Extra Ops 033: Claymore Disarmament

Río del Jade

The claymores should be pretty easy to spot, but finding out which side is the front might be the problem for you (if you can't find them easily, try bringing night vision goggles). To figure out which side is the front, you can look to the side of one and you'll see that they curve. The "open" part of the curve is the backside, so come around that side and you'll be able to disarm the claymore. If you don't find them all that fast enough, you can always just replay the mission after you know where they all are.

Bosque del Alba

You start off here with just a banana, which you'll be using as a fake weapon to hold soldiers up. There are three in Bosque del Alba, and none of them move, so sneaking up on them is going to be really easy.

Puerto del Alba

The other four enemies are here, of course, but this time they're walking around. Run into the center of the crates as fast as you can to sneak up on a soldier whose back will be turned, then look east for another guy walking by. Hold him up and then move to the northwestern corner of the area. Wait for him to turn his back on you, and point the banana at him. Then wait for the last guy up at the house to start walking to the right before going up the stairs (you don't need to walk slowly on the stairs, he won't notice you) and holding him up too. This mission can be done very fast; it's not like Big Boss is an avid dog tag collector or anything, so you won't have to take those from people.

Bananal Fruta de Oro: Sorting Shed

This time you'll only be holding everyone up in one area, the sorting shed. It should be fairly simple to hold these guys up, but you might want to try going through the sorting shed first. If you don't want any chance of a guard helping another one back up, just extract them as you come across them. Additionally, to prevent a game over after being caught by a guard, grab them and hold onto them quickly after being found (don't slam them into the ground). Once you're holding on to them, let them go and immediately point your banana at them.

Underground Passage B

I heavily recommend wearing the sneaking suit for this mission so you don't have to worry about footstep noise. Once the mission starts, run over to the guy on the right and point your gun at him, then go to the guy on the left near him. Once he starts to get on the ground, roll over the small fence and run to the third soldier before heading into the small room. In the room will be another soldier; if you were fast enough, you should catch him before he leaves the room out the other doorway. Finally, the fifth guard will be walking in the direction of where you started; wait until he can't see you before holding him up.

Take the stairs that are on this side of the room to reach the second floor. Run to the soldier nearest to your left; if you want to play it safe, wait until he walks by and hold him up then. Next, continue to the right to find a single guard all alone. The last two enemies will be on the other side of the floor that you haven't been to yet. The one at the end won't move from his position, so don't worry about him; wait until the eighth guard is facing away before holding him up, and then do the same with the last guard.

40 enemies are going to be coming at you, and the mission will fail if you allow any to go to the exit. Tranquilize the guards shooting at you from afar at the start of the mission, and then try to use the rest of your Hush Puppy ammo very sparingly since you won't be getting supply drops in here. Take stun grenades and smoke grenades with you too, and use the stun rod as much as you can; it's actually very effective in this mission. After three circles of stun damage appear on your screen, stop using the stun rod so the battery recharges and you're not using more than you have to.

There are only two places to defend this time, and the enemies will probably never get close to either of them. This is a pretty simple mission due to the low enemy count and open space. Some of the heavier guys will try to take the turrets above; shoot them somewhere on their body a few times and they should pass out. Be sure to call in supply drops before you need them so you're not waiting for them to come in.

Camino de Lava: Hillside

You'll have to sneak through the entire cluster of areas without being detected, tranquilizing is allowed. There are only two guards here, and they should be really easy to take care of. The second one is always going to be an S Rank Mess Hall soldier, so you might find yourself replaying this mission a lot for him (and the A Rank R&D member in Cafetal Aroma Encantado: Entrance, but going for him will take too long). Some design specs are on the far right of this area.

Camino de Lava: Junction

Two more enemies are walking around in plain sight, and there's a sniper to the left on a cliff. All three should be pretty easy to find and take care of.

Aldea los Despiertos

Tranquilize the guy to the right first, and then head up to where the blockade used to be. You can either sneak up on this guy with the stun rod to save bullets or just shoot him in the head. You can ignore everyone else here.

Los Cantos: Canyon

There's going to be a guy right at the start of this area; you'll obviously want to take him out. Down below are two more soldiers for you to put to sleep. The one that's farthest away is actually an A Rank Medical soldier, and with enough Mess Hall people from the start of the mission, he might get enough of a morale boost to become S Rank. It's worth your time to get him, it doesn't take long.

Los Cantos: Ridge

There are three enemies here. The first one won't move, so you can walk past him on the left and shoot down the enemy in front of the truck. The guy behind the truck won't notice you so long as you don't get too close to the truck as you move to the next area.

Fuerte la Ladera

You're going to want to get to the Crater Base to end the mission, so you'll have to take out all four enemies here. First, tranquilize the soldier on the ground and then on the left side of the fortress wall. Soon a third enemy will appear on the right side; he's going to be an A Rank Mess Hall soldier (and might become S Rank himself later), so it's a good idea to extract him too. But before you go up the ladder, look through the gate in the fortress and shoot out the very last enemy; he should be easily within sight. Once you're done, head into the base to complete the mission.

Bring chaff grenades (as highly developed as you can) as well as some sort of lethal weapon to deal with kidnappers.

Back Gate

There's going to be only a few enemies in the Back Gate, and a kidnapper in each of the three areas of this mission. Knock out the guys in the first little area with the machine gun, and then toss a chaff grenade down into the lower hallway. Time it just right so that you jump into the hallway and run to the other side as quickly as possible; doing it right should give you just enough time to get to the other side without getting caught.

At the other side, you should see one enemy on the upper floor of this last section. Tranquilize him and head up the ladder to the left, and finally tranquilize or hold up the last enemy before moving onward. You might see some design specs near the elevator on top of a tall crate; come back to this mission later with a Love Box to get to it.

Small Maintenance Dock

Only three enemies are walking around here in addition to the kidnapper watching over the upper areas. You can tranquilize all three enemies from across the dock from where you start out. Do so and toss a chaff grenade to safely get to the other side of the dock and up the stairs to the roof.

Rooftop

Again, there will be three enemies and a kidnapper in this area. Take out the one on your side of the roof first, and then look across to find another out in the open. Tranquilize him, and the third will run over to wake him up. Knock him out too, and once everyone's passed out, toss your third chaff grenade and shoot down the kidnapper. Now you'll be all set to go to the other side and towards the exit.

You only need to knock out the one on the left, since the guy near the prisoner won't move, but if you're tempted to get that prisoner, knock him out or hold him up to be safe.

Underground Passage B

There will be a guard in front of you, who should be the first to be neutralized. In the small room ahead is a prisoner on a table (who will occasionally have the Patriot and Japanese Patriot skills) as well as an enemy; tranquilize the enemy and wait until the guard with a shield down the hall turns around. Pump some Hush Puppy rounds into him as well as the soldier who walks in front of the doorway, and then wait for the other shield guard to wake up his friend. Río del Jade

A pretty big group of enemies are walking around here, so be careful. Run into the small building and hold the guy up in there before he turns around, and then focus on the guards that are obstructing you from reaching the other side. If you haven't gotten the Leap of Faith trophy in the Main Ops, you can come back to this mission later and get it by jumping off the roof of this building into the straw box below.

El Cenegal: Swamp (South)

There are three enemies here, and all three can easily be held up so you don't waste ammo. However, you shouldn't bother with the soldier next to the boat, because he won't move and therefore isn't a threat.

El Cenegal: Ravine

Hide behind the nearby tree until the enemy in front of you is either looking away from you or is open to being shot with tranquilizer rounds, and then move to the bridge over the ravine to find two more enemies. Take them out and move over the bridge to the next area; on the other side of the bridge will also be some design specs.

El Cenegal: Swamp (North)

Like the other side of the swamp, there are only three enemies here, but this time only the first one has his back turned to you. Do what you will with him and then tranquilize the two others as you move along to the sorting shed.

Bananal Fruta de Oro: Sorting Shed

This last area has another handful of enemies, all of which should be tranquilized because at this point you'll be really frustrated to have to restart. Take out the guy in front of you, as well as the one to the left, before heading inside the sorting shed. Then knock out as many as you can before two more walk in together from the other side of the area. Once they stop walking, put the guard on your left to sleep first, because the one on the right will be looking slightly away enough to where he won't notice. For this mission, and the other two Dead Man's Treasure Extra Ops, make sure to bring a Soliton Radar, developed through R&D. The items you need to find will always have a big noticeable marker right above them, so you won't have to look very hard to find them.

Selva de la Muerte: Bottom of Cliff

There are two items here, and two ghosts guarding them. When he turns away, quickly roll off onto the ground below and rescue the dying soldier. Then turn around to the back end of the building and you'll find another dying soldier. The ghost will most likely spot you and make the famous "!" noise, but it shouldn't cause an alert if you start the rescuing process. Once the coast is clear, pick up the item at the end of the path and climb back onto the roof with the crate near the side you rolled off of. Now you'll want to return to near where the ladder was and slowly walk off the edge towards where the second ghost was; you should grab onto the ledge, and you need to shuffle all the way to the left to find the second item.

With two in hand, look to the open area and you'll find another dead body. Help him out as soon as the coast is clear, and then go for his friend nearby. Finally, run around to the ladder that takes you up to the roof of the building that has the two remaining items on it (their markers should be clearly visible) and you'll find the body of the last soldier. You will eventually get a message from a ghost of someone from Metal Gear Solid 3, who in most cases is going to be the legendary scout The End, which is only fitting due to the reward of getting this trophy. This camo makes sneaking much easier in any environment.

Extra Ops 063: Pooyan Mission

Los Cantos: Canyon

The Pooyan missions are a tribute to one of Konami's very old games from way back in the day, Pooyan. It's basically the same concept as what you'll be doing here. Just shoot the balloons to save the soldiers, and you'll get points. You might want to bring a pistol and an accurate assault rifle for this since you'll want to have your ammo covered as much as possible. It's a really simple concept; you can't not S Rank this unless you miss a balloon.

Isla del Monstruo

For Pooyan missions, you want to take with you a high capacity assault rifle of some kind, as well as a pistol for more precise shooting. The balloons will be far enough away from the soldiers to where you have to really try to hit the soldiers instead of the balloon, but you should still be careful about it just in case. There shouldn't be any concern for time since as long as you hit all of the balloons, you'll be getting an S Rank on this.

You'll want to come back here again to get another trophy, this time for cooking a ration the way monster hunters do it.

Once you rescue all the soldiers, you can ignore the remaining balloons with cartoons on them, just go to the barbecue spit and start cooking some rations. Make sure not to burn one or take it off too early, or you'll be getting a burnt or rare ration instead. On the other hand, if you want to technically have all the recovery items marked down as developed, you'll have to get one of each type of ration, for each development level of the normal ration.
