Arcade Archives Bubble Bobble is an arcade game by Taito, first released in 1986 and later ported to numerous home computers and game consoles. The player can move along platforms, as well as jump to those above and to the side, similar to most platform games. Each level is limited to a single screen, with no scrolling. The player can also blow bubbles. These can trap enemies, who are defeated if the bubble is then burst by the player's spiny back.
The true fun is still the ability to blow bubbles. These bubbles can be launch pads or to trap enemies. Enemies trapped in a bubble must be launched by jumping on them, where they will turn into fruit. Furthermore, power-ups sometimes float in bubbles. They include a lightning bolt, which flies out horizontally against enemies, the water that drags the player and enemies directly along the platforms and many other upgrades. Taking too much time to complete any level, will summon Baron Von Blubba, who will float around the screen trying to destroy the player.
