    Great Op-Ed! clap

Like many others, I've jumped in to the new gen and am really hungry for good stuff to play. The Metro re-release is definitely something I'll be picking up since I didn't play the first one and am hesitant to play the second without having done so.

I don't mind remastered games or remakes since it means I have another chance to play the game for more trophies! laugh

    Thanks mate!
Metro has been haunting me for years! I keep renting it and never playing it. I can't wait for the remaster!

    Agreed!

I hope they will extend the HD remakes further down the catalog to classics like Tomba 1 & 2. Playstation Now should give us the opportunity to play those classics again but there are some games I'd like to specifically see get a graphical upgrade.

I am all for them myself. Haven't bought any of the retail remasters yet, just some of the indie titles but there are some people on PS4 who haven't played the PS3 at all and are now getting the chance to play some of the big games they missed out on, like The Last of Us.

I do think that there will only be a small window when they can be acceptable for strengthening the catalog so devs will need to jump on the chance while they can, because once the "next gen" games start to flow regularly, September onwards likely, not many people are gonna choose the remasters over brand new games and they will seem more like quick money grabs at that point.

For now, can God of War get another HD remastered super awesome collection, this time on PS4 wink, I will pay all the monies

I don't mind remakes at all. I was very happy to be able to re-play Prince of Persia trilogy, and first 3 Splinter Cell games on PS3.

I think The Last of Us Remastered is quite a good move for the PS4. Many people just joined Sony with next-gen, so they weren't able to play the Last of Us on PS3. And it's a good way to quickly release a great game on PS4 while there are still not many other good games scheduled.

I pre-ordered TLOU the second I had the opportunity to. The price seems very reasonable to me (considering it costs about he same as a new version of the PS3 version and season pass) and it's an excuse to chase a plat I didn't have time to chase last year!

Yeah, I'd buy God of War again, just not Ascension. I've not played a game that boring in a long time!

I would love to see an Onimusha HD Collection. Onimusha Blade Warriors HD as well.

Completely agree! I loved those games.

I also quite enjoy HD remasters or these revamped games for the now-not-so-next-gen consoles. While I can't say that I'm all that interested in playing TLOU again, I can imagine it'll look absolutely stunning! Plus, it's just a phenomenal game.

I find that those who seem to get upset over these re-releases seem to believe, or give the impression that they believe, they're forced to replay them. I think that's the main issue I have with the gaming community - so many people act as if they're forced to complete games (or game modes within a game), rather than acknowledge that they're actively choosing to grind through something in favor of achievements/trophies. It's the same mentality in regards to these re-releases. It makes little sense.

KH 1.5 was pretty impressive as well.

I actually want to pick up Silent Hill HD sometime. I'd love to play 2 & 3, never played 3. That's what I like about HD Collection's if you never got around to playing them on the last gen you can always get 'em on the next gen. ^_^
I own some HD versions of some PS2 games, really need to get around to getting Sly & God of War. I think my favorite HD Collection so far was KH 1.5 :D

HD remakes are only worth it, if the titles are old enough. I liked the God of War ones ,but felt that the upcoming Last of us is just a money grabbing scheme. Tomb raider was also a let down that I played on the Xbox One. I would pay $60 for the Next Gen version of the Mass Effect Trilogy bundled with all the DLC for the 3 games however.

I'm still loving the "turd in the punchbowl" line.

I don't mind HD remakes, but I wish they would add a seperate list of new achievements/trophies to give more replay-ability to the game.

One of my main reasons in moving to PS4 from X360 was that I knew there would be sequels or remakes of Microsoft and Sony Exclusives and since I hadn't played any games on PS3 before I would much rather play remakes of PS3 games on the PS4 than another Halo game.

We also have to remember that not all gamers are as old as us. I'm in my late 30's and must have played thousands of games in my lifetime but for the new kids just starting they will have missed out on many older classic games if it were not for 'HD versions'

Besides its being going on for as long as I can remember. How many versions of Street Fighter can you name? I remember playing Street Fighter II in the arcades back in 1991 and they are still making that series, and don't get me started on the sports series such as the Fifa games.

Late 30's? Man! You could have been that big kid that kept whooping my ass at SFII and MK at the arcade!
    Good old days!

I always forget that aspect of it. The fact that many gamers are young or the older one's like us are having kids and have nephews and nieces to share games with. I'm in my mid 20's myself and remember experiencing classic PS1 and N64 games that without playing I would have never found my love for Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, and some great star wars games.
