Arcade Archives MAT MANIA EXCITING HOUR, is an arcade port for the PS4. The game originally released in 1985 in japan as Exciting Hour developed by Technos Japan Corp.
The gameplay is really simple you only have two buttons for attack, you'll quickly see all the moves that you can perform, since you only have about a dozen different types of attacks.
Unfortunally they don't let you select a character and you are "Player1" and your goal is to become the T.W.A Champion.
The game has five "Heels" and each fighter has a unique moves set and requires different strategies to take them out.
Wrestlers who you must fight in order:
- Insane Warrior
- Karate Fighter
- Cocoa Savage
- The Pirania
- Golden Hulk
Golden Hulk is the champion and if you beat him in the title match, you will become the champion. After that, the game begins again.
Some tips & tricks:
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
- Throwing your opponent into the ropes and simply letting him run into you will allow you to pick him up off the mat and perform any move successfully. Repeat until the opponent has been beaten.
- Another Pattern that will give you a much higher score per match is by letting your opponent punch you once then dodge his attack by moving the player either up or down the ring and counter attack with two punches and dodge the opponent's attack. Repeat until the opponent becomes dizzy. Now is the time to take advantage and execute any two wrestling moves consecutively that require power such as body slam, brainbuster, piledriver or Irish whip. Note If you attempt a third consecutive move without repeating the pattern it will be unsucessful.
- Cocoa Savage is a bit tricky. The Dodge and Punch pattern will not be very effective with him since he will counter attack with a shoulder block. The best way to attack Cocoa Savage is to let him come close to the player and give him a taste of his own medicine with a running shoulder block. Wait for him to partially get up on one knee and then Shoulder Block him again. Repeat pattern until he is beaten. If you would like, before lowering the Boom on Cocoa Savage get him close to the turnbuckle and perform the last Shoulder Block followed by either two Brainbusters or Piledrivers and finally either two knee drops or somersaults off the top turn buckle, then go for the pin.
Worth picking up if you are either a fan of the game from the arcades, or if you are simply looking for a fun arcade style wrestling game.
