this area will be a new Daemon, Wil. Daemon 4/10 - Wil The good thing about Wil, is he starts with a Goliath Axe required for Lost Soul 1 - Longing Boy, so hopefully you loot other axes throughout this dungeon to change. Now proceed onward again. There should be two chests on your way to the elevator, and some other things. Once I reached the elevator, then moved backwards a bit to kill enemies in and out of the Beyond, the game gave me the run down of Shadow Fallen. Shadows will move on the ground in the Living realm, so hit L2 when prompted to go into the Beyond and fight a special fallen for better loot, and a potential trophy if this is when it shows up for you!

Just further south from where you've came from, a Lost Soul will also appear in the Beyond. Lost Soul 7 - Reckless Watcher - Start. He'll turn into a Fallen of some kind, so just defeat it and it'll complete immediately. Lost Soul 7 - Reckless Watcher - End. Now go on ahead with using the Elevator (only available in Living realm). Head to the left a little bit for a save point, then continue on to the right. Proceed like normal with this area, curing your blindness, looting chests, getting as much xp/soul stones as you can in the process. At your dead end you can go through a Portal to proceed up in the Beyond realm.

Once you're up here, use your save point and make sure you use Soul Stones to acquire passive skills and such for your Daemons that you actively use.

Now for a particularly easy boss fight. I personally used Aisha for this, and had the boss down in about 10-15 second with no issues, only using 1 incense. Just go all out with your attacks and don't let up. There's nothing special to say, there's no real strategy, just a regular ol' boss. Once he's defeated, just let the cutscenes and dialogue roll on until you're back innnn..

Szaka - Deto - Main

Now that we're back in town, we have an errand to take care of. From your starting location, head down the stairs, then to your immediate right, Cross the Veil and talk to the boy here. Lost Soul 1 - Longing Boy - End. It was around the time that I turned in this quest, that I also earned another trophy. This trophy is random and can pop anywhere. It says 'battle cries' but refers to Linne just saying catchphrases/things as a whole when she's accompanying you in battle, or in the Beyond realm in town.

Head on over to your objective for more dialogue and cutscenes. Once done, the game will introduce you to the Alchemist, who you might have seen on your travels around town. He is also shown by a new icon on the map. Just head left as you leave the upper grounds. Here's a rundown of things he can do to help our travels and get trophies.

First off, let's Transmute. Transmuting is random and will give you an option of 3 things per update, which is shown in the top right when talking to him, "Kills to Update: 100". You can only transmute these items once each update. So if nothing in the Transmute section is of interest, just come back after a mission. Now to Transmute.. If you have a weapon to transmute, then go ahead. There's a weight-balancing system. For example, the Axe I want is 360, so I put in enough weapons from any of my daemons to make it to 360 or above. Once done, go ahead and Transmute for a chance at an upgraded/random variation of said item. This is a good way to dim down your inventory and also get potentially stronger gear. Doing this also rewards you with a trophy.

Doing this 10 times will also reward you with another trophy. You can only do 3 per go, so do this inbetween quests outside of the city and you'll have it in no time.

Transmuting will sometimes give you a weapon with 3 circles on it, meaning it'll have 3 Sockets for Shadestones.

So next up is how to equip shadestones. Whether you only equip Shadestones to the weapons you currently use, or any weapons at all. You'll also obtain two cumulative+ trophies in relation to this. If you have a 3-socket weapon, go ahead and fill it up for the following;

The last option is Upgrading Weapons. This works the same way as Transmuting where you use your other weapons as fuel to upgrade the weapon of choice. Go ahead and do this for all Daemons equipped weapons, especially the one you're primarily using, so you are much stronger going forward.

Proceed on with the objectives. Once you've spoken to the Wife in the House, just go into the Living realm and interact with the bookshelf to reveal a new area.

Szaka - Tashir Canal - Main

Continue on with this dungeon like you have with previous ones, with curing your blindness and exploring in both the Living and the Beyond for loot and XP. Once you cure the second patch of blindness, you'll have the ability to go left or right on a path. Whichever way you pick doesn't matter, but if you take the right, take the next left, and if you take the left, take the next right. Here you will meet a Lost Soul. Lost Soul 8 - Guilty Man - Start. He'll want you to end him, and turn into a fallen in which you have to defeat, do this and that's another Lost Soul easily dealt with. Lost Soul 8 - Guilty Man - End. Continue onwards. Once your next phase of Veil Blindness kicks in, take the right rather than going north/upwards for an enemy spawner, which is also taking your Veil sight. Take this out and all enemies to then continue exploring in both the Beyond and Living. Going north/upward now will give you another Save Point in this area, so make sure to Save if you haven't in a while, as there's quite a tough boss up ahead..

After some short dialogue and scenes, it's time for the hardest boss yet, in my opinion. Both hard and annoying.

This boss is the definition of spam. It can paralyze you with pretty much all of its attacks, and even spawns minions who also have attacks that paralyze you. There's no real good strategy to this, besides keeping yourself on the move. What I did, was put myself into the Beyond by Crossing the Veil as you do more damage in there, then just unload all equipped skills on the boss to take its health down asap. You can kill the minions, but the more you kill, the more that're spawned, and the boss itself will heal, so you'll want to focus on the boss if possible. Area of Effect skills are great as they damage the minions and the boss, making it easier for you, at least. Make sure to use your heals as this boss can stunlock you very easy. Also don't forget to Manifest so your defense doesn't go down, and so you do increased basic damage and skill damage. I ended this fight with 200 HP and 0/6 Healing Incense, so this is a tough one. If you're having too much trouble, and didn't kill enemies before this fight, just reload your save to go back and get your manifest % all the way up for an immediate burst of damage at the beginning of this boss.

Once done with the boss, head into the door just north of the fight arena and sit back for some lengthy, but veeery important cutscenes, leading you up to a trophy.

Szaka - Deto - Optional

The game will want you to go to the Sook Fens again, but instead of doing that, let's head back to Szaka - Deto, Waypoint #2. Go left and speak to the Alchemist. Go through the typical stuff, transmuting the 3 new items, plopping shadestones into newly acquired weapons, and upgrading whatever new weapons you own.

Now, onto the story objective we go!

Kiro Marsh - The Sook Fens - Main

Once in The Sook Fens, just head on over to the objective for some very important cutscenes, which'll also give you Daemon 5/10 - Izana. Also giving you the following;

Now, onto a boss fight with the man himself. The Night Devil.

The Night Devil is quite an annoying boss, especially if you come in with no Healing Incense like I did, but that's fine, there's a VERY easy tactic to beating him. He'll use the same basic moves as Aisha has, like Gale Slash. The key to this boss is always use a skill on him after he uses a skill on you. If you spam skills/attacks randomly, he can be damaged by them, but not phased, so he'll attack you regardless as his moves won't be cancelled by yours. So, wait until he makes a move, then perform a skill on him when he spends a brief second before using his next. For example, he'll perform a jump move and slam the ground. Dodge out of the way, then as he lands the move on the floor, quickly unleash a skill on him as he'll momentarily do nothing. Always attacking him RIGHT AFTER he performs a skill should work out perfectly and with ease.

Now that that's out of the way, and the dialogue after it, let's head onto our next/new location.

The Mazzen Mountains - Mt. Teora - Main

Shortly up this mountain will be your first Veil Blindness enemy, take it out, and immediately next to where it was in the Beyond is another Daemon, so go ahead and grab that. Daemon 6/10 - Zephyr. Now continue on again. After the short dialogue/interaction with the dad and his two kids, go left instead of north. You'll immediately meet with a Lost Soul, Lost Soul 9 - Lost Disciple - Start. She'll turn into a Fallen, so just take her out to complete yet another quick one. Lost Soul 9 - Lost Disciple - End. Going both North and South from this Lost Soul lead to dead ends, but dead ends we'll visit later. Feel free to go both ways to take out Fallen in the Living and Beyond for XP and Stones, etcetc. Now to head back to the house with the family and go north from it like we're meant to.

Continue with all of your objectives for some back and forth chatting, until you're met with a boss in the top left corner of the map. This boss is extremely easy. Stay on its back and unleash all your attacks and skills. Even when he's charging up his fire-breath and exposes his crystal-stomach weakspot, you can attack him closely from behind to do weak-spot/critical hits, making this boss a joke.

Now to go south to the other location we've yet to enter. In here, you'll encounter the final boss of this area after some more cutscenes.

Not too much to say about this boss. Basically the same concept as the previous one where you want to stay behind him, unload on him with skills. He does a lot of sweeping attacks and moving around, but he's extremely basic and hardly a threat at all. Now, head on over to the nearest waypoint and let's get out of here after some more dialogue.

Szaka - Deto - Main

Spawn yourself at Save Point #1 to trigger the objective, and to spawn near a lost soul. When going up the first set of stairs, you'll see her on your left side in the Beyond realm. Lost Soul 2 - Unfortunate Woman - Start. She'll want us to visit Raom Meadows, but we'll do that later when we're not so busy, so let's proceed north to the objective.

After some more dialogue with the two Watchers, head north a little to Save Point #2 for another Lost Soul. Lost Soul 3 - Kujo - Start. She'll want to meet us in the Sook Fens, first, but we'll save that for later, just like the other one. Now, let's go back to the world map for a new location to visit, as the Alchemist is indisposed of for now.

Ehir Palace - Main

Not much to do in the first area of this location. Proceed north and through the door into the palace. Upon entering you'll see a green light on the left side of your map. This is actually on the second floor, so go up the stairs and to the left to get the Daemon. Daemon 7/10 - Lucika. After going through with the objective and some additional dialogues, let's head back to a waypoint and fast travel to our next location, though do feel free to upgrade your daemons and such before heading out to this new area.

Szaka - Deto - Optional

Now that the alchemist is back, let's go visit him to transmute some more objects, equip more shadestones and upgrade weapons if needed. Simple stuff, now back to our story.

Dacaray Mines - Shadestone Quarry - Main

Same routine as per usual. Jut beyond the first Sight Stealer, when you make a U-turn on the map, you should see a green dot on your map, for your next Daemon. It'll be on your direct path to the objective so no worries. Daemon 8/10 - Treize. This will award you with the following trophy, also the last trophy related to bounding Daemons, but there's one for manifesting with every Daemon, so I'll continue to list. -

The area with the second Sight Stealer and enemy spawner, there'll be a portal just south of this open area in the Beyond. Use this to traverse the cavern. Just shortly up the winding path beyond this portal is another Lost Soul, who wants you to take her to the ground floor of the palace, which we'll go to later. Lost Soul 11 - Fellow Watcher - Start. Make sure you save your game before moving on, as there's an upcoming boss.

This boss is like any other before it, where you should stay behind him and rain hell from there. Even more so for this boss, as he has some absolutely devastating attacks from the front, in forms of giant lazers and big swoops, and they'll destroy you. So definitely stay behind him for the majority of this fight. He'll spawn little star-fish looking enemies that also throw lazers around. They have too much health and bounce around too much to be much of a threat, so don't waste your time on them. Just continue to kill the boss.

Continuing on with your objective will lead you to a whole bunch of cutscenes and dialogue, leading us to our next location.

Ehir Palace - Main

After some more back and forth scenes and a disturbing fight, you'll be tasked with going after Leos mother, the Lady of the Realm. Go behind the throne and descend into the next area, so go ahead, but once you arrive, let's head back to Szaka - Deto for the Alchemist.

Szaka - Deto - Optional

Transmuting a new item from the Alchemist will finally give you the following trophy;

Do whatever else you need to do, then let's head back.

Ehir Palace - Underhall - Main

Proceed on in this dungeon like you have done with others. Fill out the map in both the Living and Beyond realms for as much XP and Soulstones as you could possibly get. There's not a lot of importance to note in this dungeon besides the usual. Chests in the Beyond, enemies around corners you don't need to go, but should for the extra XP/Awakenings/Soulstones etcetc.

The boss fight with Kushi in this area is probably the hardest so far in the game, due to the sheer amount of damage that Kushi can inflict, especially if you're low on Healing Incense. He'll do the same movesets more or less as you and the previous Night Devil fight. Use Manifesting to your advantage to do massive amounts of damage with your skills. Try and stay behind him/to his side as he has some powerful sweep attacks with his sword, as well as jump/slams.

After the fight and some dialogue, you'll automatically receive another Daemon. Daemon 9/10 - Gavod. Now let all the following scenes of story play on.

Szaka - Deto - Main

Before we head north for our objective, go on over to the alchemist for any upgrading/shadestone socketing you're able to do. Choose to Remove the Chain on the dog, instead of killing it (why would we possibly do such a thing). Now back to the Palace we go.. Once again.

Ehir Palace - Main

Easy peasy, proceed on up to the throne room and let the cutscenes play out! The cutscenes will also give you a trophy;

Before fast travelling out of the palace, let's head down to the ground floor, so just use the elevator to go down. Once down here, go into the beyond, and then go into the bottom left corner at the very bottom of the stairs, run around this little bit to trigger a small scene. Lost Soul 11 - Fellow Watcher - End. Now, to the world map we go to take care of some errands before progressing too far. First up, Raom Meadows.

Taddan Plains - Raom Meadows - Optional

For the Lost Soul quest in this area, you could spawn on Waypoint #3 and proceed right to the house, but I spawned on Waypoint #1 and worked my way all the way up, killing everything in the Living and Beyond for Awakening chances and more Stones. So, just reach the house however you please for the following. Lost Soul 2 - Unfortunate Woman - End. Now onto the Sook Fens we go.

Kiro Marsh - The Sook Fens - Optional

The trigger to end this next side quest is just north of the first waypoint/entrance. So whether you spawn there, or the opposite end, you'll complete this Lost Soul once you get here. Lost Soul 3 - Kujo - End. I personally went ahead and emptied this entire map of enemies anyway, for more awakening chances.

Szaka - Deto - Optional

Head to the northern part of Szaka Deto, and you'll find your next Lost Soul. Lost Soul 4 - Regretful Woman - Start. She'll simply want to visit Lake Lud - Kiho Shores, so let's go right there, assuming you can't do anymore socketing right now.

Lake Lud - Kiho Shores - Optional

This Lost Soul will want to visit the door at Waypoint #3, but go ahead and spawn at Waypoint #1 just so you can clear the area of enemies for Stones/Awakenings/XP, as per usual. Lost Soul 4 - Regretful Woman - End. Now, onto the main quest we go!

The Grewan Deepwood - Ophay Forest - Main

Like any other dungeon, just proceed like you have been. Clearing ALL enemies in the Living and the Beyond. There's not a lot to go into detail on this dungeon, as it's very linear and mostly here for story-discoveries. The boss itself is a boss you've fought before, just a much stronger variation. He'll spin blades in front of him, stun locking you. Charge around. Create pesky tornadoes, and do other moves that'll also open up his back/wings. This being his weakspot so use Skills for massive damage. Make use of combining your manifestation and skills on his weak spot for massive damage.

Once you beat this boss, you're able to enter the next area, your destination. Instead of talking to the man immediately, let's go ahead and Cross the Veil. The cure for the blindness is to the left of him. Once grabbed, go to the right of him and you'll see not only a Waypoint but a Daemon beside this Waypoint, too. Interact with the Daemon for Daemon 10/10 - Rigan. Now you've got your tenth and final Daemon, you can manifest with them all for the following trophy;

Once you speak to the man, head to the very right, just beyond where the Daemon was for a small scene. Then head back to the middle area where the man was. Here, you'll be against yet another boss.

Use your strongest Daemon for this fight, as it's a huge pain. Not only is it the boss, but there's a good 10 or so enemies accompanying it. Take them out first, so you can fully focus on the boss. Very basic move set, he'll roll around, slam the ground, and stomp about. Very avoidable once the other enemies are down as everyone, including the smaller enemies are hard hitters.

Once done, head north and proceed with your objectives. Once in the next area, switch back to the Living realm, even though it wanted you to be in the Beyond when crossing.

The Grewan Deepwood - The Eternal Garden - Main

Once you get to the first point where you can go up or right, go right to take out the two sight thieves so you can navigate the Beyond for more XP/the objective. Now just continue on like normal.

IMPORTANT NOTE: ONCE YOU REACH THE END OF THIS PARTICULAR DUNGEON, YOU'LL REACH AN OPTION OF 2 THINGS, BUT CAN DO THEM AGAIN AT THE END OF THE GAME.

Once you finally reach your end of this dungeon, you're met with a very familiar boss, the Night Devil himself... Again..

You've fought this boss a dozen times, so you already know how he plays, just take into account he hits EXTRA hard this time 'round.

Here comes the important part: After some cutscenes, you're met with a first-person view of your chest. You will get two choices here in terms of a trophy you can earn. You'll see a small butterfly icon at the bottom of your screen. Press X while the Butterfly is still present 3 times for the following;

For its counterpart, you have to wait until the butterfly disappears, to then press X and proceed with it, each of the 3 times. Make sure the butterfly is gone, for the following;

You can reload your save before the fight for either of these or alternatively get them at the very end of the game, so no worries!

Once you get through some extra cutscenes, dialogue, and eventually make it to your first new save point, let's fast travel back to Szaka - Deto.

Szaka - Deto - Optional

Go ahead and visit the Alchemist for socketing shadestones into weapons, and upgrading new ones for your Daemons, and transmuting for more shadestone sockets etc.

Once done with the Alchemist, head up to where Waypoint #3 is, but into the left path that leads you to Tashir Canal. One your way down this alley-way, you'll see a Lost Soul Dog, so Cross the Veil and talk to him. Lost Soul 15 - Insistent Dog - Start. Now, to the right of Waypoint #2 is yet another Lost Soul, a Watcher. Lost Soul 13 - Perished Watcher - Start. Head south to the direction of Waypoint #1 take a right to find another Lost Soul at the end. Lost Soul 14 - Scent-Obsessed Man - Start. Head back up to the stall-area where Waypoint #2 is, but go to the right bottom corner where you'll see a man sitting behind some stalls. This will be the end of your first-quick Lost Soul here. Lost Soul 15 - Insistent Dog - End. The second is to go up where you found the dog, by the entry to Tashir Canal. Go into Tashir Canal and move right a little bit to trigger a scene. Lost Soul 14 - Scent-Obsessed Man - End. Now that we've cleared these quicker ones up, let's continue on with the story.

The Mazzen Mountains - The Mesid Wood - Main

After some small fights, you're met with a long scene in a house. Once this scene is over, the enemies you previously killed have all respawned, so just slaughter them again for even more XP/Stones. After venturing through the entire of this area in the Living, as you cannot cure the blindness for the Beyond yet, you'll be met with a lot of dialogue, cutscenes, and exposition. After all of which, you're given the following;

Once you're out of the scene with Kushi, proceed to the right a little for the sight stealer. Cure your veil blindness and proceed left, making your way up and around to Waypoint #5, the circular area just before it has a Sight Stealer. Deal with him then head back towards Waypoint #4 and the right-side of the circular/two-way path. for a Lost Soul. Lost Soul 21 - Fleeing Man - Start. Now, feel free to fill out this map in the Beyond so you can get additional XP and Stones from enemies. Now, onto our objective.

The Grewan Deepwood - The Eternal Garden - Main

Choose to spawn at Waypoint #1 for more XP/Stones as you progress all the way to the objective. Once you come to the split, go right to kill the Sight Stealers like last time, as just before this turn there is a Lost Soul we can speak to. Go speak with him for another side quest. Lost Soul 23 - Heedless Man - Start. He'll want to go to Deto, but so does Fleeing Man, so we'll do those together at another time. Proceed north for now.

Once you're done with all the cutscenes and dialogue at the end here, you need to proceed to Ehir Palace - Minob Plaza, but we have two quests for Szaka - Deto, so let's go there, and also visit the good ol' alchemist for more socketing.

Szaka - Deto - Optional

Spawn at Waypoint #1, then proceed just a little bit north to end the first Lost Soul quest here. Lost Soul 21 - Fleeing Man - End. Now for the next, head on up to the very top, and go down the right path you're able to take, towards a well. This'll complete the next quest. Lost Soul 23 - Heedless Man - End. Visit the Alchemist for any needs/wants you may have, now to head back to the world map.

Ehir Palace - Minob Plaza - Main

Very simple. Interact with the night-devil shadowy-figure to turn into the child, then walk up a little for some dialogue/scenes. Then back to the world map for our next destination.

The Grewan Deepwood - Kiraq - Main

Once you spawn into the Waypoint here, and move even slightly to the right to finish a Lost Soul, easy peasy! Lost Soul 13 - Perished Watcher - End. Now proceed a little further to your right in the Beyond for another Lost Soul who is here. Lost Soul 24 - Magic Scholar - Start. To complete this quest, you need to have the Daemon Treize. CTRL F 'Daemon 8/10 - Treize' on this page to find the location if you missed him. You don't need him assigned in your party, just... In general. Re-talk to her to complete this quest. Lost Soul 24 - Magic Scholar - End. Now for the main quest!

Now switch to the Living, talk to the Shadow to turn into a child again, then proceed to the left and up north to come across a ginger-like boy, and some scenes/dialogue. After a bunch of exchanges in the pit, going to the south side of it, talking to the child, stabbing the Fallen, and more dialogue, you'll be lead back to the open area before the town.

This time round, a new path has opened up. Just a bit more left beyond the Sight Stealer is a little kid facing you before you go south. Talk to her in the Beyond as you can now see. She's yet another Soul that wants to visit Deto. Lost Soul 26 - Precocious Girl - Start. Once you're at your objective and go through some additional scenes, we've gotta head back to Szaka - Deto, but all the enemies in this map have respawned, so I personally went though the entire map in the Living and Beyond to get as much XP/Stones as possible.

Szaka - Deto - Main

It doesn't matter which Waypoint you spawn at, as it'll force you onto Waypoint #1/the very entrance of Szaka - Deto. Once done with the tiny dialogue here, let's run all the way up to the final steps before Waypoint #3, then slightly to the left for a woman sitting on a bench infront of a window, this'll complete Lost Soul 26 - Precocious Girl - End.

Now just proceed on with the objective in this map before moving onto the next main quest location, assuming you have no need to use the Alchemist right now.

Dacaray Mine - Shadestone Quarry - Main

In this mine, there's a new area to explore. Go into this area and you'll discover Waypoint #4. Go beyond it a little bit to find a Sight Stealer, kill it and return to the Waypoint to speak to the Lost Soul now that you can Cross the Veil safely. Lost Soul 27 - Confident Alchemist - Start. This Lost Soul will want a weapon with 200+ attack, which will take us a while to do as most weapons at this point are only 100+, so let's not worry about him for now.

After finally reaching the destination and seeing some small scenes, you'll /once again/ be in Szaka - Deto.

Szaka - Deto - Main

Very simple visit to Deto, as per usual. Talk to the shadow, deal with the cutscenes, really basic stuff. Now onto our next objective. Isn't this a fun portion of the game?

The Mazzen Mountains - Mt. Teora - Main

Just like every other area so far, there's a new route to go, so proceed with it like you have countless other dungeons so far. Just after the Sight Stealer in this location is a Lost Soul, who also wants to see a strong weapon, but with 150+ attack. Lost Soul 28 - Enlightened Man - Start. We'll deal with him later on, too.

Proceed on with this area, and be careful with your Incense as the enemies in this area are quite difficult compared to others. Follow the scenes and objectives until you're eventually returned to Szaka - Deto again for a quick scene, before going over to the Sook Fens.

Kiro Marsh - The Sook Fens - Main

Spawn at Waypoint #1, and take the first left to kill the Sight Stealer. Now you can proceed into the new area to the right and get extra kills in the Beyond as it's not entirely blind. After the longer bridge-like path just after Waypoint #4, where the Sight Stealers for this portion are, is a Lost Soul. This Lost Soul wants a weapon from the Daemon Zaev with 100+ attack, so if you don't have one on you, we'll worry about it later. Lost Soul 29 - Warrior-in-Training - Start.

Now just continue on to your objective, nothing else of significance to list here. Once you arrive, deal with the cutscenes and dialogue for the following trophy;

Now let's head on over to Szaka - Deto, once again.

Szaka - Deto - Main

Spawn at Waypoint #2 and visit the Alchemist for any needs, before proceeding up to Waypoint #3, because up here and to the right is a new location we can enter. Remove the grate and enter for a new dungeon.

Szaka - Palace - Hidden Passage - Main

Take this dungeon on like any others. Clearing out enemies in the Living and the Beyond. There's a new type of enemy-variation here. The fatter enemies with the stomach that opens up and eats you, making you muddled for a short period. They can also summon other giant enemies out of their stomach, now. A pain, but also a blessing as that's more enemies to use skills etc on. There's also another kind that likes to teleport and make crazy whirlwind moves for a ton of damage. Do not let them get near, as they HURT.

Once you hit Waypoint #2, directly above it is not only a Sight Stealer, but a Lost Soul in the same room. She wants to see a field of flowers that Sara loved, which will be the Eternal Garden, so we'll worry about that later. Lost Soul 30 - Devoted Woman - Start. Now make your way to the end of this dungeon to find a Waypoint and a Ladder. This will put you in the familiar territory of the Palace, so make your way to the top/throne room.

Met with some lengthy dialogue and exposition in the throne room, you're given another story-related trophy;

Head to the waypoint just outside of the Throne Room so we can head to our next destination in the story.

Aon Gorge - Nataya Valley - Main

The enemies in this area are extremely difficult and hit hard, compared to others so far. They're enemies you've encountered before, but very strong. You will level up a ton in this dungeon, though. So use healing incense in good doses and be patient with it. Once you reach the second Sight Stealer, the enemy spawner. There'll be a Lost Soul just north of it, on your path towards your objective. He wants to visit his home in the Mesid Woods, which we'll do later. Lost Soul 31 - Frivolous Man - Start.

Up next is the boss of this area, the Great Chariot. The strategy to this boss is to stay to the very middle of his body. If you're on either the left or the right of him, the laser automatically targets, stun-locks and destroy your HP, otherwise, they just shoot in the straight line. These lasers have HP, but don't waste time focusing on them individually, as they'll get an instant full-heal from the boss. The boss has two saw-blade hands on his front, that shoot out like a drill, or hit the floor. I found if you stay DIRECTLY in the middle of them, none of their attacks can damage you. He'll occasionally charge forward, too. I found if you activate a skill during this, the animation will give you invincibility frames, unlike other bosses, meaning you won't be hurt. VERY easy boss, just a ton of HP depending on the Daemon of choice. I personally used Dia who did little damage, but it was a breeze otherwise.

Upon defeating the boss, I obtained my first Epic Weapon, in which they'll soon become common from here on out, so you may have received this trophy, too.

Once you're in the new area, go ahead and save at the waypoint, then let's fast travel out and do some errands to level us up a bit, as this next area is tough, and beyond it, too.

The Grewan Deepwood - The Eternal Garden - Optional

Go ahead and spawn at waypoint #1 as per usual, to work your way up to waypoint #3, which is our destination. Once you finally reach the top/end of the area, the Lost Soul quest will automatically complete. Lost Soul 30 - Devoted Woman - End.

The Mazzen Mountains - The Mesid Woods - Optional

Once again, spawn at Waypoint #1. Our destination is literally around this first bend/corner, when you reach the house. Lost Soul 31 - Frivolous Man - End.

Once finished here, feel free to go onto Szaka - Deto for any Alchemist needs. Other than that, let's head back to the story.

Aon Gorge - The First Pillar - Main

Nothing much to note in the first half of this dungeon, do the same as usual. At the end of the first floor, you'll reach a puzzle with a pillar on the left, in the middle, and on the right. You need to get the lights facing the door to open it. Here's how I did it, though there may be various other ways to do it.

Middle -> Right -> Middle -> Left -> Middle -> Middle -> Right.

Making your way to the end of the next level will bring you to another one of these puzzles, so do the following.

Left -> Left -> Right. - Any variation works, as long as it's left twice, and right once.

Beyond Waypoint #2 on the Third Level, there'll be a Sight Stealer to the right-side, then a portal to the left-side in the Beyond that'll take you to the other side.

Once reaching the puzzle at the end of the Third Level, go ahead with the following.

Right -> Left -> Left.

After some cutscenes at this final part, you'll be rewarded with the following;

Now onto a new area after some lengthy scenes.

Oppe Wilds - Main

This next set of areas/maps can be VERY confusing, so let's just take it simply. A little into this new area will be a house you can enter, by a waypoint. Enter it and talk to the man, to then find out you're in another area upon leaving. Once in this next new area, go ahead and explore the entire map to fill it out before going to your objective. This area is huge, and full of enemies to kill. Once you reach your objective of the village, you'll get a small scene requiring you to go back to where you just came from, so let's go back that way.

Head on up to Waypoint #4 of Anankha Wilds, and sit back for a bunch of scenes.

Once done, head to the next destination, the northern exit of the village.

Badada Wilds - Main

Once you get to Waypoint #3 in this area, or even Waypoint #2, make sure to save as an annoying boss is up next. This boss has some very weak, easily avoidable attacks, except for the missile spam unfortunately. They're easy to dodge or block with the right Daemon, or by surviving through with Incense. Once the missile head/piece is out, it's easy, slow pickings from then out. I personally used Dia on Normal Difficulty and only restarted the fight once.

After this and all of its following scenes, you're back in the Oppe Wilds again, the very beginning of this whole ordeal.

Oppe Wilds - Main

The end part of the area, and the bit that comes after is by far the most stressful in the entire game.

The boss here is a pain, as are his subordinates, but they stay dead so focus on them. The boss itself is slow and predictable, but hard hitting. He'll walk on all fours which allows him to shoot out a spike from his head, jump on you, stun-lock you while whacking his arms left and right. He'll also stand up, stomping around, etc. The boss itself isn't too difficult, but what comes next is.

After some cutscenes, you're forced to fight him again. With the same HP and same Incense you had left over from the previous fight. So if you're unlucky like me, you have almost no HP left, and 0 incense.

My highest recommendation, is if you're playing on Normal or Hard, revert to your last save and change to easy difficulty, otherwise you will have to use pure skill and knowledge of your Daemon to take out this boss. I have been using Dia for levelling up, but changed to Aisha for her dodge, her attack power and just how fluent I am with her moves. With Dia, I was doing 400-500 damage an attack, as she's a low-hitting long range Daemon. As for Aisha, I was doing a good 4k-8k damage per attack, so definitely scrap whoever you're levelling up for this fight, or even both of these fights. Heck, even with Aisha, I still got killed 7-8 times before finally pulling this off. Be patient, be calm, be strong. You should have this. If not, revert to old save, play on easy, keep retrying until you have incense left for the second phase, etcetera. Good luck!

Once you're finally done with this boss, let's head to a Waypoitn so we can Fast Travel to Szaka Deto.

Szaka - Deto - Main

Head on up to the middle for a small scene. It doesn't matter which answer you pick. Make sure to pay a visit to the Alchemist for any of his needs. Once you're ready, let's head on up to the palace by going northwards, once you're in Minob Plaza, there's a lost soul here to the right of the stairs. Lost Soul 32 - Overzealous Woman - Start. She wants to meet Leo, so let's just head back down to deto, where the execution was taking place and speak to him. He's beside Waypoint #2. Lost Soul 32 - Overzealous Woman - End. Now, back up to Minob Plaza we go! Once you enter the portal, you'll be in the new dungeon.

Shadow Hall - Snow - Main

The first part of this dungeon is easy pickings. 3 waypoints, 2 sets of sightstealers, only 1 chest with a shadestone in it that I could find. Portal at the end leads to the next part of these series of Dungeons.

Shadow Hall - Moon - Main

The first room with two ways to go, the Sight Stealer will be north, in a dead-end room. Once you get to the end/dead-end room mid-way through this floor, on the left center of this map. There's a portal in the top right of the room to lead you out of this dead-end. The Sight Stealer for this next portion will be all the way to the immediate right, alongside Waypoint #2. In the room you start in with the portal, go to the right through the two hallways, and there's a portal in the top right corner of this next both box/on the second half of this room.

Shadow Hall - Flower - Main

Not much to say about this area, it's a lot tougher than the previous ones so far, so be slow, be careful, take advantage of all the enemies and their sheer numbers for Soul Stones.

Top Floor/Throne Room - Main - Final Boss Battle

Once you're in the Throne Room, you're met with a choice, and many more choices depending on which to 1) Defend the cycle of reincarnation. 2) Reject the realm and slay the Oni.

Choosing option 1) will give you the following after a small cutscene and the credits;

Choosing option 2) will task you with two boss fights, which will lead you onto the next series of choices for the multiple ending trophies.

After the final oni boss fight, you're given a choice to Kill yourself, or Live. Choosing to Kill Yourself will bring you to a familiar scene, that can give you either of these trophies.

For Unshakeable Will, you will need to press X immediately each time. The window for this is large, so no worries.

For Plagued by Doubt, you need to wait a good bit in between each press. I waited 10 seconds before pressing X to proceed onto the next one.

If you choose to Kill Yourself, you'll be given this trophy after some cutscenes and the credits;

If you choose to Live, you'll be given this trophy after some cutscenes and the credits;

If, at the end of this, you're missing one of the other, specifically the choices of reincarnation or rejecting, you can reload the clear save file you made, which allows you to go back to the throne room for the final fight, to then perform whichever choice you've not done.

Beyond this, the main game is done. So it's a mop up of leftovers, and the post-game content. So let's take that to another page!
