Assassin's Creed II (Ezio Collection) | Sequence 13: Bonfire of the Vanities

Memory 01: Florentine Fiasco

Now that you've traced Savonarola's position to Florence, enter the city and meet Machiavelli on a bridge outside the Oltrarno District. He'll explain to you that Savonarola has used the Apple to subdue several people to serve as his lieutenants to control the people. Ezio will get the idea to cause an uprising, since the citizens aren't being controlled by the Apple but rather by fear, the assassins can take that fear and turn it into anger to overthrow Savonarola.

Now that you've got your plan out of the way, you'll be sent all across the Oltrarno District to kill all of Savonarola's lieutenants. You can go about them in any order you please, but you'll probably want to find the viewpoints for this district first. Look for one on the palace you end this memory in front of.

Memory 02: Still Life

An insane artist has started piling books and other works of art and setting them on fire. You don't need to remain incognito to reach him unlike many of the other lieutenants, but he'll flee if he catches you. Try to kill as many soldiers as you can by luring them away from the artist so you have a clearer shot to kill him.

Memory 03: Climbing the Ranks

The guard captain has fallen under Savonarola's spell too. Hopefully you have Altaïr's equipment on you, because this memory can be quite challenging. Fight everyone that comes after you in the pit you start out in until they stop coming, and then toss throwing knives at all the archers you can. Then climb up to the captain. He'll run off into the rooftops; run up there after him and storm the one archer you can reach on the left. Kill him and stay in this position to prevent being hit by the other archer, and then keep killing more guards until you can safely take down the captain. Once he's defeated, you'll need to return to incognito status to finish the memory.

Memory 04: Upward Mobility

A nobleman will shout at you on the rooftops, and will start running towards Savonarola when the memory begins. Climb to the rooftop as fast as you can, and then simply chuck two throwing knives at the man to take him down. If you're fast enough, this shouldn't take more than two minutes.

Memory 05: Last Rites

A priest is next, and he's at the top of Il Duomo. Climb it from the backside so you run in to fewer soldiers on your way up, and then pounce on him when none of the guards next to him are looking.

Memory 06: Port Authority

This memory takes a bit of effort to get done. You need to assassinate the merchant on the ship while remaining undetected, so you need to take many extra steps to clear the area out. First, drop down one rooftop and double-air assassinate the two soldiers in front of the stairs. Then, jump down to the dock and hang on the left side with your back facing the stairs so you can ledge assassinate the guard walking around here. Once he's taken care of, all the remaining enemies will be on the ship.

Jump onto the ship and crawl around to the backside. Two soldiers will periodically walk back and forth between the end of the ship and the middle; ledge assassinate them both while remaining unseen by the other. When they're in the water, stand on the ship's frame and grab the attention of two more guards that walk back and forth (they'll be further down the ship). You'll want to bring them to the same ledge so you can toss them into the water as well. When all of these guys are dead, double assassinate the two in front of the ship's wheel and then drop down from there onto the merchant. Return to incognito status to end the memory.

Memory 07: Surgical Strike

A doctor is the next target. You'll need to get to him undetected, which isn't actually too hard to pull off. Make your way to the crowd in front of the doctor and wait for a group of monks to walk next to the crowd on the right side. Follow them behind the doctor and sit on a bench to blend in once again, and wait for the spearman back here to walk left. When he does, follow him left and get behind the doctor to make your kill. Once he's dead, return to incognito status to finish the memory.

Memory 08: Hitting the Hay

This memory is another tricky one. A farmer is hoarding all of his hay because he feels farmers don't get the respect they deserve, which is apparently an idea punishable by death. Air assassinate the guard on the rooftop just below you to the north, then jump in the hay bale west of you and kill the guard walking around it. When the coast is clear, run to the hay bale to the north and hide in there, then sneak up on the farmer when the time is right. If you're lucky, the farmer will see you enter the hay bale and will investigate, giving you a free chance to assassinate him. Return to incognito status to end the memory.

Memory 09: Arch Nemesis

A rather rich-looking man has taken the bridge here for himself and is surrounded by archers. Stick to his side of the rooftops (or go on the other side to kill the archers there) and kill everyone you can until you can reach him, hopefully without alerting him directly. If you can pull this off, then you should be able to get a quick kill in to take this lieutenant down. The remaining archers will pelter you with arrows once you regain control of Ezio, so you may want to consider killing the archers on the opposite side of the bridge first. Return to incognito mode to finish the memory. An easy way to do this is to dive into the water below and hide under the bridge.

Memory 10: Doomsday

This last lieutenant is another priest, but this one preaches of the end of the world. Stay on the rooftops and take out as many people on the roofs as you can without alerting anyone on the ground. That way, you can reach the front of the church and drop down on the priest for a quick assassination. Return to incognito status to end the memory.

Memory 11: Power to the People

Now that all of Savonarola's lieutenants are dead, the people will revolt against him in front of his building. Before he can use the Apple of Eden, toss a throwing knife at his hand with a quicktime event. The people will take him away, but a soldier will nab the Apple in the confusion. Chase him down and kill him, preferably with throwing knives to make things easier.

Memory 12: Mob Justice

The mob will set Savonarola on fire; kill him before he burns to death, and watch what unfolds next.
