3. Lost Planet 2 CampaignUpdate notes

In order to complete the game fully you will need to do at least one playthrough on each difficulty, unlocking Extreme after finishing Hard. The following strategies will be designed for Extreme difficulty, but are applicable across the board. Start off on Easy to begin with, so that you can accumulate credits to unlock weapons and abilities through a combination of progression and the slot machine. I also suggest playing as much as possible in co-op, 386 areas will take a long time. The Good Job Awards for each level will be listed as well.

Episode 1: Chapter 0: Prologue A and B

Hide ads

GJ awards: There are no GJ awards for the prologue missions.

There are two different prologues, and which one you will get depends on which player you are. Players 1 and 3 get Prologue A, and players 2 and 4 get Prologue B. So, you will need to play the prologue at least twice to get both. Prologue A has the players on the ground in VSs, while Prologue B has the players in the air. Both sets of players will eventually meet-up at the end. (As a side note, I do not think that it is possible to die while both pairs are separated, even on Extreme difficulty.)

Prologue A

This section is easy and straightforward enough. You start in a VS. Keep walking along, killing any Akrid nests along the way and collecting T-ENG from water towers until your VS conks out. After a cutscene you should come to a data post, which you have to activate to continue. Once this is done, climb the nearby cliff using your grapple. On the other side is another data post as well as an abandoned building that is teeming with Akrid. After clearing the nests out you will be joined by your partners to face off against a large Chrysalid Akrid. Focus on its back sack, use the weapons from the discarded VS's as well as the heavy weapons scattered around the area to kill it. When it's dead reconvene at the Osprey to end the level and earn:

Prologue B

This section is even more straightforward and easy. All you have to do is enjoy the ride in the Osprey while you shoot Akrid. You will be re-united with the other players at the end in order to fight the large Akrid.

Episode 1: Chapter 1: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Activate All the Data Posts! - Self explanatory.

Defeat the Akrid! - For this one, you have to destroy both arms of the Akrid before killing it. (Play on Normal or higher otherwise you might kill it before you blow its arms off.)

Strike a Pose! - All four players have to emote at the same time when prompted. (Hold cn_start and then press any of the D-pad buttons to emote.)

This mission is fairly easy and straightforward. Try to also kill 30 small Akrid with your standard weapon here. When you begin, there should be a data post just ahead of you as well as a group of flying Akrid. Continue ahead and there will be a second data post just before some Akrid hives. The hives count as medium sized Akrid, so farm them a bit for a few small enemies before destroying them with your weapon of choice. Just past the Akrid hives, go down the path, but be careful as a bunch of Akrid will spawn in behind you and fly down the hill and will hit you if you are in their path. Once you are at the bottom, you will see an Osprey drop off a bunch of AI characters that will get destroyed by a Chrysalid. Take out the Akrid by destroying its two limbs and then finishing it off. There will also be another data post in this area. After this, continue on through some Akrid hives until you reach the end. Farm the hives more until you get 30 small Akrid killed with your weapon of choice, destroy the hives to get 7 medium Akrid kills with the same weapon, and get 50 overall kills. Once you cross the red line have all 4 players emote to finish off this area.

Episode 1: Chapter 1: Mission 2

GJ awards:

Break Through the Enemy Lines! - Complete the mission with no casualties. (For this, you can just play solo with no AI teammates on Easy and take your time.)

Run the Akrid Gauntlet - There is an area to the right teeming with Akrid, go through it to get this GJ award. (You don't need to kill any of the Akrid you just need to run through it.)

This is another simple one, although this time there are two paths that will take you to the end. You can either go right, through the Akrid 'gauntlet' or straight ahead and fight through the Jungle Pirates. There are two data posts in the jungle pirate base and one data post in the Akrid 'gauntlet'. Anyway, both paths converge in the middle of the jungle pirate base. I say to clear the entire map out, as there are enough pirates for you to get enough soldier kills for a GJA and enough Small Akrid to do the same in the gauntlet. At the end of the level open the gate to proceed.

Episode 1: Chapter 1: Mission 3

GJ award:

Keep the Control Units On! - Complete the mission without letting any of the control units get deactivated by the enemy. (This is for the second part of this mission where you have to capture the drill control units while fighting off Jungle Pirates. Best done with four human players.)

This mission is divided into two halves: first, you will have to storm the jungle pirate base, activating generators scattered across the map. Second, you will then have to activate four drills and then defend them from waves of enemies until the mission is complete. There are numerous automated turrets, as well as four enemy VSs, and four snipers. Depending on what difficulty you are playing on, there will be a long range ammo spawn just in front of you (if not, then make sure you pick up some long range ammo in the previous mission). The map is essentially a circular pit, with a number of passages cut into the sides, with a big drilling platform in the middle of the open space. There is one sniper on top of the drilling platform, and the other three will be in the passages in the walls of the pit. Use your long range weapon to take out the snipers, pirates, VS, and turrets below you and to the left. Follow the path until you can go left into the cave, destroying the 2 turrets in this hall. In the next room cleaar out the VS and pirates before activating the first generator. This is where I got the GJA for 12 headshots and 7 VS kills with long-range weapons. Leave this cave and follow the path once more, destroying the turrets on your way to the next generator. Go up the path to another generator, sniping the VS on the ground below you before jumping into the center drill for another generator. Go down the stairs and into the next area for the final generator. Once all generators are activated, a brief cutscene will play and part two of the mission will begin.

There are two drill units underneath the drilling platform, and two just off from it, that you will have to activate. The enemies spawning in will be actively trying to deactivate the drill units, so it is advisable to have two people underneath the drilling platform, and the other two players by the other drill units. As the second part begins, a VS will have spawned high up, and a second (larger, more powerful) VS will be airdropped in once the countdown has reached a certain point. Once the countdown is over, the mission will end. Obviously, if any one drill unit gets deactivate, this will pause the countdown. During the finishing cutscene, there will be some quick time events. You can either miss them (you need to miss 4) or be the first in your co-op game to hit one to unlock the respective awards for those. Missing them has no negative consequences.

Episode 1: Chapter 2: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Activate all the Data Posts! - Self explanatory.

Defeat the Akrid! - You have to kill every single Akrid of a specific type. This is for the spiky looking ones.

Find the Hidden Route - There is a hidden route near the beginning of the level to a hidden area, behind some trees on the right.

This is the mission that has a secret passage leading to the second area. Completing the mission by taking the normal exit at the end of the level will take you straight to the third area. The secret passage is right near the beginning of the level, so you will have to backtrack to it once you have done everything else in the mission. The secret passage is a tunnel that is located behind a tree on the right, just before you go through that big doorway. In order to unlock the trophy for completing the game on every difficulty you MUST go through this hidden route, making this entire level skippable. Unfortunately, since we need some awards here, this area will have to be cleared out this one time.

There are a number of data posts in this area, as well as a bunch of spiky looking Akrid that you will have to kill for a GJ award. There's also an abundance of Dongo's (rolling Akrid) and hives which all count as Medium Akrid, making this section ideal for using weapons you need against them. There is a walkway high above the doorway that has some ammo spawns, and there is a high passage that overlooks the area with all the Akrid hives that is accessible by grappling up the cliff directly opposite from where you go through the big doorway. The first data post is just past the big doorway. The second is slightly further ahead. The third is in the large area with all the Akrid hives, and the last is near the exit that leads to the third area. Take it slow and clear the entire area, killing all of the Akrid for any awards you may need. Once you're done here return to the starting area, then check the cliff face next to the tree. Grapple up into the cave to enter the next area.

Episode 1: Chapter 2: Mission 2

GJ awards:

Defeat the Akrid! - There are four specific Akrid you have to kill to get this one. They are right near the end.

Get Across the Bridge - Now! - You will come to a part where there are multiple bridges crossing a chasm. All players have to get across without anybody dying.

As mentioned before, this area can only be accessed via the secret tunnel behind the tree on the right side just before going through the large doorway. You will need to beat this area for the trophies related to completing the episode, game, and getting all of the awards. You will come to a narrow bridge that leads across to a small hut. There are a couple of dudes hanging around here that shouldn't be too much trouble. Just past this little outpost, you will come to a canyon/ravine like passage full of small Akrid and Akrid hives. Some Dongo's will spawn when you get to the wrecked VS. Just past this area are a couple of bridges crossing a canyon. There will be a handful of VS and a bunch of jungle pirates all waiting for you on the other side. Take out the VS from the opposite side of the bridge to prevent its rocket splash damage from sending you flying to your death. Once the area is mostly clear move across the bridge with no casualties. There is also a pilotable VS on the left side on the once you get across the left-most bridge. This VS will be handy for the boss in the next area, so make sure you take it with you when you get to the exit. I also advise you to go back to the wrecked VS at the canyon for its rocket launcher attachment. As you near the exit, you will come across some Akrid which you need to kill for a GJ award. Kill them and proceed to the first boss.

Episode 1: Chapter 2: Mission 3

GJ awards:

Decimate the Category G Akrid! - Destroy each limb at least once before killing the boss Akrid.

Escape the Breath of Ice - Have a teammate rescue another teammate from being frozen in ice breath.

Akrid Extermination Challenge - Kill all the Akrid in this mission.

If you took the secret passage and went through the second area, you will start on the far right and high up, as opposed to if you skipped the second area, which spawns you on the left, on the ground. If you bought the VS with you, then this should be substantially easier, as you will have a Cat-G Akrid to deal with in the first part of this mission. It is similar to the Queen boss in the first Lost Planet, except outside. Blowing off its two main limbs and spindly, finger-like appendages will cause it minor damage and cause it to stop attacking, allowing you to focus on its main eye. Obviously, using explosives on its main eye when it is stunned is the way to go. If you have the VS, then it makes the battle much easier. Whether or not it is easier solo or in co-op depends on the skill of the other players, as their deaths will drain the Battle Gauge. The GJA for rescuing a teammate did not work for me at all with the AI; I needed another player physically present in my game to be frozen by the ice. After shooting and freeing them, I got the award.

Once the Category G Chrysalid has been defeated, a gate on the right side will blow open, allowing you access to the rest of the map. Take the bridge down and some smaller VS will be there for you should you wish to use them. Simply continue down and kill the S- and M-size Akrid, activating data posts as you go along. After the third post you have some hives and spiky Akrid to deal with, kill them and go up to the bunker on the left for the last post and the few remaining Akrid. Exit this area once you clear it out.

Episode 1: Chapter 3: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Break Through the Front Line! - Complete mission with no casualties.

Destroy the Turrets! - There are two turrets to destroy.

Destroy the VS! - The VS is near the end of the mission.

Simply follow the path to the first data post, which is just down from the enemy base. There will be a couple of enemies of here, but most of them will be in the base up ahead. Try to grab a heavy weapon on your way to the base, as you'll need it/ Despite having to approach the base up a slope, the way the walls are positioned actually gives you excellent cover as you climb up the slope. There will be a manned turret inside equipped with a VS gatling gun, so use cover to avoid taking damage and take it out so you can advance. Once inside, the second data post will be on one of the upper levels. The most direct route is by taking the ladder on the left side of the base. When the area is clear climb up and down the ladder 10 times for a GJA. After activating the data post, take the stairs up a level to another area of the base. There will be a second turret but also a VS, both of which you will have to destroy in order to safely open the exit. There will also be a sniper in the upper levels above the exit. Once the enemies have been dealt with activate the door to open the exit.

Episode 1: Chapter 3: Mission 2

GJ awards:

Annihilate the Jungle Pirates - Complete the mission with no casualties.

Use a VS in Battle! - Kill at least 7 people while piloting a VS.

Find the Multi-seat VS - After crossing the bridge, it is located down to the right. (You don't need to actually get it or use it, just get close enough for the award to pop.)

This mission has two parts. First, you have to capture all the data posts in the enemy base ahead. Second, after a cutscene, you will have to cross a bridge and kill all the respawning enemies until the enemy battle gauge meter is depleted. The first part can be challenging on higher difficulties due to the large amount of enemy piloted VSs, but this also serves as a good spot to get 7 VS kills with a specific weapon. Aside from the usual gaggle of enemy soldiers, there are numerous piloted VSs and just as many automated turrets, both inside the building and outside in the surrounding battlements. Take out the manned VS gatling gun from your starting position, then make your way up to the stairs. There will be a gatling soldier and piloted VS up here to take out, with automated turrets to the left once you reach the top. Go through the hallway here into the building to find 3 more turrets, then go up the slope to enter the base proper. A Bleed and Drion VS will be waiting for you in here, as well as a number of soldiers. Destroy them all and activate the data post. Grapple over the wall here to find another data post near where the turret was destroyed earlier. There will be another VS on the stairs below you, destroy it and kill the soldiers around before dropping down and activating the remaining data posts. If you're a VS short of 7 there's one patrolling by the water's edge, destroy it before activating the last post.

When it comes to crossing the bridge, there will be a larger VS on the bridge, as well as a lot more soldiers and other enemy VSs. Push through the bridge with a partner, then have both of you run down the slope to the right. Finding the multi-seat VS yields an award, but killing 7 enemies while riding as a passenger on one of the attached guns gets you another, as well as getting 7 kills in this one area while in a VS. More enemy VSs will be airdropped in as you deplete the enemy battle gauge. Once the enemy battle gauge meter has been depleted, the mission will end. Taking the multi-seat VS with you into the next area will be a huge help for the upcoming boss fight.

Episode 1: Chapter 3: Mission 3

GJ awards:

Defeat the Category G Akrid! - Complete the mission with no casualties.

Take Out the Legs! - Destroy four of the legs of the boss Akrid.

Aim For the Core! - Do heavy damage to the boss Akrid's core at least twice.

Infiltrate the Category G's Body! - All four players need to enter the Akrid's mouth. (When the boss takes enough damage it will open its mouth for a short time. All four players have to enter the mouth. It does not need to be all at the same time, but it's easier if you all try at once. This is best done on Normal or higher so you don't kill it before all players have entered the mouth.)

Raise the Battle Gauge! - Activate all three Data Posts.

Team Cheer - All four players emote at the same time when prompted.

When you begin, continue forward until you find some wrecked VSs lying around. You should see a lake below, as well as various VSs, some junked, some functional. There will be a data post right in front of you, activate it and quickly move in a circle around the lake to activate the other 2. As you approach the area around the lake, a Cat-G Akrid will emerge from the lake. This boss will walk around the map, using its tongue to swipe at players, and will occasionally do some kind of shockwave attack. You can damage it by repeatedly destroying its legs, as well as shooting the fin-like appendages on its back. You'll need to attack its back for an award, as well as take out 6 legs. After destroying enough legs, it will open its mouth allowing players to jump inside. All 4 players will need to enter via its mouth for a GJ award. The AI will NOT follow you inside, making 4 players mandatory for this award. Aside from this, entering its mouth allows you to shoot its organs, doing more damage, before it ejects you out of its anus. It will then typically dive back into the lake for a time before re-emerging to continue walking around the map again. Make use of the various VSs lying around, and this battle should not be too difficult. Once it has been killed, make sure to have all 4 players emote for the award. Once you kill the Akrid you will finish this Episode and unlock:

Episode 2: Chapter 1: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Stay Out of the Searchlights! - Arrive at the first Data Post without being spotted by the searchlights.

Infiltrate without Casualties! - Complete the mission without anybody dying.

Strike a Pose! - All four players must emote at the same time when prompted.

This is a fairly short and easy mission, just take care to avoid the searchlights (no, you can't shoot them out). Even with all of the other enemies shooting at you, the searchlight pattern won't change, just grapple up to the middle platform and drop down to the data post below. There is a sniper in a tower on the left, but he won't notice you unless you somehow get spotted by the searchlights. Drop down and take out the 2 enemies by the post. Up the slope will be another sniper stood on top of a platform. However, a bunch of enemies will come pouring out of the tunnel if you walk up the slope, so I recommend taking the sniper out first. Once you are up the slope, take out the enemies and enter the tunnel. Follow it around, and you should come across some more enemies once you reach the end. Kill them, and head through the exit to finish the mission. Make sure to clear the enemies out so you can emote in peace.

Episode 2: Chapter 1: Mission 2

GJ awards:

Activate All the Data Posts! - Self explanatory.

Get Past the Security Systems! - Complete the mission without being detected by the security system even once. (The security system alarms are these sphere-like things on poles that flash red when you trigger them. Best to take it slow for this award.)

Destroy the VS! - Kill the VS that only spawns if you get detected by the security system five times or more.

This mission is longer than the first, and features a bunch of alarm systems that are triggered by proximity. One GJ award requires completing the mission without setting off a single one, whereas another requires you to set off a bunch of them in order to trigger an enemy VS to spawn at the end. You will encounter the first of these proximity alarms after your first engagement with enemy troops. The walls in the bunker are destructible, so I recommend grenades. Buster grenades work great if you have them unlocked. Clear out the enemies, and proceed cautiously to avoid setting off the alarm. You can destroy the alarm, just make sure not to get too close. You should then come to a data post, with a bunch of enemies surrounding you. Kill them, activate the data post, and proceed. There'll be another security sensor, so, once again, proceed with caution. You will then come to another data post, with enemies, and there will, you guessed it, another enemy sensor somewhere. This time, it will be inside of a shed-like structure. You'll need to destroy it before activating the data post to avoid accidentally triggering it. After this, there will be only one data post left through some narrow corridors, with a couple of enemies guarding it. Once they are dead and the data post is activated, continue to the exit and deal with the enemies here before continuing through the exit. (Note, if you activated 5 sensors, there will be a VS at the exit.)

Episode 2: Chapter 1: Mission 3

GJ awards:

Exterminate the Akrid! - There are two squid-like Akrid that spawn in the sewer part of the map that you need to kill.

Destroy the Bleed VSs! - Destroy all three Bleed VSs (they're the only enemy VSs in the mission).

This mission will have a lot more enemies in it, including numerous enemies piloting VSs. There is also an optional sewer area that serves as a shortcut and features two, large, squid-like Akrid that you can kill for a GJ award. The first area won't be too problematic, just kill the soldiers and activate the data post. The area after this, however, is where you encounter the VSs (there will be 3 in total), as well as a lot of enemies. Some of the enemies here have flamethrowers, which are particularly annoying since you'll stay on fire for some time afterwards, which is a nightmare on Extreme difficulty. Stay at a distance and use grenades or ranged weapons, taking the sewer path off to the right to bypass some of these enemies and to get the award. The Bleed VS's will drop down at the end of the mission, take them all out for another award.

Episode 2: Chapter 1: Mission 4

GJ awards:

Beware of the Trains! - Complete the mission without any player getting hit by the trains.

Maintain Control of the Posts! - Do not allow the enemy to deactivate the control point.

Destroy the Cyclops Sentries! - Kill all three Cyclops sentries. (They appear around the 1 minute mark once the countdown is triggered, so look out for them.)

This mission is fairly simple to understand, you have to board a train. First thing to note is beware of the rail tracks. Trains will keep going through the area until you activate the device that stops one for you. Also, when you stop a train, do NOT make contact with it until it has fully stopped, or the game will count it as if you've been hit by a train moving at full speed, and you will die instantly. Anyway, continue from where you start into the train area and take care of the various soldiers. Throw grenades behind the shield guys to take them out quickly. You will then have to activate some kind of post-like device on the other side of the train yard and keep it under your control for a full 90 seconds. Once it has been activated, you will have to hold off against respawning soldiers, including those in Battle Armour and those with Shields. At some point, some unmanned VSs will spawn and you will get a GJ from destroying all three. Position at least 2 teammates by the post with the others watching the enemy spawn points. Once the time is up, the level ends.

Note: Coming back to this level on lower difficulties you will need to get hit by the train 5 times for a Nom.

Episode 2: Chapter 2: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Destroy the Sentry Turrets! - Self explanatory.

The Press Is Your Friend! - There is a huge pressing machine in this level. You need to trick an enemy soldier into getting killed by it.

The Pulveriser Is Your Friend! - Same as above, except a huge machine with lots drilling/grinding bits.

This mission takes place in some kind of industrial/warehouse zone filled with conveyor belts and other contraptions. Parts of this mission CAN be annoying, although if you are careful then you should do fine. Run up and take the conveyor belt, being wary that soldiers on the side will open fire as you progress upwards. Capture the data post and jump down to the area below and follow the next conveyor belt. You will have a bunch of soldiers and turrets to deal with, so make sure to utilise proper cover. Destroy all of these turrets for an award. The conveyor belt continues on until it drops down to a machine called the Pulveriser. You want to get off before you fall into it, just in case it wasn't obvious. You will then need to grapple up to the platform above, overlooking the Pulveriser. However, there will be enemies here with rocket launchers, the conveyor belt will be moving towards the Pulveriser, and there are gaps in the platform to watch out for too. There will be a data post to the right side, activate it and continue down the conveyor belt. There will be a machine at the end called the Crusher. You will have to wait for an opening to run through, but there will be a bunch of heavily armed enemy soldiers on the other side, some of whom will have Battle Armour and flamethrowers. Kill them, and continue through into the corridor from whence they came and take the ladder on the left to the mission exit. There are awards for sending enemies into the pulverizer and crusher, but without plasma weapons it will be a very arduous task. Use plasma grenades or rifles to stun the enemies on the conveyor belt and keep them on it until they fall into the respective death trap.

Episode 2: Chapter 2: Mission 2

GJ awards:

Infiltrate Time Challenge! - Finish the mission in 7 minutes or less.

Wipe Out the Enemy Forces - Self explanatory, simply kill all the enemies in this area. The enemy spawns in this area are somewhat glitched. Best done solo, and best to take your time. Do not jump down the hole at the end of the right path (you can still kill the enemies along this path, though) and, when you come to the stairs, keep repeatedly backtracking back up to allow the enemies to spawn. Once you get to the bottom, jump down the hole, follow the path and start climbing up the ladder that will take you back to the top. This should spawn two more enemies down at the bottom. Kill them, go back through the passage and up the smaller ladder to spawn the last two enemies. THEN break the door to the mission exit.

Window Breaker - Destroy at least 6 panes of glass in this mission.

This mission is full of enemies, but should not give you much trouble. However, the enemy spawns are glitched so be aware of this when you are going for the various GJ awards. In the beginning you will see a number of windows lining the hallway, destroy them all for that award. There two ways of reaching the end, either going down the stairs, or by taking the route behind the red door, jump down the hole, and take the small passage leading to a ladder to the final area. There are an equal amount of enemies, and there will be a bunch of enemies waiting for you at the end. Moreover, a bunch more enemies will spawn once you destroy the final red door. Once they are all dead, go through the red door to find the exit.

Episode 2: Chapter 2: Mission 3

GJ awards:

Destroy the VSs! - Destroy at least 9 enemy Vital Suits.

Use the VS Weapons! - Pilot a VS and get at least 10 kills.

This is a tough level, lots of VS combat and stunlocking going on here. You will immediately be confronted by some soldiers and a VS at the beginning. This VS will be one of the bigger types and so will take more damage to take down (every VS in this mission will be roughly the same). There will be a data post at the end of the street, although there will be soldiers and a VS on the left. There will be two more data posts immediately ahead, on on the left hand side on top of a ledge and the other just before the bridge. There will snipers in the building directly opposite you at the end of the bridge with plasma rifles and rocket launchers, so be aware of them. Once you cross the bridge, you will be attacked by two more VSs. At this point, you should be able to find pilotable VSs lying around, so make sure to make good use of them and the VS weapons lying around. Once all three data posts have been activated, you will be tasked with killing all the survivors, but it will basically be a bit where you have to kill respawning enemies until the bar at the bottom of the screen disappears. You will be attacked by waves of soldiers, including 4 in Battle Armour, and at least 5 enemy VSs. Use the VS rockets and gatling guns to take down as many as possible, ending the mission.

Episode 2: Chapter 3: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Aim for the Core! - Do heavy damage to the boss Akrid's weak spots at least 4 times.

Use the Pile Bunker - Use the VS Pile Bunker three times on the boss Akrid when prompted.

Defeat the Category G! - Complete the mission with no casualties.

Team Cheer - All 4 players emote at the same time when prompted.

This mission is comprised of two halves: a part where you have to activate all three data posts while dealing with all the soldiers, and a boss fight against a Cat-G Akrid: Akrid-X. The enemies can be problematic as they have plasma rifles, etc. but once they are dead, activating the data posts are easy. Note, however, that the big VS on the left will despawn after the cutscene, even if you were inside of it as the cutscene began. After the cutscene, you will have to fight Akrid-X, and this is one of the toughest boss fights in the game. There are plenty of pilotable VSs and VS weapons lying around, as well as some Battle Armour, rocket launchers, grenades, etc. You will have to keep pummelling away against the exposed head and forearm (which will keep regenerating) until its health bar has been depleted. When its head grows and extends a bit, attach a VS Pile Bunker weapon onto a Bleed VS. The Bunker is much more powerful attached to a Bleed, since you can do a melee strike. Hit its exposed head 3 times for an award, so keep whittling it down until it dies. However, you will have to kill it twice, as it will get back up for a second round after you 'kill' it for the first time. Fortunately, it will be a lot easier to damage in the second round, so much so that it will be over in a minute or even less. Finishing this off will unlock:

Episode 3: Chapter 1: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Hold Off the Cat-G! - Hit the boss Akrid in the mouth 7 times with explosive barrels from the train. When the level begins have at least two players run to the back of the train while the other players head to the front. Essentially, whoever heads to the back has to slow the Cat-G Akrid down by waiting until it surfaces and then shooting the locks holding the barrels down. They should fly away and then hit the Cat-G in the mouth. Repeat until you have the Gold.

Strike a Pose! - All 4 players must emote at the same time when prompted.

This mission is about as straightforward as it gets. You have to hold of the Cat-G Akrid, Red Eye, until the escape chopper at the end of the train is ready. As soon as you start, head towards the end of the train Red Eye is approaching from. Essentially, all you have to do is wait until Red Eye surface, and then shoot the chains holding the barrels and they will fly into Red Eye's mouth. You can also use the VS rocket launchers lying around to hold it off, also. Anyway, rinse and repeat until the chopper is ready and then just haul anus to the other end of the train. Shoot the locks on the barrels corresponding to the direction that Red Eye surfaces. For example, if he pops up on the right, shoot the right chain. For the large containers of barrels you have to destroy both chains on the corresponding side. When the T-ENG levels reach 100%, make sure to have everyone emote at once before jumping onto the car containing the Osprey.

Episode 3: Chapter 2: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Exterminate the Akrid! - Kill both boss Akrid in this mission.

Avoid the Akrid! - During the fight against the two boss Akrid, they will start scanning, and you will be told to stay still. (Simply have all 4 players stay still and not get detected by the Akrid scans.)

This mission is divided into two halves: one will be a fight against a bunch of desert pirates, and the second will be another boss fight against two large Akrid: the Debouse. There will be a small VS lurking around in the first half, but the biggest thing to watch out for is getting one-shotted by snipers, so take cover. Secure the data posts, and slowly whittle down the enemy battle gauge. Once you have defeated enough enemies to deplete the enemy battle gauge, there will a brief cutscene and the two Debouse will appear. These guys have poor vision and rely on echolocation. Every so often, they will stand upright and emit some kind of sonar from their heads. When they do this, stay absolutely still, otherwise they will barrel towards you at lightning speeds. There are some VS weapons lying around the map if you can find them. If you can find the VS shotgun, this is probably the best weapon to use if you can get in close enough to blast their soft, exposed under-bellies. Lure the Akrid to destroy the buildings, leaving the weapons inside on the ground in the rubble. Once they are dead, the mission will end.

Don't Lose Any Men! - Complete the mission with no casualties.

Destroy the Train's Cannon Turrets! - There are two cannon turrets that you must destroy in this mission.

In this mission, you will be riding a train when, all of sudden, a train carrying the railway gun will pull up along side you. Be prepared for a fight, as this level is incredibly annoying due to a combination of knockdown physics and splash damage. There is a single data post in the sole carriage of the train you are on. The enemy train will be crawling with enemies, including manned turrets, cannon VS, and Ospreys. Make sure you don't stand near the end of the carriage as if you get hit you can get blown out of the door onto the tracks and insta-killed. The amount of times I have played with people who have stood too near the end of the carriage and fallen out is unreal. Now, there is a hefty arsenal of weapons available to you from the start, so stock up. Also, the Ospreys I mentioned? One will drop off some enemy soldiers on the roof of your carriage. The amount of times I've played with people who didn't pay attention only to get shot in the back was another occurrence that was more frequent than I would have liked it to be. Be sure to take out the cannon turrets as soon as you see them, as they can fire quite rapidly. Once you reach a certain point, there will be a cutscene where your team boards the enemy train where you will have to push some buttons.

Get to the Front of the Train! - Complete the mission in 5 minutes or less.

You will begin on the enemy train your team has just boarded. The goal of this mission is to move up the train, capturing all three data posts. Once again, the train will be crawling with enemy soldiers, as well as there being manned turrets, enemy VSs (including Ospreys). There will, however, be a large pilotable VS on the other side of the train. Just be careful jumping across, as if you fall and land in between, you WILL die in one hit. The first data post will be on this side. Whereas the other two data posts will be on the side of the train you start on, but will be farther up. Once you have captured all three Data Posts, a cutscene will play, and the mission will end. Once again, watch out for rocket splash damage and turret rockets.

Aim for the Core! - Destroy at least 4 of the orange cores on the boss Akrid.

Fire the Railway Gun! - You will need to load and fire a fully charged shell for this one. You can charge the shells by having two players on either side of the Railway Gun using the two consoles. Has to be the first shot you make with the Railway Gun.

Repair the Railway Gun! - When the Railway Gun is down to 30% health, you will be prompted to use the Railway Gun's coolant systems, which are down below in the interior.

Shoot Down the Akrid Projectiles! - The boss Akrid will shoot large, spherical projectiles at you. Simply shoot down 3 of these or more.

One More Hit! - When the boss Akrid is near death, you will be prompted to shoot it one last time in the mouth with the Railway Gun. It will appear from behind you, so make sure to have the Railway Gun already positioned.

Team Cheer! - All 4 players must emote at the same time when prompted.

This mission is a boss battle against Red Eye, only this time you get to kill the bugger. Essentially, you will need to pick up shells in the bottom of the forward section of the train, take them up to the cannon and load them into the cannon. The cannon itself is controlled by a pilotable chair that functions like a VS, allowing you to move the cannon and aim it. However, aiming is slow, but can be sped up by two devices on either side of the cannon that rotate the cannon by 90 degrees in their respective directions. You can also charge the shells with thermal energy before firing, but this has to be done by others via two devices just ahead of the reload mechanism. Anyway, so Red Eye will appear on one of two sides, and you will have to use the cannon to destroy the red cores on. This needs to be done for both sides. The best strategy I found was to use the AA guns found on the same level of the train as the coolant core, they have unlimited ammo and no cooldown. Once its health is low enough, it will appear behind you. When this happens, you will need to either have the cannon already in position and loaded, or very quickly use the devices to turn it to face behind so you can shoot it before it destroys the train. On higher difficulties, it attacks very quickly, so make sure the cannon is facing the rear of the train before Red Eye even disappears from the sides of the train. Once it is dead, the mission will end. Make sure to emote after the creature has been killed. Finishing this shorter Episode unlocks:

Strike a Pose! - All 4 players must emote at the same time when prompted.

In this mission half of the team with spawn in a cell, and the other half will spawn on the highest level of the prison. The guys in the cell will only have handguns until they pick up other weapons. There are lots of automated turrets on this floor, as well as on the subsequent floors, as well as a lot of enemy soldiers. In order to progress down the prison compound, you will need to activate data posts. Once you have reached the bottom, there will be a manned turret, as well as two VSs and a ton of enemy soldiers. There will be a lower section beneath the manned turret that you can jump down into. The exit is here, and you will need to activate a device to unlock the gate into the sewers. Try to stay above the fray until the VS's have been destroyed so you don't get stunlocked and pummeled to death in the pit. There will also be some soldiers down here, and jumping down here will cause more soldiers to spawn in the room above.

Exterminate the Akrid! - Kill all three squid-like Akrid that spawn in the sewers.

Akrid Extermination Challenge - There is an alternate path to the left of the big hole you jump down into, take it and kill the Akrid down there.

This whole level takes place in a sewer and is fairly short and easy. There are two paths: you can either drop down the big hole down to the first data post, or you can take one of the side tunnels through an Akrid nest to where the 2nd data post is. You will, however, run into these big, squid-like Akrid that can stun and then one-hit you, so take care. The top path leads to a large number of nests and small Akrid, as well as a data post. The bottom path also will take you to a data post and a squid Akrid, so I suggest backtracking and taking both routes to get every available award in the level. At the end will be a device to unlock the way out.

Episode 4: Chapter 1: Mission 3

GJ award: Fight Off Enemy VSs! - Destroy all enemy piloted Vital Suits in this mission.

This mission can be annoying, as there are a bunch of unmanned turrets, soldiers with rocket launchers, and multiple enemy VSs reading to pound you into the ground if you make the slightest misstep. As you enter the first area, you will have to deal with soldiers, and a couple of smaller enemy VSs. When you reach the bridge, however, you will notice a wall covered in turrets that will rain fire down upon you, so you will have to move fast. Now, if you reach the interior area near the data post, then I suggest one person grappling up to where the turrets are, jumping over and into the inside where the turret control posts are, and then destroying them to take out the turrets that way. On the other side of the wall of turrets will be three enemy VS, two of which will be of the larger variety, making them harder to kill. They will be accompanied by, you guessed it, more soldiers. Once they are all dealt with, however, you can activate the two devices on either side of the exit to complete the mission.

Break Through the Enemy Lines! - Complete the mission with no casualties.

Fight Off the Enemy VSs! - Destroy all enemy piloted Vital Suits in this mission.

In this mission, you will be inside a giant warehouse where a bunch of partially-built overland battleships are being made. Anyway, so, for this mission you will simply need to capture all the data posts. Head up the ramp and follow the catwalks until you reach the first data post. It should be marked on your map and HUD. Kill the enemies in the area and then jump down to the first data post and activate it. The second data post should be inside the overland battlecruiser, several floors up, which should be to the right of the first data post. You can reach it by grappling to the top of the battleship and then dropping down a level through a gap on the floor. There will, however, be a VS, some soldiers, and some unmanned turrets up there. Once you have activated the second data post, the third will be on top of one of the wing portions. So, grapple back up to the roof and head to the top-right of the roof and it you should see it below you. Drop down and activate it, and the fourth data post will then become available to activation. This data post will be back inside the main structure, but at the bottom level. There will be a bunch of enemies running around this area. Once the fourth post has been activated, the fifth will be to the north-west. This data post will be near to a section of water where a bunch of soldiers and enemy VSs will emerge out of. The sixth and final data post will be to the east, in a far corner. There will be a VS, some unmanned turrets, and some soldiers here, and some soldiers will begin spawning on the catwalks above. Activating the sixth data post will open up the mission exit nearby. If you find yourself struggling, try to stay up high with a long range weapon to pick off soldiers and VS's below.

Time Challenge: Steal a Sub! - Complete the mission in 7 minutes or less.

Fight Off Enemy VSs! - Destroy all enemy piloted Vital Suits in this mission.

Commandeer a Sub! - Complete the mission with no casualties.

This mission is relatively straightforward. You have to commandeer an enemy sub. Run down the narrow corridor and you will emerge in a submarine dock/pen/slipway area. Head left, and walk down the side path until you reach the first data post. There will be some enemy soldiers, but there will also be a manned VS turret on the ceiling in between the two walkways. Once it has been taken care of, crossover to the other side via one of the bridges, and keep heading down until you reach the second data post. You will most likely be coming under fire from enemy VSs, turrets, and soldiers, but once you have captured the second data post, the enemy sub you are meant to capture will appear in the dock. It will have a data post on top of it, and it will leave down the slipway once you've captured it. Make sure all of you are on it when you capture it, as it will take off without people once the data post has been captured. You will come under fire from enemy soldiers, and soldiers on hover-bike style VSs. Capturing that third data post might be tricky, as there is no cover and you will be surrounded by soldiers, VSs, etc. Use ranged and heavy weapons to take out the VS's, but plasma weapons will drop the hovering enemies directly into the water below. Once the sub reaches the end of the slipway, the mission will end.

Episode 4: Chapter 3: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Break Through the Enemy Lines! - Complete the mission with no casualties.

Destroy the Bleed VSs! - When you approach the enemy fortress, three Bleed VSs will emerge from the front gate. Destroy them all.

Shoot Down the Ospreys! - Destroy all enemy Ospreys in the mission. (They appear at the end once all Data Posts have been activated.)

In this mission, you will begin on a beach near a cliff face. You will want to climb up the side of it and you should find a small enemy outpost on top. There will be a VS inside along with some soldiers, but they are relatively easy to deal with. On certain difficulties, there will be a VS on top of the outpost. You will need one of these in order to get the trophy for merging two VS's together, so get in it and keep it functional for the incoming onslaught. There should be a data post up here that you will need to activate. After this, if you approach the edge of the cliff and look down, you will see a lot of enemy placement on the beach below, including enemy VS, manned turrets, and lots of soldiers. Behind them will be a small enemy fortress. As you approach the enemy fortress, three small VS will emerge from the main gate at the right hand side. Once they are dealt with, activate the data post in front of the enemy fortress. The last two data posts will be inside the enemy fortress, and you will need to capture them both to proceed with the mission. Once you have dealt with the enemies inside and capture the two data posts, you will then have to hold off against an enemy counter-attack. Ospreys will attack you and drop off enemy troops, shoot them all out of the sky for a GJA. If you do not have a VS, you should find one and get inside. There should be one or more inside the fortress, and you will want to make sure you are still inside once the mission ends as it will carry over to the next mission. You will need a specific VS to get the VS merge trophy: it will have wing-like protrusions sticking out of the side, can hover, and can turn invisible. Once you have dealt with the enemy counter-attack, the mission will end.

Episode 4: Chapter 3: Mission 2

GJ awards:

Activate All the Data Posts! - Self explanatory.

Defeat the Guardian Akrid! - Kill both Tencale Akrid/VS (they look like giant spiders and have weapon platforms mounted on them.)

Defeat the Akrid Sentries! - Kill all Dongo Gear Akrid/VS. They are like the Akrid that roll, but have weapons attached to them. The last one is right at the end of the mission.

You will be able to get the trophy for merging two VSs in this mission providing you are playing online with at least one other person, and got the required VS in the previous mission and brought it with you for this mission. When you begin this mission, head up the slope and you will come across an Akrid that has been modified into a mobile VS weapons platform. It has basically eight different VS turrets mounted onto it (including the pilot seat). Moreover, the Akrid weak spots will be guarded with metal casings, making it tougher to take out (especially on Extreme difficulty). Each platform destroyed does count as a separate VS destroyed, meaning this is a good area to work on VS kills with specific weapons and for a destroying 15 VS in one area. For this mission, you will have to deactivate energy barriers to continue while activating all the data posts you find. After defeating the Akrid/VS hybrid, activate the first data post and then deactivate the energy barrier in front of you by heading to the tower to the east and deactivating the device there. Once the barrier is down, the second data post will be directly ahead of where the energy barrier used to be.

As you progress, you will be attacked by enemy soldiers and more Akrid/VS hybrids, except rather than the giant spider-like Akrid, they will be the rolling variety, and are substantially easier to take out. You need to kill of these enemies as well (which count as a VS, not a medium Akrid) but be cautious of their rolls. They can roll themselves into the water and off the map, robbing you of the kill. You should soon come to a second energy barrier with the third data post in front of it. Activate the data post, but hold off on de-activating the energy barrier command console just yet. To the left will be a cave with a three-seater VS just outside of it. If you follow the cave inside, you will come across a tank VS. This is the second VS you will need in order to merge two VS together. Simply have the person piloting the tank and the person piloting the other VS from the previous mission meet and then have both players press both sticks down and then move the right stick to the right and the left stick to the left. You should then be prompted to press cn_O to merge. Do so and the trophy will be yours:

While you're here with a partner already, detach the VS's with cn_O and atatch them another 19 times for a Nom. Once you de-activate the second energy barrier, prepare for one heck of a fight as the second spider-like Akrid/VS hybrid will be even tougher than the first, as it will have substantially better weapons mounted onto its gun turrets. Of note, however, is a VS on the beach below which will have several tube-like things on either side. This is one of the superweapon equipped VSs and is the only one available in the campaign. It doesn't pack nearly as much punch as the others, but it is basically a long-range artillery platform. However, on Extreme, the second Akrid/VS hybrid can take all 5 salvos and still remain standing, so you might want to save it for the enemy mini-fortress afterwards. You will need to fire the rocket salvo a total of 10 times for a Nom anyway. The fourth data post, by the way, will be to the far right of the second spider Akrid/VS, at the edge of the beach, next to a decent VS. The console to deactivate the third energy barrier will be closer to where the Akrid/VS hybrid is standing.

The fifth data post will be in front of an enemy mini-fortress that is basically a fortified bunker but with high walls. It is full of enemy soldiers, some of whom are packing sniper rifles, as well as at least one VS. There is a command console on top of a structure at the far back of this enemy structure that you will need to activate in order to drain the water blocking the exit. Once it has been activated, the exit will open and you will be able to continue to the next chapter, although another rolling Akrid/VS hybrid will be blocking the way. Kill it and go through the exit to the finish the mission.

Fight Off the Enemy VSs! - Destroy all enemy piloted Vital Suits in the mission.

Exterminate the Akrid! - Kill both giant snake Akrid.

As you begin the mission there will a couple of soldiers down the ramp. However, an enemy VS tank will drop down as you approach, so make sure you're prepared for that. Once you have destroyed it, go all the way down the ramp until you reach an elevator shaft. Climb the ladder up and you will come to a large open area. There will be a data post up ahead, but there will also be two soldiers with rocket launcher in the two guard towers, as well as lots of regular soldiers on the ground. Moreover, a bunch of soldiers will emerge from the water on the far left side, and two more VS's will attack you. Once everything is dead and you have taken the data post, enter one of the VS' lying around and go into the water. You will find another data post in front of the large gate. Activating the data post will open the large gate. This is a good area to get 12 kills while swimming, jump up and hit cn_X to swim, shooting the jellyfish as you descend. There are more than 12 here to take care of.

Continue until you reach another closed gate and activate the nearby data post to open it. You have to deal with more Akrid here, including two large Akrid with lots of orange spots on their back. Shoot the orange spots on their back to kill the two big Akrid, making sure you don't kill one before the Award pops up on screen. You should find a VS in a T-ENG crate at the bottom of the section in case you need a new VS. Continue to the next gate and open it by activating the data post. You will have to deal with Akrid and a group of enemy VS's here. Once they are dead, the final data post will be up ahead. Activate it to open the final gate and end the mission.

Fight Off Enemy VSs! - Destroy all enemy piloted Vital Suits (except for the Ospreys at the end.)

Shoot Down the Ospreys! - Destroy all the Ospreys that appear at the end of the mission.

This mission can be very short, depending on how you decide to handle it. When you start, head up the ramp and you will arrive on a big platform. Your goal is to head to the next platform on the other side of a closed drawbridge. You will need to find a flying VS in order to cross over and activate the drawbridge to let the rest of the players over. You will find an Osprey and a Fastrey on the top level of the platform. The platform will be crawling with enemy soldiers and enemy VS', and there will be automated turrets on the top level. Once you have reached the other side and activated the drawbridge some new enemies will spawn in and you will eventually be accosted by a bunch of enemy Ospreys. However, you can complete the mission without killing them if you reach the exit and activate both unlock devices before they turn up. Although you will need to defeat the Ospreys at least once for a GJ award.

Beware the Cylinders - There are four cylinders in room 2-C that have those spiky Akrid in. Kill them all.

Defeat the Akrid Sentries! - There are more Dongo Gear Akrid/VS that you have to kill in this mission.

This mission is very linear to begin with, it's a rectangular area with doors that unlock by activating data posts. Simply follow the corridors around, activating data posts as you go. You will encounter a few enemy soldiers as you proceed on. The first data post will be right in front of you as you begin. After activating it, follow the path to the left and continue along the corridors. You will come across a second data post followed by a third one. Once you have activated the third data post, you will then come to a large door that will open as you approach it. You will have to deal with soldiers and an enemy VS. Follow the corridor behind and you will have to deal with some Akrid. Once they are all dealt with, follow the path down and you will come to a circular area. You will come to a door marked '2-B'. Inside you will find the fourth data post. After activating it, the tanks will break and unleash the Akrid within. Go through the door on the opposite side of the hall and break the cylinders in here to kill the Akrid for an award. Return to the circular hallway and door '2-D' will be unlocked. Door '2-D' leads down to the lower level, so take that door. When you reach the next circular hallway, you will be attacked by rolling Akrid/VS hybrids. After defeating them, head into the hallway from which they emerged and you will have to deal with some enemy soldiers and another enemy VS. At the end of the hallway is the final data post. Return to the circular hallway and the lift will now be unlocked, which is also the mission exit. It will, however, also spawn some more rolling Akrid/VS hybrids. Kill them and enter the lift to end the mission.

Take Out the Torpedoes! - Destroy 20 torpedoes or more.

Destroy the Experimental Weapon's Armour - The boss Vital Suit has 8 areas you must destroy: 2 sensor eyes, 2 left arms, 2 right arms, and 2 places on the abdomen. Best attempted on Normal difficulty as the boss VS might not have enough health on Easy.

Escape From the Interdiction Torpedo! - Get caught by an interdiction torpedo and have a teammate free you.

Defeat the Reinforcements! - Kill all 8 reinforcement soldiers that spawn in.

Get the [?] Boxes! - Collect 20 [?] boxes that the boss VS drops when you have destroyed it.

This mission isn't so much tough as it is annoying. However, if you know what you're doing, then it is fairly straightforward. It just takes awhile. Jump into the water and follow the path. You will come to a point where you can jump down onto an underwater platform. You should find the first data post around here. You don't need to capture all the data posts to complete this mission, but it is recommended. Anyway, the walkways of the underwater platform essentially spiral around the central structure, and following it should bring you to the next data posts until you reach the bottom. You will encounter lots of enemy soldiers along the way as well as at the bottom. The objective is to capture a command post, which, again, is on the bottom level of the underwater platform (where you should also find the last data post.) Once you capture the command post, however, it will trigger a boss fight against the Vital Fortress, which is essentially a huge VS. It isn't too hard, but it will alternate between going around the structure at high speed and then strafing more slowly. When it slows down it will rain torpedoes and other ordinance down upon you. Make sure you have lots of explosives, such as rocket launchers, VS rocket launchers, and VS grenade launchers (of which there should be plenty lying around). There's a Triseed VS hidden on a platform below you, something that will make the fight much easier and giving you easy access to shoot at the side armor.

Periodically, enemy reinforcements will spawn in above. The VF will also use interdiction torpedoes which basically trap characters caught in them, shoot one of your teammates free when they're caught in it for a GJA. Once the VF has been defeated, the mission will end and you will unlock:

For this mission, you will begin on a Fastrey. Your goal is to capture the overland battleship ahead. The first thing you should do is to accelerate to catch up with the ship and land on the left so you can activate the first data post, using cn_R1 to adjust vertically. I typically then get back on the Fastrey and go over the right side and advance that way to the next data post, but you can advance along the left if you wish. Anyway, so the overland battleship will have LOTS of manned VS turrets, as well as some unmanned turrets positioned at the back of the ship. You goal is to enter the cargo hold and then activate the command post that opens up the back (thereby allowing your allies to board the ship). There will be lots of soldiers inside, as well as several enemy VSs. Try to clear the entire ship, then go from front to back opening all of the T-ENG containers scattered around. After opening 10 you will earn a Nom. Activating the command post that opens up the back of the ship ends the mission, make sure to emote when prompted.

In this mission you will spawn in the cargo hold of the overland battleship you successfully boarded in mission one. The goal here is to activate and hold two command posts simultaneously for a certain amount of time in order to gain control of the ship. Said command posts are at opposite ends of the ship, however, and so it is best to do co-op on higher difficulties to make things easier for yourself. From where you begin, head up the ramp, take the doorway on the left, follow the connecting corridors around and you will come to some stairs with a room to the right. Capture the data post in the room to the right and then follow the stairs up. You will arrive on a floor with a few enemies, but there should be another flight of stairs that will lead to the first command post. If you head to the deck of the ship and head to the opposite end, you should find the room with the second command post with little difficulty. Once you have captured both and held them for 90 seconds, then the mission will end. If they get re-captured by the enemy soldiers, simply re-capture them to restart the timer. Try to keep one human player by each capture point to prevent the enemy from retaking it, as they spawn infinitely until time runs out.

Once you have killed the remaining enemy soldiers on board, enemy Ospreys will begin to approach the overland battleship from the rear. After a while, enemy soldiers will be dropped in behind you. Their goal is to open the cargo hold in the same way you did in chapter 1. If they succeed, you will fail the mission. Enemy VSs will start being air-dropped in as well. However, if you head to the cargo bay to manually protect the area yourself, then it will greatly improve your chances of success. Destroying Ospreys count as VS's if you need to destroy 7 with a specific weapon type. The mission will end when the enemy battle gauge has been depleted.

Find the Weak Spot! - After the boss Akrid staggers and collapses onto the Battleship, climb up one of its limbs and find the weak spot on its back.

Get Those [?] Boxes! - Collect 10 [?] boxes that the boss Akrid drops when it dies.

In this mission, you will have to hold off against an assault from a Cat-G Akrid. However, now that the overland battleship is fully in your command, you now have access to the thermal cannon VS turret. The controls are simple, press cn_R2 once will put the turret into charge mode. In this mode, it is possible for other players to charge the cannon with thermal energy by shooting T-ENG into the muzzle (this will only work while the turret is in charge mode). Press cn_R2 again to fire, and it will fire a concentrated energy beam. The Cat-G will have four weak-spots, one on each leg at the area where the knees would be. Once you have done enough damage, the Cat-G will collapse onto the ship. From here, grapple onto the Cat-G, run up the leg, and you will find a weak spot on its back. Shoot away and the mission will end once its health has been depleted. The energy beam cannon turret will once again be at your disposal, as will several turret VSs. However, the enemy ship also has a cannon, which needs taking care of. Enter into charge mode and wait until their cannon also enters charge mode. Once it has done so, one good, concentrated beam on-target should do the trick and knock it out. You can then destroy pieces of the enemy ships armour at your leisure (although the enemy cannon will be repaired once and therefore will need taking out a second time). Once the enemy battleship has taken enough damage, and all wings have been shot off it will pull up alongside you and enemy soldiers will board yours. Board their ship and activate their command post in the cargo hold and keep it under your control for a minute. Keep a teammate by your own control point, as losing it will cause mission failure. Once you have done this, the enemy will activate their ship's self-destruct, so return to your ship. The enemy ship will explode, and the mission will end, earning you:

Get Back to the Shuttle! - Complete the mission with no casualties.

Team Cheer - All 4 players must emote at the same time when prompted.

This is probably the easiest and shortest of all the missions. You will begin on a space shuttle, and your goal is to take control over it. Progress forward and kill the enemy soldiers. You will also probably have to deal with some Akrid too, as there are some in tanks and they nearly almost always get ruptured by stray fire. Anyway, once the least enemy is dead, a cutscene will trigger in which you are ejected into space. When you regain control, use your rocket boosters (by jumping) to reach the space shuttle. There's a Nom for dying 5 times in this area by falling off the ship back to the planet. Once on board, activating the panel that closes the cargo bay will end the mission.

Episode 6: Chapter 1: Mission 2

GJ award: Destroy the VSs! - Destroy all enemy piloted Vital Suits in this mission.

This mission occurs on the outside area of an orbital space weapon platform, so there is low gravity once again. Moreover, you can also fall to your death, so watch out. The goal of this mission is to reach the inside. Unfortunately, a small army of enemy soldiers, unmanned turrets, manned VS turrets, and enemy VSs stand in between you and the mission exit. You can either bum rush to the exit, which is over to the far right, on the other side of the weapons platform, or you can take your time. There is a data post immediately where you start, and another one immediately ahead underneath some unmanned turrets. Use the turrets here to clear out the VS's in your way, as well as the VS weapons/ The space weapons platform is divided into two halves, with a big gap in the middle. You can jump the gap without falling to your doom, so go for it. Once on the other side, the exit will be up a slope to the left, but this side will be crawling with enemy VSs blocking your way. There's a T-ENG container down a hallway with a Triseed to make things a bit easier on your way around the complex. If you want to go for kills, try for 12 enemies after using your jetpack thrusters for another award. Once you reach the exit, the mission will end.

Episode 6: Chapter 2: Mission 1

GJ awards:

Break Through the Defences! - Complete the mission with no casualties.

Fight Off Enemy VSs! - Destroy all enemy piloted Vital Suits in this mission.

Find the T-ENG Charger - The T-ENG charger is very close to the first data post.

In this mission you will have to find and activate all five data posts in order to gain access to the control booth for the orbital space laser you are currently inside. It should be noted that, once you have activated the first of these, said space laser will begin test firing. Meaning, if you hang around too long in the middle, then there is a good chance you will get obliterated. You'll need that to happen to you 5 times for a Nom. From where you begin, jump down the shaft and continue into the passage ahead. Deal with the enemies here and continue forward and you will basically arrive the inner housing of the massive space laser you need to gain control of. You will find a circular pit leading to lower levels. The first data post will be down there somewhere, as will be half a dozen enemy soldiers or so. Activate the data post and quickly escape back up to avoid being fried by the cannon's test firing sequences. On the platform above the post will be the T-ENG charger you need to find for the award. Keep moving up the structure to find the next data post and so on until you reach the very top. There will be a number of unmanned turrets and fast VS's trying to knock you back down as you make your ascent. The final data post will be on a landing that leads right up to the control booth area, guarded by soldiers with heavy VS weapons. Said area only becomes accessible once you have activated all five data posts. Once you reach the top, head to the control booth to end the mission.

Episode 6: Chapter 2: Mission 2

GJ awards:

Protect the VSs! - Do not allow any of your Vital Suits to be destroyed.

Time Challenge: Destroy the Enemy VSs! - Complete the mission in 7 minutes.

For this mission, you will simply have to hold off against a bunch of enemy VSs, culminating in a boss fight against a larger version of the merged VS. There are plenty of decent VSs lying around, as well as a plethora of VS weaponry, so you should have no difficulty whatsoever. Once the boss Brockati VS has been destroyed, the mission will end.

Episode 6: Chapter 3: Mission 1

GJ awards: This mission has no GJ awards

This mission consists simply of a free-fall in space in your VS. Simply blast stuff in your path. Nothing to collect.

Episode 6: Chapter 3: Mission 2

GJ awards:

Activate All the Data Posts! - Self explanatory, but tricky due to poor visibility. There are 7 Data Posts in this mission. The Host will always spawn at Data Post 1. The other three players will spawn at Data Posts 3, 5, and 7. DP2 is north of DP1, DP4 is north of DP3, and DP6 is north and a little east of DP5.

Fight Off the Akrid! - Kill at least 16 Akrid in this mission.

This mission has very low visibility, but each character spawns next to a data post. The goal of this mission is to find an outpost in the middle of the snow field. There's a number of medium Akrid buried in the snow if you need to kill 7 with a specific weapon. Activate data posts to bring up the map, then wander around until you find the remaining 5 posts. Kill the Akrid along the way until you get to 16. After activating the posts and killing enough Akrid head for the objective marker and make a mad dash for the outpost when you see it.

Episode 6: Chapter 3: Mission 3

GJ awards:

Endure the Akrid Siege! - Complete the mission with no casualties.

Defeat the Category G! - Kill both boss Akrid that spawn at the end of the mission.

For the first half of this mission, you have to hold off against waves of Akrid. There are plenty of weapons, numerous VS turrets, and a data post. Once you have killed enough, you will get a notification telling you to head to the Over G area. However, as you approach you will be attacked by two Cat-G Akrid, a pair of Undeep worms. There are multiple VS's and weapons to dig out of the snow to make it easier, but these guys are much less obnoxious than they were in the first game. Strafe around them in a VS and shoot at the spots on their sides, after destroying enough they will die and allow you to exit the area.

Episode 6: Chapter 4: Mission 1-11

GJ awards for missions 1-10:

Wear Down the Enemy! - Kill all Akrid in this mission.

Close Up Akrid Breeding Grounds! - Kill all Over G spheres in this mission.

GJ awards for mission 11:

Begin Mission "Safe Return!" -

Attach the GPS! - Each player must damage part of the Over G until they can grapple onto it with their Anchor and then press cn_B to attach a GPS. It is important that you attach the GPS while you are still attached to the Over G.

Hurry! - Complete the mission in 15 minutes or less.

This is where things get a little confusing, as the final chapter consists of 11 different areas, but you have to play through multiple times in order to beat them all. This is because there are multiple paths to take and different paths take you to different areas. The only area you will play the same in each playthrough will be the first and the last (as the last is the boss fight against the Over G). In each area, you will have to fight tons of Akrid, as well as Over G spheres. The spheres are the absolute worst part of this game, their lava ball attacks kill you instantly on every difficulty besides Easy and they are massive bullet sponges.

The area you start in will always be the same, consisting of a number of large hives and Medium Akrid. Take these out with whatever you have to hand until you get both awards, then move onto area 2.

Area 2 is where the first major deviation occurs, but to get the awards you still need to clear out all the hives, Akrid, and 3 spheres. There are some more powerful weapons around here, like VS rockets and grenades. Once you get the awards you have the choice to proceed through the building exit that was guarded by the 2 spheres or the right exit which was guarded by one.

Area 3A is the path through the building. Destroy the hives here and drop down with your grapple to take out the Akrid below while hanging off for a Nom. Once the area is cleared out and you got your awards, progress into the open area a bit. The Fight Junkies will crash into the side of the hive with the cannon, and you'll be able to control them to clear out the hives and Akrid below. Once that happens you will be put back in control of the NEVEC team, clear out the area for the awards and face your next choice...

Area 3B is the result of going right in area 2. You'll be brought to the same area as 3A, but without the help of the Junkies. The area is large and encapsulates both this narrow alley and the large field to the left, with a Sphere to fight in place of the Junkies helping you. Clear the entire area, and you will have the same choice to make...

Area 4A is the result of going all the way left from area 3. You start in a cavern above some hives, drop down and run around the circular crater to take them out. 2 Spheres will pop up in this room, so destroy them as well.

Area 4B is the result of going all the way right from area 3. You start off above a pit of thermal lava, with Akrid nests below you. After clearing them out a G Sphere will arise from the center crater. After destroying it, another will pop out of the wall. Once this area is clear, move through the open hole.

Area 4C is the result of grappling into the center building and destroying a wall after the first hallway to access a secret exit. This leads to a small room containing a plethora of weapons as well as a few G Spheres attacking from above. Clearing them out opens the route to the final area.

Area 5A is the area after 4A, and is rather tough. No small Akrid here, but 4 G Spheres will appear from the craters in the ground. After wiping them out, exit to the boss toom.

Area 5B is accessed after 4B automatically. You start off with a G Sphere spawning behind you, so be sure to turn around and destroy it immediately. Another one will spawn at the opposite end of the area, so destroy it before taking out the hives scattered around the walls. Exiting this area takes you to the boss.

Once you reach the final area, you will have to grapple up and run along a path to reach the main Over G area. Simply shoot one of the Over G spheres until it lowers to the ground. Grapple onto it and press cn_O to place a homing beacon. The more players there are, the more beacons you will need to place. If you are playing solo, then one will suffice. If you have a full party of 4, then each player will need to place a beacon on one sphere for a total of four beacons placed. Make sure to not mash cn_O, just tap it once. Otherwise you'll melee while still inside the Over G and die. Once all beacons have been placed the orbital space laser will shoot it. Some time later, the mission will end on its own as the space laser crashes into the Over G, finally killing it. Completing this level will unlock:

Depending on what difficulty that you played you will also unlock one of these trophies. These trophies do not stack, so you'll need at least 4 playthroughs of the game:

So now the grind continues. Spin the slots, unlock new weapons, and go through the game another 3 times on each difficulty, mopping up any campaign awards or Noms.

When you're playing through the campaign pay attention to which chapters you find the easiest or are the fastest. Whether you decide to go for easiest or fastest is up to you. The beginning chapters tend to be easier while Chapter 6-1 is the fastest, but very boring. Check the next pages for information on specific Noms and GJA's, since you can go back and use chapter select to do them in any order you wish.

Once you've beaten the game once, you can select which faction character to play as for the whole game, thereby accruing points for said factions. It does mean replaying the game until you're level 99 with each, but you need a total of 300 chapters played, as well as the points you will earn from multiplayer boosting. Along the way you will earn:

While going for the 300 chapters you'll be playing Episode 6 Chapter 1 on Easy a lot, and after a few more runs after beating the game on Easy you'll get:

Since it's not necessary to do this in co-op, you'll soon eventually unlock:

Now onto multiplayer!
