Here are the main details about the Winter Olympics 2018 event.

Event Details
- The event runs from 10am Thursday 8th February UTC to Monday 10am 26th February UTC
- Registration is open now, and you can register throughout the event until 10am Sunday 25th February UTC
- Anyone can enter, as long as they are registered on the site and have Full tracking
- Challenge Leaderboards and registration details are on the Winter Olympics 2018

Valid Trophies
Trophies only count for the event if they are:
- Won online
- Not challenges
- In games rather than apps

Event Challenges
The event is comprised of 9 different trophy-related challenges. 6 of the challenges are revealed now, with a further 3 challenges to be revealed at 10am 16th February UTC.

Two of the challenges run throughout the entire duration of the event, and will be automatically tracked without you having to do anything to start them (apart from register for the event). Those two challenges are:

Long Track Speed Skating
This challenge is for earning the most trophies during the entire duration of the event. It does not need to be manually started.

Ski Jumping
This challenge is for earning the trophy worth the most TrueTrophy score during the entire duration of the event. It does not need to be manually started.

The next 4 challenges have to be started manually from your personal Winter Olympic event hub - this is accessed from the tab with your GamerTag in on the Winter Olympic hub, or from the link on your Winter Olympic panel on your homepage.

Note: Only one of these challenges can be active at any time.

Giant Slalom
This challenge requires you to unlock 10 trophies that are consecutively above and then below a 2.00 ratio. To clarify:
- Trophy 1 - ratio below 2.00
- Trophy 2 - ratio of exactly 2.00 or above 2.00
- Trophy 3 - ratio below 2.00
- ...
- Trophy 10 - ratio of exactly 2.00 or above 2.00

The leaderboard will be ranked by the smallest cumulative difference between the trophies won and 2.00 - so the best possible score is 0.05.

Cross Country Skiing
This is trophy linking challenge - your first trophy can be anything you like, but your next trophy will need to start with the final letter of the first one. The next trophy will need to start with the final letter of that one, and so on.

The leaderboard will be ranked by the longest link of trophies.

Note: Only trophies that start AND end with characters A-Z will count for this. Trophies with accented characters or numerals as the first or last character will not count towards your chain.

Chair Lift
Unlock as many trophies as possible with ratios increasing by at least 0.4 from the previous trophy.

Start low, climb high! The leaderboard will be ranked by the person with the most trophies, and then the highest ratio in the event of a tie.

Biathlon
Spell the word BIATHLON using the first letter of trophy names, in order. The leaderboard is ranked by the highest TA ratio of the N trophy.

Trophies with accented characters or numerals as the first character will not count towards this challenge.

Curling
Earn 8 trophies with a cumulative TrueTrophy points total of 2018. The leaderboard is ranked by the person closest to 2018 (this could be +/-) and then by fastest to complete; ie:

Gamer 1: 2018 TT - Time 1 hour
Gamer 2: 2000 TT - Time 2 hours
Gamer 3: 2036 TT - Time 3 hours

Speed Skating
Earn as many Bronze trophies as possible within 2 hours - this will activate AFTER clicking the start challenge button and only trophies earned within this two hours that are Bronze will count.

After the two hours is up you can click the end challenge button to officially complete the challenge and appear on the leaderboard.

The leaderboard is ranked by the person with the most Bronze trophies earned within their two hour time period.

Half Pipe
Unlock 10 trophies, the first with the lowest ratio possible, the next with the highest ratio possible, and so on - the goal is to attain the highest cumulative total of ratio difference.

Trophy 1: 1.0 ratio
Trophy 2: 5.0 ratio - total difference is now 4.0
Trophy 3: 2.0 ratio - total difference is now 7.0
Trophy 4: 9.0 ratio - total difference is now 14.0
etc..

The leaderboard is ranked by the person with the largest difference and then by fastest to complete.

Invalid Trophies
If you have a challenge running and unlock an trophy that does not meet the requirements (so an trophy starting with the wrong letter in the Biathlon or Cross Country Skiing, an trophy the "wrong side" of the 2.00 gate in the Giant Slalom, or an trophy of an insufficiently high ratio in the Chair Lift, the trophy will not count but you will not be penalised for it. The challenge will just continue with the next trophy that IS valid.

Repeating Challenges
You only have one attempt at each challenge - please do not start them until you are ready to go.

Badges
Participating in the event adds to the colour of your Community Events badge. This is not a Community Challenge and will not count towards that badge.

Final Three Challenges Reveal
The rules for the final three challenges will be revealed 10am 16th February UTC.

Winners Panel
The top 3 in each event will receive a panel on their homepage showing off their medals!

Good Luck!

Okay, so reading the rules on the first page for "Chair Lift", I just want to clarify:

It won't disqualify you and make you restart the challenge if you don't get an achievement that's 0.4 or greater after unlocking your first one, but the challenge will continue on when I do unlock the next achievement with 0.4 or greater and continue on from there?

Correct, you can earn any trophies you want between, but only those that are 0.4 or higher than the previous will actually be attributed to the challenge. smile

Hi - this Olympics 2018 challenge is a great idea, and I am having a lot of fun earning trophies because of it!

I just started the Curling challenge last night, and I had everything prepared to get 2018 exactly. Two of the biggest trophies to get me there were for Velocity 2x, and I knew it would take a lot of hard work to beat all 50 levels perfectly. This would earn me a high ratio Gold and Platinum trophy at the same exact time. I finally earned both of these trophies just a few minutes ago!

However, it looks like only the Platinum counted for the Curling challenge? This means my plans are all for naught! I can't see anything in the rules about disallowing trophies earned at the exact same time. Is this a bug? If so, can you possibly fix it so I can complete my challenge??

My newest trophies are not counting to Cross Country Challenge.
Is there any problem?

It appears none of my trophies are counting towards any of the challenges. The countdown still shows 14 hours remaining, but none of the trophies are tracking. Can we get this fixed or is the event over??

edit: as of 3 hours left in the competition, I have done all that I can. I definitely have more than 31 in the cross-country skiing event (should be 51, I believe). I messed up and forgot a trophy earlier today that made 8 others that would've been linked, not count (bringing me to 59 which, sadly, would've put me in the bronze medal spot!).

Regardless a fun event, minus the technical glitches at the end!

Same with me for the Curling Challenge. Had a decent one pop earlier today which would have ended the challenge, but it didn't count and I don't even see the event on my homepage anymore.

I also have noted some irregularities in my Speed Skating attempt:

1. The Winter Olympics widget was no longer shown on my homepage, so I had to get to it via Community -> Contests -> Winter Olympics. It was from here on my personal Olympics page that I ended my Cross-Country Skiing challenge, and then started the Speed Skating challenge a few minutes later.

2. I played three games in total for this event. My first of three games did not scan correctly. The entry on my homepage shows that I earned 43 trophies, yet the game trophy page shows that I earned 48 trophies. My homepage does not show that I started the game today, even though I did.

3. The second game scanned correctly.

4. With one minute remaining in the event, I synced my trophies with PSN and then attempted to scan the five trophies I had earned from the third game. Unfortunately, the scanner was down. After it came back up, I clicked the 'End Challenge" button.

5. None of the trophies that I earned for the event are recognized as event trophies. There is nothing on my homepage that indicates that I started and finished the Speed Skating event.

I reallly enjoyed the event. A pity it all went 'bananas' on the last day. I was really looking forward to getting a medal in Cross Country and Speed Skating...

Same problem with the speed skating challenge here. I earned 122 bronze trophies while I had the event active, and they all scanned v correctly, but nothing counted towards the speed skating event or the Winter Olympics total trophy count either. That's a bummer. I had a lot of fun with the event other than the technical hiccups.

Aww.. I wanted to attempt the last challenge before it was over. But maybe I won't bother since it seems that it might not be working properly. Despite being on vacation for a week of this challenge, I still feel I had some pretty impressive placing! Since the active times are in UTC Time, it's already 7am by their clock and the event is supposed to end at 10am? Guess I can see why things are going a bit screwy.

So as it's officially finished now, what happens next?

I still carried on doing the cross country skiing even though they weren't counting, just in case...

Looks like they ended it 12-24 hours early and it won't be corrected (they've already "handed out" the awards based on the early ending).

Well i feel like my fellow Aussie Steven Bradbury. As it stands i finised 1st place on the overall leaderboard but that so would not have happened if not for a crash tbh i would have been happy to compete for top 10. Nelson-Hellier was obviously well ahead and cruising to victory and i saulte your trophy hoarding skills.

Some official word on what happened would be nice, a few people are a bit upset that it got cut short... Not me, I got a silver medal, yay!
