3. Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition (PS3) Story walkthroughUpdate notes

So, let's begin.

When you create a world make sure you select Survival and at least Easy difficulty. Do not select host privileges as this and creative mode disable trophies. Ideally you will want to do this in tutorial because you will get a lot of items that will cut a lot of time.

First thing you will do is hit Triangle to open your inventory, unlocking:

Next up find a tree, hold R2 to smash it open to grab the next one:

Break open a few trees until you have around 10-12 blocks of wood, then we can work on the crafting stuff.

Hit Square to open the crafting menu, now turn your 10-12 blocks into 40-48 wood planks, then make around 10 sticks.
Now time to build a crafting table from the menu to unlock:

Open the crafting table with L2 and go to the weapons tab, now craft a wooden pickaxe, spade, axe, sword and a hoe to grab the following:

  • MOAR Tools

Construct one type of each tool (one pickaxe, one spade, one axe and one hoe).

    MOAR Tools

Now take your pickaxe and find some stone to mine. Once you have a decent amount open up your crafting table again and make a furnace and a stone pickaxe to unlock:

You will likely have seen a cow by now, kill it with your sword for:
Now time to start mining for ores (or find a cave).

Down in the pits keep your eye out for Iron Ore. This looks like the regular stone walls underground but with some Ornagey/ Brown spots on them. Once you have some, stick it in your furnace with some coal to unlock:

Ideally you will want 3 Iron to make a pickaxe so that you can mine Diamonds. The best way to find diamonds is to look at your map and check the Y coordinate, Diamonds are usually found on Y level 15 and below. How I usually do it is mine downwards towards Y level 10 (not straight down though, never mine straight down!), ideally you will want to mine downwards at an angle so you are creating a stairwell at the same time. Once at layer 10 it is time to start making tunnels, just keep going straight forward and you will find diamonds at some point. If not, create a new tunnel and start again, you might find zero in your first tunnel or you may find 20, it is all random. It is important that you don't let your mind wander though as you may just mine stright through into a lava pool so you will want to be alert enough to move back and block the holes back up!

Find a diamond to unlock:

By now it will likely be night time or you will have come across a monster underground. Any mob creature will do the job. Kill it for:

Get some cobblestone, redstone and a bow (you may have gotten one dropped by a skelton, if not sticks and string will make it, if you get stuck just open up the crafting bench to find the recipe) and make a Dispenser for:

Now we will have a little break from Minecrafting and have a nice meal. For starters, some bread. Assuming you have done this in the tutorial as suggested, you will come across some chests with the ingredients needed for below and a chest full of fishing rods.

Take 3 pieces of Wheat from a chest or raid a villagers farm, then open up the crafting table and go to the food tab and select bread to unlock:

Now, onto the main course. You can get a fishing rod from one of the chests in the tutorial world. To use it, go to the ocean and hit L2. Keep your eye on the water where your line is and pay attention to the bobbing it makes. Once it gets pulled down hit L2. Sometimes you won't get a fish but 9 times out of 10 when this happens you will catch a fish. Next just take it to a furnace to cook it and voila one tasty fish an one tasty trophy:

Now time for some dessert. To make a cake you will need 2 pieces of sugar cane, 3 buckets of milk, 3 pieces of wheat and an egg. Sugar Cane can be found scattered around the map near water. Eggs are dropped from chickens every 5 minutes, so just follow a chicken around until it drops one. You could make a little enclosed area and lure some chickens in with seeds and just keep checking in every so often. For the milk, get 3 buckets (3 iron Ingots each) and find a cow, milk it using L2 then all that is left is the wheat, which if you have done the bread then you know already how to get that.

Once you have all the ingredients open up the crafting table, head over to the food tab and select Cake to unlock:

  • The Lie

Bake a cake using wheat, sugar, milk and eggs!

    The Lie

Now that we have had a nice meal it is time to continue. In the tutorial you will see a room with a brewing stand and ingredients for making a potion. It is recommended you make a Fire Resistance potion using Magma Cream for when you are in the Nether. If there is not any Magma Cream you can collect this in the Nether by killing Magma Cubes. If you are doing this outside of tutorial you can make a brewing stand using 3 pieces of cobblestone and a Blaze Rod which are dropped by Blazes (there is a trophy related to this so you will need to obtain a Blaze Rod anyway):

Next, to the animal pen, where there will be a chest containing some bones. Save your game here. Now tame the nearby wolves, exit without saving, reload save and tame again. Exit again, reload, rinse repeat until you unlock the trophy. You will know if you have tamed the wolf when love hearts appear and a collar appear around the wolfs neck:

Once you have some Diamonds, make a Diamond Pickaxe and go find some obsidian, you will need 16-20 pieces. You can make obsidian by mixing water and lava source blocks. There are bookcases in the tutorial, break one and grab the books it drops. Now it is time to build an Enchantment Table using 4 pieces of Obsidian, 2 Diamonds and 1 Book:

Now take the remaining pieces of Obsidian and arrange them in one of the following ways

Once you have done that light the portal with a Flint and Steel, which can be crafted with 1 piece of Iron and 1 piece of Gravel.

Now go into the Nether Portal and use your Fire Resistance potion, you are now immune to fire and lava for a while. Look around for a Ghast and hit R2 with your sword when it is shooting fireballs at you until you kill one with its own fireball. After that find a Blaze Spawner, these are found in a Nether Fortress. Keep slaying them until one drops a Blaze Rod and you will unlock these 2 trophies and can leave the Nether

Now for the fun parts. Grab a bow, preferably enchanted with Infinity, otherwise you will need to stock up on Arrows. Mine a long straight tunnel about 60 blocks long, 2-3 wide and 3-4 high so that you have some confined open space. Next, wait until night and lure a skeleton into your tunnel and block him in at one end but still keep him in view. Then, quickly run to the other end and save immediately in case something goes wrong or he despawns. Fire freely aiming high until you take him out, this may take a while depending on your aim, should go down within 2-3 hits. Once complete you will earn:

  • Sniper Duel

Kill a skeleton with an arrow from more than 50 meters.

    Sniper Duel
Online/Offline - These trophies can be obtained in either an online or offline mode.Single Player - These trophies can be obtained by a single player.Cooperative - These trophies can be obtained by two or more players in a cooperative game mode who have met the trophy requirements.Difficulty Specific - These trophies require that the game be played on a certain difficulty level.

Time to go back into the caves and mine lots of Gold and Iron. Keep an eye out for a dungeon while doing this so you can get a saddle too and also for an abandoned mineshaft so you can get a lot of free rails. Once you have a large supply of ores make some rails, you will need a lot. Start your rail at the edge of the map and just mine a straight line forward until you have enough of a flat straight to place a little over 500 rails. You will need to place some powered rails every 10-15 blocks with a redstone torch next to them to keep momentum going. Grab a minecart and ride it for:
  • On A Rail

Travel by minecart to a point at least 500m in a single direction from where you started.

    On A Rail

If you didn't find a saddle while spelunking, go do that now. Once you have one get a carrot and a fishing rod to make a carrot on a stick. Stick the saddle on a pig and use your carrot on a stick to make it fall of a cliff or self made platform so it takes damage, netting you:
  • When Pigs Fly

Use a saddle to ride a pig, then have the pig get hurt from fall damage while riding it.

    When Pigs Fly

Now we are at The End. You are going to want to take down some Endermen until you have
12 Ender Pearls. Mix them with some Blaze Powder (made from Blaze Rods) until you have 12 Eyes of Ender. Save here. Use L2 with the Eyes and follow them until they lead you to the location of an End Portal. Take note of its location and reload your save to save the eyes, as Ender Pearls can be a pain to get. Now, go back to the End Portal and insert the Eyes into the portal. Make sure you are prepared before you enter, earning:

All that stands in your way now is the Enderdragon. This is quite an easy fight if you know what you are doing. I wrote a guide for this on the site:

The Enderdragon is the game's end boss (well, the only boss until the Wither arrives) and he/she is quite easy, but it can be a pain if you don't know what you are doing.

Start by entering an End Portal, I recommend bringing the following items with you: A full set of Diamond Armour (enchanted or unenchanted), Diamond pickaxe, an Enchanted Bow (preferably with Power and Punch, Infinite and Flame would be a plus), 2 stacks of arrows (unless you have infinite enchantment), some potions of Strength and potions of Regeneration, 2 stacks of dirt/cobblestone and some food.

Once in The End, you should see some large Obsidian towers with crystals on top. These must be destroyed before taking on the dragon as they will heal it. They can be destroyed by shooting an arrow at them or building up to them and mining through it. There will also be some of these where the crystals have Iron bars around them, so these will need to be mined through.

Occasionally the dragon will fly by and attack you, sometimes these will barely scratch you and sometimes they can do some serious damage. If it manages to take a large chunk of health off, just dig in to the ground and make a little shelter so you can let your health regenerate. Don't worry about the Endermen, they are pretty harmless here, I have personally never been attacked by them any time I have been here.

Once the healing crystals have been destroyed proceed to the little tower in the center made out of bedrock. From here just keep your eye on the dragon, most of the time it will just fly around the area attempting to use the healing crystals. Once he has finished his rounds it will fly to the center and start spraying ender acid at you. Once it starts spraying just dodge to the side and start firing arrows upon it as quick as you can. It will then stop spraying to turn at you again and start spraying again, just keep moving to the side and firing and you will likely not take a hit.

Once it takes enough damage it will start the cycle again of trying to heal then back to the center. You will need to do this about 4-5 times. Once it has been defeated it will drop an egg on top of the center tower and an exit will appear underneath it. The egg doesn't do anything except teleport a few blocks when you touch it so no point in bothering about that.

The trophy will not pop straight away, you will need to exit The End and the trophy will pop during the "credits", but before you do that, pick up all that sweet xp the dragon drops, this can get you from level 0 to around 70 (20,000 xp if I recall correctly), which is something you really don't want to miss.

Alternatively if you have a friend who has defeated the Enderdragon, you can simply jump into his/her End Portal to access the credits sequence and unlock the trophy:

If you've unlocked everything, you'll find yourself with a new shiny Platinum as well:

Thanks and happy trophy hunting toast
