4. LEGO Dimensions (PS3) Story walkthroughUpdate notes

Note: Credit for the Minikit locations in the main game go to Happythumbsgaming, who was kind enough to agree to me using his locations.

Once the game is loaded up and the portal is plugged in, you will be in a little area. This is what will be known as the vortex; you can use Gandalf, Batman and Wyldstyle here. You will have build the portal in-game using the manual that comes up on screen. Once you have built the portal and jumped through, you will unlock your first trophy:

Level 1: Follow the LEGO Brick Road (Wizard of Oz)

Level Minikits:

1) After breaking open and getting past the wagon, head to the far left, off the road and you will see three boxes. Use Wyldstyle to detect the hidden Lego bricks and then use batman to pull the grapple hook and grab the Minikit.

2) After jumping over the broken bridge with the Batmobile, turn around and break the statue of the witch in the left corner. (1/5) Head up the path a little more and there will be another statue on the right side to break. (2/5) Head up the path a little further and on the left will be another statue to destroy. (3/5) Continue up the path and there will be another statue on the right to destroy. (4/5) Continue along the path and just in front of the drawn up bridge will be the last statue. (5/5)

The first level is based on the Wizard of Oz. Now, if you have bought the Wicked Witch or someone capable of blowing up silver, then when the level starts, walk backwards towards the screen. Here is a secret area with lots of blue and purple studs, perfect for "stud farming". Otherwise, make your way through the level. Once you get to the end and defeat the witch, you will unlock:

In the Vorton area, there are lots of hubs for different areas. They are only accessible with the correct characters. With the starter pack, only three areas will be accessible. These are:

Gandalf - Mordor - Lord Of The Rings. In this area, the red brick is almost in front of you; you have to chase something. When you get close enough to it, you will unlock the only multiplier in the game which is the 2x.

Batman - Gotham - DC Universe.

Wyldstyle - Bricksville - The Lego Movie.

Entering one of these will unlock:

Entering and exiting all three areas will unlock:

You will see a purple and white semi-circle while walking around hubs. These are races; completing one of these will unlock:

You can complete the same race four more times to unlock:

Whilst in the hubs, there will be random people asking you to complete a task for them. Once you do one of these, you will unlock:

To earn Gold bricks, you have lots of ways to do this:

1x Completing a level

1x Earning True Studs

1x Completing Races in hubs

1x Completing Renovations in hubs.

Once you have earned five gold bricks, you will earn:

Renovations require a certain amount of studs. These are located throughout hubs; just pay the amount of studs required for one hub to unlock:

Taking the tube trophy is very easy. All you have to do is jump in to the portal 20 times. Once you have done this you will unlock:

Level 2: Meltdown at Sector 7-G (The Simpsons)

Level Minikits:

3) While free falling, there will be 5 birds to destroy that will get you a Minikit. The first platform you land on will have two flying around you can shoot. The second platform will have two more you can shoot; one flying around and the second will be on the platform that you raise with the terminal on it. The third platform will have another one flying around that you can shoot.

4) During the boss battle with Joker, jump over the fire on the left side and push the silver tower under the AC unit, then jump up and grab the Minikit.

The next trophy will unlock at the end of the level:

The forever alone trophy can be a little misleading. You can only have one person on the portal at any one time; if you need to swap character because of a puzzle, take off the person that is on the portal before putting the new person on it. This is because if it registers two people on it at one time, the trophy voids for that try. I did this on the second level, "Chroma Simpson". I recommend doing this on either the first or second level because further through the game, you will need more than one person on at a time.

Provided you swap out correctly, this will unlock at the end of the level:

  • Forever Alone

Complete a level while only ever keeping one character active on the Toy Pad

    Forever Alone
Offline Mode - These trophies require play in game modes that do not require a connection to any live services, such as Play Station Network.Single Player - These trophies can be obtained by a single player.External Content - These trophies require content outside the game or input devices other than the system default.

Shift mode is a puzzle type found in the game. Once you have done this puzzle 50 times, you will unlock:

Level 3: Elements of Surprise (Ninjago)

Level Minikits:

5) At the very start of the level, in the top right corner, is a door that you need a Model 2 Batmobile to open. Tear down the wall and the Minikit will be inside.

The next trophy will unlock at the end of the level:

Level 4: A Dalektable Adventure (Doctor Who)

Level Minikits:

None

The next trophy will unlock at the end of the level:

Level 5: Painting the Town Black (DC Comics)

Level Minikits:

6) After you take down the first purple barricade on the right, in front of you will be an orange truck on its side. Destroy the truck, then use the Batmobile to drive up the ramp and take out the tower.

7) Head to the far left and you will see an armored truck that Gandalf can open, hit the keystone and go through the pink portal to find the Minikit.

8) Drive through the barricade with all the archers on it and take the first right, head all the way down to the end and then head towards the screen. On the right you will see a wire going down into a sewer, break the Lego pieces to the right of it and build the Batarang target for a Minikit.

By the end of each of the previous four levels, you will have collected a keystone. It is story related and you won't have to search for it. The fifth keystone will be found in level 5 and will unlock before the trophy for completing the level.

This trophy will unlock at the end of the level after defeating a mini boss, after the keystone trophy:

Level 6: Once Upon A Time Machine in the West (Back to the Future)

Level Minikits:

9) When you start, in front of the Kwik-E-Mart on the left is a wooden barricade to destroy. (1/5) On the other side of the area, by the save terminal, is the second one. (2/5) After you head through the Kwik-E-Mart, the next one is on the left. (3/5) The last two are after you get over the carrier ship, they will both be on the right. (4/5) (5/5)

10) After you get over the carrier ship, in the back right corner will be a grapple point for Batman. Head up and down the path to find the Minikit.

11) After getting taken to the top of Town Hall, on the right will be a bunch of items that you need Gandalf to get out of your way. After clearing the path follow it around and you will eventually clear some boxes to find a Batarang symbol. Hit it for the Minikit.

Completing this level will earn you:

Before doing all the upgrades and paint color changes, you may need to farm some studs. To upgrade the Batmobile to model 2 and 3 and to purchase both paint jobs, you will need a total of 2,360,000 studs. That is no easy feat as we only have the 2x multiplier red brick in this game. This is why you need to buy that brick as soon as you earn 1,000,000 studs.

To upgrade to Model 2, you will have to buy ten upgrades. Each upgrade will cost you 15,000 studs. After you have spent the 150,000 studs on the ten upgrades, you will have to unlock the second set for 10,000 studs as well. Once you do that, the trophy will only unlock once you have saved the Model 2 to the toy tag. To do that simply highlight the second model and hit and it will save to the toy tag. Once it's saved, the trophy will unlock.

To upgrade the Batmobile to Model 3, each upgrade will cost you 20,000 studs. You will have to unlock the third model for 10,000 studs as well. Once you do that, the trophy will again only unlock once you have saved the Model 3 to the toy tag. To do that simply highlight the third model and hit and it will save to the toy tag. Once it's saved, the trophy will unlock.

You cannot unlock the paint colors until you have upgraded the Batmobile to Model 3. Once you have done this and have 1,000,000 studs, you can then change the colour to pink to unlock:

Now your Batmobile is pink. If you have saved up your studs you can buy the chrome and apply it; it will cost another 1,000,000 studs. Once applied you will unlock:

By now, you should also have 30 gold bricks. If you don't, don't worry; you will have 30 by the end of the story. This is just where I earned the trophy.

You will need lots of studs for the next trophy. Pop into the different hubs available to you and purchase the renovations available. Obviously, if you only have the starter pack, there will only be three hubs. This is fine as there is four renovations in the Lego Movie hub, six in the DC Universe hub and eight in the Lord of the Rings hub which makes eighteen. You only need to complete fifteen of them to unlock:

Level 7: GLaD to See You (Portal 2)

Level Minikits:

12) In the second level, in the middle of the room will be two doors. The left one you will open as part of the story but the right one you can use Wyldstyle to reveal a Batarang symbol. Climb up the agility wall inside to grab the Minikit.

13) After meeting Wheatley you will have to open a pipe to escape, instead jump towards the screen, in front of the pipe, and you will see a platform. Use Wyldstyle to reveal a Batarang symbol, once you hit it the Minikit is yours.

14) In test chamber 9 you will have to reveal the yellow plate by shrinking down and going through a hole in the wall in the back. After you gain access to the yellow platform, use Gandalf to clear the blockage and grab the Minikit.

This trophy is unlocked upon completion of the Portal level. I'd say, take in what you're doing during this level, as there is a trophy for completing the level within 25 minutes. Don't worry about that for now as you will need to practice the level a couple of times, getting used to the puzzles. It is quite a big level with a lot of puzzles to learn and practice.

Completing the level will unlock:

Level 8: Riddle-Earth (Lord of the Rings)

Level Minikits:

15) After you open up the tower with the Batmobile and the keystone comes out, use Wyldstyle to jump up the wall inside and grab the Minikit.

16) After you enter the second area underneath the stairs will be a purple box with a green question mark on top of it. (1/5) Follow the bottom wall and you will see the second one tucked in a corner. (2/5) The third one is on the fountain in the middle of the area. (3/5) The fourth one is on the top right ledge in the back right of the area. (4/5) The last one is to the left of the stairs that are being blocked by the big green barrier. (5/5)

17) In the same area as the riddle boxes there will be three doors that you will have to go through to progress with the story. Go through the big middle door and head around to the far right. At the end of the path you will see Brainiac but instead at the beginning of the path you will see some Lego bricks to break and rebuild. Use Batman to grapple to the top and break the boxes at the end for the Minikit.

The next trophy will unlock at the end of the level:

Level 9: The Phantom Zone (Ghostbusters)

Level Minikits:

18) At the start of the level in the front left corner is a ghostbuster sign you can destroy. (1/5) After breaking through the wall of cars, in the back right corner there will be a sign hidden in the corner. (2/5) Continue following the road until you see a closed DOCK gate on your left, in front of the gate is the sign. (3/5) The next sign is down the road to the right from the last one, in the bottom right corner. (4/5) When you come to the area with the flying police vehicle shooting at you, the sign will be in the bottom right corner of the area. (5/5).

19) At the start of the level at the top middle of the screen you will see a garbage truck with a grapple point on the back, pull it for a Minikit.

The next trophy will unlock at the end of the level:

Level 10: All Your Bricks Are Belong To Us (Midway Arcade)

Level Minikits:

None.

The next trophy will unlock at the end of the level:

By now, you should have done 25 Chroma puzzles. If you haven't, don't worry, you will certainly earn this by playing the "GLaD To See You" level a few times practicing for the timed trophy. this will earn you:

An elemental puzzle is where you get to use water, electric, fire or grass. There are plenty of chances to use these throughout the story. Doing this 25 times will unlock:

Level 11: Mystery Mansion Mash Up (Scooby Doo)

Level Minikits:

20) At the start of the level there will be three owls outside of the house that you can shoot, the first is to the left of the house on the little greenhouse. (1/3) The second is way up on the left side of the house, stand at the top of the stairs where you spawn and you should be able to hit it. (2/3) The last one is on the shack to the right of the house. (3/3).

21) Once inside the mansion to the left of the stairs and in front of the fire place will be a bunch of Lego pieces you can break and then put back together. Build them into the clock by the stairs and use Gandalf to spin the clock hands for the Minikit.

The next trophy will unlock at the end of the level:

  • Zoinks!

Level 12: Prime Time

Level Minikits:

22) After you hit the platform that flies you across the area, turn around and use Wyldstyle to reveal a chest with the Minikit in it.

23) At the very end of the level, during the boss battle, in the back left corner will be another door with three grapple points that you need a Model 2 Batmobile to access. Pull open the door and grab the Minikit.

The next trophy will unlock on completion of the level:

Level 13: The End is Tri

Level Minikits:

24) After you turn off the electricity, jump on the newly available platform and head to the right. High above you will be a rock that you can shoot and break open. Pull the grapple point to grab the Minikit.

25) After you arrive in Middle Earth head to the back right corner and you will see a grapple point, pull it then use Wyldstyle to climb the wall and grab the Minikit.

26) After you climb up the wheel head over the right and there will be a cave you need Gandalf to light up, inside is the Minikit.

27) During the fight with the Tri there will be 5 flying monkeys flying around above you. Shoot all five of them and the Minikit is yours.

The next trophy will unlock at the end of the level:

Level 14: The Final Dimension

Level Minikits:

28) After Vortech traps you for the second time forcing you to move the character you are playing as around the toy pad, there will be a Minikit floating towards you at the bottom of the screen. If you land on him the second time you’ve missed it.

29) After the Doctor gives Vortech a little push and you land on solid ground, head to the front right corner. Use Batman’s Grapple hook to get to the top and break the statue. This is the final level in the game, where you will face the main boss. Once you defeat them and finish the level, you will unlock two trophies:

Provided you've been following the guide to this point, you should have collected all 30 Minikits as well, earning:

I now suggest going back and attempting to complete "GLaD to See You" in under 25 minutes. While attempting this, it took me a couple of tries and I unlocked the 25 locating puzzles trophy at the same time:

Once you beat the time, you'll pick up your final two trophies of the game:

Congratulations on your relatively easy Lego Dimensions Platinum! I hope this guide was helpful to you. If you've bought any of the DLC Story Packs, continue to the next page to find a guide on how to earn all the trophies in each pack.
