This year
NBA 2K19: The Prelude is really short & pretty easy overall, but that's understandable because it is merely a preview. The story seems to be greatly improved from 2K18.
This time the story itself has more layers and depth. In the very beginning, you create your MyPLAYER, and it’s pretty neat how it works. Your player, who goes by the name “A.I.” in this year’s game and your career begins in the Chinese Basketball Association and you're going to need your translator.
A.I. a nod to the great Allen Iverson.
You'll start out as a basketball player looking to prove themselves in the Chinese Basketball League, in order to fulfil their dreams of playing in the NBA. Building a reputation in China while honing your balling skills, you'll move back to the States to play in the G League. Put in the hard work, and you'll earn yourself a spot on an NBA roster. This is the story!
There’s a cool feature this year in NBA 2K19 called Takeover which works kind of as a Gamebreaker. When your Takeover meter is filled, it will boost your attributes dramatically, and this can be especially dangerous if you’re a sharpshooter, draining threes.
It works like the Microwave badge from a few years ago, which you can earn by consistently filling up your Takeover gauge.
NBA 2K19 animations for running, shooting, passing and more all feel smoother and more realistic!
While this was just a sneak peek, this could be one of the more fulfilling MyCareer journeys in NBA 2K history.
