So no cross buy on the ps4 version then, ah well. Might have a quick blast of it on remote play to see how it plays on vita first.

Unfortunately, from what we can tell you are correct. Not entirely surprising I guess. This new version is based on the PS3 version while the PS4 version is a new edition of the game with different features.

I enjoyed what I played of the Apocalypse Edition. Haven't had much time to play though.
