Babylon's Fall's closure has prompted the CEO of developer PlatinumGames to issue a public apology, though the game's significant failure has not deterred the developer from making another live-service game.

I will not touch them now unless it is free to play

Babylons Fall only failed because it cost a lot of money and people were waiting for a price drop or it go in PS+

If it survived a few years before shut down I would try buying another one' but after 6 months deciding to shut down, and not give people chance to at least play in the colder months is clearly irresponsible or deliberate theft.

Even if it is a single player offline game, I will still not buy them day one any more. I am no longer supporting games from Square Enix or Platinum games, and has put me off all live service that cost money
Babylons Fall is looking to be an easy double Platinum

    Why? Is my question.
When they've got an awesome catalogue of SP games, why bother with a live service game if you can't get it right?
    Congratulations on your platinum.

PlatinumGames needs to re-evaluate its own catalogue. Other than Wonderful 101, it feels like all they can make is the same action game with dodging mechanics. Maybe that didn't help in making it stand out enough for people to want to play it. Couldn't have been the horrid combat system, questionable graphic style, and weird story.

i wonder why they are blaming SE, it was their decision to make the game.

You can certainly pitch a game to publishers, and have an idea of what it looks like, but if you’re not given enough time and budget, and the publisher has their own demands to put on top of your pitch that will require additional time, ultimately unless delays are allowed and more money freed up, you’re going to wind up with a mess no matter how good you want to make it.

Not to say developers are never to blame, definitely we’ve seen cases where they can be dreadfully at fault, but PlatinumGames have worked well with other demanding publishers like Nintendo and Sega before so I think we can kind of deduce much of the problem ourselves.

EA are a prime example of this. They ruined the sequels to Dead Space with their strong arming, then blamed the dev and shut them down.
    Congratulations on your platinum.

It failed because it was monotonous, had shallow combat, laughable level design and a useless upgrade system. All the characteristics of an okay Free To Play game meanwhile releasing for $70.

don't forget its awful graphic style that was consistently complained about, which only became slightly better before this closing.

I'm starting to suspect this game isn't very good laugh
    Congratulations on your platinum.

scalebound was cancelled for this to exist, and I was actually excited for that game. :(

I got very upset when MS binned Scalebound and never let it see the light of day.
    Congratulations on your platinum.
