Poll: Which is Splinter Cell option is better — a new game or the announced remake?

This week Ubisoft did the nearly unthinkable: it announced a linear Splinter Cell remake! While we in the office thought this would be a unanimous cause for celebration, there has been a few loud detractors. A poll it is!

A remake is the safe and easy option to test the market and introduce a new generation of gamers to the franchise. If it does well, they can get cracking on a new game.

Remake is better for two reasons.
    1) It gives them a chance to either tell a new story for Sam or create a new operative to take the reigns
    2) It gives more of the newer generations a chance to get in to the franchise. Plus, it has been a long time since a decent entry.

If they make it SP again with optional local co-op, I'll be all over it.
    Congratulations on your platinum.

    A new game.

You can still play the originals on PS3, with trophies

I do not see the point in recreating the same game, with the same story, when a new game could be made with similar game design and with a new story.

Creativity these days is just rock bottom non existent.

If they make a new game, then I will buy the remake, otherwise I will ignore. Not supporting remasters / remakes any more unless they create new games also. With exception of KOTOR.

Other: I can only judge, when more is known about both a new game and the remake. Remake can be good, but can also be terrible like the GTA Def Edit.

Bit like EA and Skate. Initially EA didn't wanted to make 4 as they found 3 not sold enough. But when 3 became BC on Xbox and the hype was fully back. Even made EA put Skate 3, in the vault so people could get their hands on the game, as there where no Disk versions anymore to find and reinstated the servers. And made EA switch minds and started on new Skate.

How about a mix of both like the new upcoming Dead Space game.

A Remake may be good for new audiences followed by a reboot.

However, this Remake isn't good enough. The way Ubisoft has been handling Splinter Cell is shameful. By the time this Remake releases it will be well over 10 years since the last proper SC. And that's just unacceptable.

Let's be real. The reason there hasn't been a new Splinter Cell is because Ubi didn't know how to make it fit it's Open World Formula, and monetization! Piss off
Xbox has either brought in, or supported several bad trends in gaming. Paid online, paid skins, and Micro-transactions, and games as a service

GTA Definitive is a poorly made port, not a remake, a remake would have been better for 3 at least. But they literally just tried to pass off the PS3 versions on PSN and Game Pass as a new version and they really weren't to be honest except for even dodgier graphics.

It should have been done like Mafia Definitive really.

Previous Splinter Cell games in remaster will refresh the series and maybe bring series together. New Splinter Cell title may not be such an easy task for Ubisoft at the moment, but new game should please more players.
