2. LEGO The Lord of the Rings (Vita) General hints and tipsUpdate notes

  • If you have played a LEGO game before, you know they are a very easy game to pick up and play. The game guides you through the controls as you play, so there are no worries with controls or how to interact with most objects.
  • While most of the game flows and functions well, there is one thing to note that is highly inconvenient and, quite honestly, very frustrating. When you load up a level in Free-Play, the auto-generated list of Free-Play characters won't always satisfy the requirements to interact with all the objects in the level. For example, sometimes the game leaves off important characters such as Gimli or Legolas. Other times, it gives you an early version of a character, so certain functions such as Gimli's smash attack to break apart cracked objects won't be available until you manually add in the needed character.
  • To manually change characters, hit one of the shoulder buttons to change a character. This will bring up a listing of the characters you currently have available to use. If you look at the right end of the characters, you should see a shield. Pressing on the shield icon using the touch screen will bring up a listing of all characters in the game. You can thing select a character. If the character has more variations (special abilities gained later in the level), then you'll have more options to select.
  • You don't have to walk all the way across Middle-Earth to get to another hub level. If you hit SELECT, a map of Middle-Earth will appear. You can then use the touch screen to click on one of the gray circles to highlight that particular hub world. Clicking on it again will warp you to that hub level.
  • Purchase the 2X Stud Multiplier as soon as you can. Doing this early before you start your way through Free-Play will save you time by avoiding more than two playthroughs.
