From start to finish, Batman: Arkham Asylum is an amazingly fun game. The plot in itself was just so insane that I had to get it: During a routine trip of bringing an escaped Joker back to justice, a bunch of Batman's greatest (and most widely familar) foes have taken over the nut house they all reside in and are holding the staff hostage. While there's nothing particularly innovative about the game's approach to fighting in general, the boss battles are very versitle. Many of them do not simply involve trading blows with an insanely over powered boss (which some do btw)....hell, some just require you to survive the encounter, which is way more interesting than it sounds. The villians are what really made the game interesting to play. The story was decent but far from anything compelling and can easily be ignored without effecting the fun factor. The majority of the bonus features can be unlocked by collecting the Riddler's Trophies and solving the many riddles he has scattered across the island...which in itself is pretty fun to do as well. Playing as the Joker in the Challenge modes is fun for awhile but its nothing that really makes or breaks the experience of playing the game.

    My Breakdown:

    What's Good:

    - Graphics
    - Characters
    - Fighting
    - Boss Battles
    - Collecting Riddler's Trophies and solving riddles gives sense of exploration
    - Great Bonus Content
    - Great array of weapons and gadgets synonomis to Batman
    - High replay value

    What's Not-So-Good:

    - The story was ok but nothing extraordinary
    - The game can often be vague about what to do in certain situations
    - The game does really do anything "new" or unexpected as far as gameplay

    What's Bad:

    - Nothing that has the ability to ruin the experience

In all, if you can't enjoy Batman: Arkham Asylum then action games in general may not be your forte. It's a great game for solid action and fun that retains its value even after it's initial completion. I can't wait to play Arkham City when its released!
