Mafia III: Definitive Edition on the PS4 allows players to discover a vast, diverse and seedy open world ruled by the mob and corrupt officials. You are Lincoln Clay - Who is Lincoln Clay? An orphan and Vietnam veteran hell bent on revenge against the Italian Mafia for the brutal slaughter of the black mob, the closest thing to family he’s ever had. Choose your own personal play-style, from brute force and blazing guns to stalk-and-kill tactics as you use Lincoln’s military training and gathered intel to tear down the Italian Mafia.

Mafia III it has one of the most interesting setting and atmospheres in gaming.
New Bordeaux (New Orleans?) is a beautiful old era metropolis that's bursting with life and a rarefied dose of character that makes the environment itself feel alive. The dazzling mix of color, interesting NPCs, and the perfectly realized tone makes you feel like exploring every alley and make things feel incredibly rewarding for doing so.

The introductory hours of this game are some of the best the genre has ever seen. From the way we're given the plot and its players to the ways we navigate the city!
In terms of aural quality the music is highly evocative and it sets the mood extremely well. Additionally, the voice acting is handled extremely well.
The story is presented in an almost faux-documentary style that is not only unique to the genre but a well considered idea considering the substance here. Our protagonist, the infamous Lincoln Clay, succeeds in being a terrible person but also someone we root for. As the typical antihero, we see his revenge and sometimes barbaric behavior and take flight with him throughout his journey. We might feel a little bad for our actions but by the end of it all we will feel we have made our decisions with conviction.
Family isn't who you're born with, it's who you die for. — Lincoln Clay"Family isn't who you're born with, it's who you die for." — Lincoln Clay
Mafia III might trudge along to its final conclusion because for someone after the game's initial hours, it begins to become a tedious exercise of similarly boring missions. For all its many shortcomings, Mafia III still manages to wrap you in a revenge tale begs you to push forward, helped along by a storytelling format that offers up the right amount of suspension and foreshadowing at the right times. It’s not always fun, but Mafia III has a story to tell. And although it requires patience, it’s one that often returns the favour.
