I'm not sure on this one.
This is clearly about money, you lose China, you lose a big market purely to Xbox.
    Congratulations on your platinum.

This is why it's more important to stand by principles than it is to make money, but of course large corporations often care more about money...

Why is "Taiwan is a country" a step in a recipe? If you ask for trouble that blatantly, you'll probably get it.

(Not agreeing with China's policies in any way. Just saying...)

Just another step towards everyone speaking Chinese in a few generations. Thanks Sony for cucking.

Delete Ukraine. Remove Taiwan. Dissolve. Disintegrate. Format c:\
    Ignore, accept, move on.

i think game-sales/figures are the last thing china give a damn about tbh, theyve always been hard on their gaming community

It was a satirical entry about a toaster being made for $1 by small children.

I'd ask why did Sony not bow down to Russia and force Ukraine to be removed from all content?

Just bought Super Perils of Baking to support the devs. Looks like a fun little game anyway smile

I wonder if Sony is aware of China's lovely history on human rights, abortion, etc?

I wonder if they actually care about any of the issues they and their studious pretend to care about.

Much like how many western companies are all on board with Pride Month...except in places where it might hurt sales. Compare their sites in the West and in, say, Saudi Arabia and see how seriously they actually take it.

A lot of China apologists in here. Fuck the ccp and all communists in USA.

They only care when it's convenient.

Has anyone played Dusk Diver? And if so do they refer to Taiwan as a country in-game? Because they do on the game's website: https://pqube.co.uk/news/taiwanese-anime-action-game-dusk-di...

This game actually takes place in Taiwan, so if they refer to it as a country that would debunk this claim. It seems strange it wouldn't be allowed to be said in-game but could be in promotional material.

They don’t really mention it or refer to it in any way. Not out of a censor style of things but just because it’d be a bit out of place. To be fighting monsters and chatting to friends and having a random “we’re in taiwan” right now piece would feel a little out of place. (Fun game though, 2 is coming to the west very soon)

Yay, let's continue to pander to a country that puts minorities into concentration camps and that carries out more death penalties than all other countries combined. The CCP is today's Nazi Party and should be treated that way. As someone who has been following the Taiwan-China thingy for a long time, this is just another example of self-censorship in order to pander to a tyrannical regime. But then again, what do you expect from Sony? They force censorship onto mild nudity in Japanese games while having a hardcore sex scene in their own game (TLoU II). I just despise this company.

Breaking news: an average Chinese citizen has more cash to burn than a fetus.

The best business decision Sony could have done here would be to just stay neutral. Don’t censor devs when Pooh Bear comes knocking, otherwise they will keep asking you to censor more and more stuff until your platform becomes unappealing for free-thinking devs to release any games on.
